Oh? How about giving false hope then? First it was February and then March, April, May and now June. If they cant deliver, then just say so. Why do they keep going back to their promise? That's what Hero users are pissed off. It's not just the delay, it's the ever moving dateline.

Hardware limitations? Are you saying that HTC themselves wasnt sure of their own hardware capabilities before announcing that they will update with Eclair for Hero?  I'm sorry but I find that very unlikely.

droid eris and Sprint's Hero has been officially released, if it gives you better chances of being release to other hTC hero...

what i mean by hardware limitation is that it's take longer to optimise the software to run on older hardware...

trust me when i said i understand how you feel, touch pro2 and diamond2 was given the Sense 2.5 but HD was not, they are basically with the same spec, and when xda ported to HD it wasnt as smooth it was compare to TP2 and D2...

in my last few post i did mentioned that will desire users get the 720p recording and xvid updates that hTC promised? no one knows for sure...one thing i can say is hTC is not good in software / ROM updates, when hTC "promised" something, take it with a pinch of salt, nothing is certain and things can change between now will the day the ROM was supposed to launch...hTC is a hardware manufacturer, they want you to purchase their new model instead of waiting for updates...

about the google logo ...

Desire is like a "new twin" version of Google's Nexus One.

I guess HTC made a deal with Google to sell their own unit (called DEsire) but still maintain the Google little branding (to keep them happy).

so, the deal is in fact, best of both worlds. Google still maintain exclusive with NExus One but HTC also able to sell their very own Desire with Google's "consent" smile.gif

also, HTC's market is larger (i think) cuz HTC can target different regions (ie APAC) that is far from Google's online purchase (now no more oredi).

You are still very new to Android..
Go read up how android process the apps..
don't have to close the app completely. Android will do that for you..
Using Task Killers also will harm your phone

Not really true..
So far only M'sia's Desire got Google logo.. Rest of the world don't have..
so what you say is not actually true...
Got mine from UK, dont have google logo, even in Australia the Telstra set also don't have google logo.. smile.gif

I have no intentions of using task killer. I did read it would do more harm than good. Just wondering how to close off all the app without leaving them in the background.

1 nore question. How do i transfer my existing contacts from a Nokia e71 to Desire?

No, you cant, those memory are reserve for the application you always run which decided by the OS itself.
actually those background applications are not running, they just park there so that you can excess it within a second..
it is the smart design of android phone, so that you can always access to the application faster.
When phone memory running out, android OS will automatic terminate the application which it think less important..
When there are free memory, it will ready some application that you always use for you
so no used for task killer because the application will keep restart even you terminate it..
Correct me if i m wrong~~

About your second question, i would like to know as well if some one can tell...
I m currently copying using my sim card

Good thing.. because base on my experience with android since G1, task killer really can do harm to the phone..
to close the app = end task it..
Android "temporarily" close it for you or put it to sleep which only use a little ram and "awakes" it when you open it again.
Android also manages the memory if it's low, it'll close all the unnecessary apps so don't worry

2nd ques.. i duno. tongue.gif

EDIT: lol.. same explanation as above. smile.gif

this phone is good
about the sms composing..it's not that 'not nice' as some say
u can always make it as landscape to see the composed text better

but what i hate is the keyboard on portrait mode
very hard for a person that hv a fat finger like me to type sad.gif
hv to resort to landscape mode all the time

They should have included a converter during your purchase today.
