Hmm, care to share what is your usage? ^^
Usually you can get up to RM100 discount from the price shown by the brochures, depending on your bargaining skills nod.gif
All IT products price will drop 1.... eventually hehe~

Well, usually only the RAM can be upgraded for most laptops. If your laptop comes already with 4GB DDR3 RAM then there's no real need to upgrade already since the 32-bit Windows can support only up to 3GB RAM icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi all.

I just bought a L645-1002U yesterday. Could anyone comment the followings:-

1) On/Off Switch is not very responsive. I need to press very hard (till my finger also painful) and at least for a few times, then I can switch it on. Anyone encountered such?

2) How long does the battery last when it is fully charged?

Thanks. yea.

Hihi, grats on your purchase =)
L645-1002U is quite a deal, do remember to register for warranty online and also create the 4 recovery discs nod.gif
As for the 1st question, the power button is not supposed to be like that one, better go back to the shop or visit Teledynamics....

Battery life should be around 3 hours max. depending on your screen brightness or whether you got disable sound/ optical drive or not. Why don't you try it out? Just simply switch on Eco Utility and use your laptop, then you will know how long exactly it will last icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks T.J.

This is my first Toshiba Notebook, so far found it better than my ex Acer, Dell and HP x)

1) Anyway, I will go to Tele Dynamics to rectify my on/off switch problem. The problem is still here... sleep.gif'''

2) I noticed the battery remaining time kept on changing even if I've done nothing... suddenly 2 hours 31 mins... then it dropped to 1 hours 20 mins... and came back to 2 hours 10 mins... isn't it weird!?

Toshiba is overall good to me. happy.gif

Hmm, I agree with you, Toshiba is very good as long as you are not too into gaming nod.gif

1) Yup, you can do that, Teledynamics people are quite nice 1, some more Shah Alam branch got many lengloi haha xD But repairs may take some time. Where did you bought your laptop? lowyat plaza? There's a Teledynamics there. If you're lucky you can ask for new model from the shop you buy too, that way noneed to wait for repairs icon_rolleyes.gif

2) iirc, the battery life is an estimation based on the tasks you are doing. If you are not doing anything the estimated battery life will be longer, suddenly you open an intensive program, then the estimated battery life will drop vice versa icon_rolleyes.gif

1) I bought it in PJ Digital Mall but I sent it back to Tele Dynamics, Shah Alam just now. Their people called me after an hour saying that the connector (of the on/off switch) is really spoiled and they will replace for me wink.gif really is a one-in-a million chances of getting such problem. True enough the service centre got a lot of hot chicks x)

2) Noted with thanks.

Hihi! Congratulations on your new purchase biggrin.gif

The L645 is actually quite a good and nice looking laptop apart from its super glossiness haha laugh.gif

Do:
1. Register for your 1 year international warranty here: http://pc.toshiba-asia.com/portal/public/u...rentTab=service

2. And if you want to extend your warranty, you can go to Teledynamics and do it there (if you haven't already)

3. Remember to create the 4 recovery DVDs

4. Update your drivers here: http://pc.toshiba-asia.com/portal/public/d...rentTab=service

Here are some tips to taking care of your laptop.
1. Heat is a laptop's worse enemy, try to get a nice cooler pad for your laptop and avoid using laptop on the bed or any other soft surfaces laugh.gif

2. Delete the unwanted bloatwares and carry out regular maintenance to keep your lappy in good shape

3. Remove the battery (once fully charged) when using A/C. The heat from the laptop (especially when gaming) will kill the battery very fast sweat.gif

4. Get a good backpack and sleeve (if possible)

That should be all haha =) You can always keep track of lowyat.net posts, some are very informative on how to take care of laptops icon_rolleyes.gif

Bloatwares are programs which will automatically start during startup of Windows, they can be very annoying and will slow down your laptop, especially when it gets old, so you can consider deleting some of them.
For instance, I don't think the Toshiba Buletin Board very useful and I've deleted it, same goes to Toshiba Reel Time hehe Still, the other utilities are good so noneed to delete laugh.gif
You can always turn off some useless "startup" programs too by typing config.sys at the start menu nod.gif

As for the updates, just keep an eye out on updates for your model's BIOS and Graphic Card, that will be good enough icon_rolleyes.gif
Word of advice: Do make sure you install the correct driver for your model, especially when dealing with BIOS ya icon_rolleyes.gif
