I don't know about Nikon D90, but it says 60D is an upgrade from 50D. However some of the features that 50D owns were removed on 60D - like magnesium alloy body, micro AF adjustment. However 60D got video recording feature that 50D do not possess. I would say depends on your need, both will just do extremely fine. smile.gif

If you're serious into photography, you can go for DSLR. What kind of photography you want to do?

In that case, Canon 550D with 18-55mm kit lens, and add-on 1 more EF-S 55-250mm lens. Never ever go for a 550D + 18-200mm lens. I know it's convenient, however the price performance is like bloody hell. The bundle kit 550D + 18-55mm kit + 55-250mm will costs you around RM3700, but 550D + 18-200mm will costs you around RM4400. With the difference of RM700 you can buy a lot of camera accessories already.

I just bought my first DSLR few weeks ago. previously I compared A33, Nikon D3100 and Canon 500D
Eventually I end up bought D3100 after comparing some specification.
However, as what I've asked my friend most of them will say
"You cannot compare those brands (Nikon, canon, and Sony) because they offer different kind of color"
At first I am not really sure, however when I tried to see some sample images taken by someone in order to compare 7D and D7000 I know what does the brand's color difference mean.

As for me, Canon I will offer more natural & smooth color compared to Nikon.
For Nikon, they are offering sharpness, that's why I think they are better in landscape photography. Correct me if I am wrong.
for Sony, I am not really sure as I never see the sample image of Sony. but I guess you have to test it first.

I think it depends on your need if you are man of simplicity I suggest you to buy semi-pro instead of DSLR, since they are easy to carry around.
And you can learn a lot from it though. in term of quality? Well, I would say it depends on man behind the camera still.

however if you want to know more in photography and having the tools which support you to have more flexible control on your photography, I would suggest you a DSLR camera. be wise! thumbup.gif

I just bought D3100 which is lack of Af motor back then few weeks ago.
I couldn't find any problem with that, as new lens nowadays has AF-S as their lens name prefix, which mean the lens itself has a auto focus motor.
e.g AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II (my dream lens)
it has AF-S, so the auto focus shouldn't be a problem for those new lenses.

However if you intend to save some patties to buy those non AF-S lens
e.g. AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
I bet it will be a miserable moment for you as you have to do the focus manually, however if you are pro enough you can go for that.

I have no idea about A33, sorry.
However as I heard from my friend brand has different color, so it depends on your preference.

as for me,i think comparing the brands are rather useless since all of them take great pics. maybe the diff are the technologies. and each one of them has its own pros and cons, i mean look at sony's SLT cameras. to me i think the video mode with continuous AF system are amazing, but there's a loss of 30% light. to some people that's a no big issue, i mean, to me, it wont be an issue of coz because im just into photography as a hobby. but for the pros, maybe they wont like it. and nikon, imo the IQ is great, and so does canon. but i've watch alot of reviews, it seems like canon's video mode are 1 step ahead from nikon's. but not to forget, the nikon DX sensors are slightly bigger than canon's APS-C sensors.

here's wut it looks like in comparison

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APS-C

but frankly speaking, im no pro in photography. im just a total beginner and im using the most baisc DSLR on the market as well. the 1000D. and from my own single opinion,i think all of the brands can produce great images. smile.gif

30% loss of light is the difference between f5 and f5.6 only. those who really understands this, including 'pros' won be bothered.

@aldosoesilo & @Tony Stark, so to speak, it actually really depends la on what the photographer needs? and the lack of AF can be aided by lenses?

I would say it's more to photographer preference, not need.
Well.. as I know lens nowadays has AF-S system. that means even if your body do not have AF-S motor shouldn't be a problem, however switching to oldie lens which has no AF-S motor on it will make you loss your auto focus.

No worry still! People are learning more on manual focus. cool2.gif

I do not own these compact cameras. However, S95, G12 and LX5 has a maximum of f/2.0 aperture, Nikon P7000 has only f/2.8. Can somehow differs a bit. More specifications and comparisons can be referred at the websites provided as it will be a long story for me to 'elaborate'. I would say buy the one which catches your sight. biggrin.gif

IMHO, lack of AF cannot be aided by lenses. Say the AF system isn't good, even you have the best grade of lens, you will get out of focus easily.

Sorry, another common question again.
Probably I going for wrong thread?
But I think this question going back to a professional LX model photo shooter better.

I'm planning to get a camera now.
My Mind were stick into Lx-3, Lx-5 and Fz40

Lx-3 is just only RM1250. But Lx-5 is RM1450.
The price range is there. Is it worth to pay extra more RM200 for a Lx-5?

About Fz-40 from obvious spec look seem better than both of the lx model. But there's less recommend from people.
The price is only RM1350.

Any recommendation and explanation please?

Thanks a lot for the help.
