Just got my Desire. Wanna ask, why is it showing 'H' in my status bar & not 3G? Please help me sifoo.

Oh ya, its my 1st droid. rclxms.gif
*
H = HSDPA (3.5G) thumbup.gif

once u have data traffic, it'll change to H. else, it'll change to 3G.

Crazy, first 500 mb = 50 RM = 10 sen/mb.
After that it's normally 10 RM/mb, but now "discounted" at 5 RM/mb, which is still 50 x the normal rate.  hmm.gif
*
why do u thnk telco intorduces broadband plans then?

normal data rate (PAYU = Pay As You Use) is 10sen/KB. Maxis is 0.005 cent per KB which is cheaper.

that's why in order for you NOT to be hit by expensive charges, you are encouraged to upgrade data plan (e.g. 500MB --> 1.5 or 3GB)

500MB is the minimum, mostly cater for average usage on phone.

So for current RM50 value plan user like me (not contracted), the price of RM1,499 is effectively buying the Desire at retail price and get 14 months free 500MB data plan.  hmm.gif
*

for existing user, can enjoy the RM1,499 offer buy tagging a data plan.

that means your current RM50 + RM58 data plan (rebate RM10) ... automatically qualifies you the RM1,499 Desire oredi.

in other words, no more free calls between u n ur wife...

true.

remember, whenever digi and maxis introduce new phones, their primary target is to LOCK in NEW customers. Always the same.

secondary priority is existing customers, but mostly they are the one losing more.

unless digi/maxis introduce new phone in 1 year period, then it's ok. but within few months, more phones are out. how to choose and surrender ur 1yr life/money to them?

about the google logo ...

Desire is like a "new twin" version of Google's Nexus One.

I guess HTC made a deal with Google to sell their own unit (called DEsire) but still maintain the Google little branding (to keep them happy).

so, the deal is in fact, best of both worlds. Google still maintain exclusive with NExus One but HTC also able to sell their very own Desire with Google's "consent" smile.gif

also, HTC's market is larger (i think) cuz HTC can target different regions (ie APAC) that is far from Google's online purchase (now no more oredi).

That's the only way.. unless you get an app...
You are still very new to Android..
Go read up how android process the apps..
don't have to close the app completely. Android will do that for you..
Using Task Killers also will harm your phone
icon_rolleyes.gif
That's weird, i'm not having any problems also, why you guys can't update..
did you sync your FB acc?
Not really true..
So far only M'sia's Desire got Google logo.. Rest of the world don't have..
so what you say is not actually true...
Got mine from UK, dont have google logo, even in Australia the Telstra set also don't have google logo..  smile.gif
*
unless u r from HTC, u dont have to say mine deduction is not true and yours is true.

it's all up to HTC (or maybe with Google's influence) how they market their units.

different region (or even country-specific) has different naming/packaging/customization/branding/pricing/etc. etc.

Why not consider this way to get the Desire 'without' the contract
Buy the phone at 1499 and sign up for the 12-month contract.
Then just pay for the first month(50+58), cancel the contract and pay a penalty of rm500. In total it's just about rm2100.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
there is an exclusivity period between SiS/HTC and MAxis for 1 month period.

we would see Desire from all HTC authorised resellers from 24th June 2010 onwards. <-- no contract = no MAXIS tie-up.

@Gurdian, that's my 1st thought too!

i might want to wait for the accessories (casing, screen protector, etc.) before buying the unit.
