Preferable brand : any brand
Type of photography u want to do : potraits, dance video
Any specific models in mind? : non atm
Any specific features u want? :
- HD movie recording (if not, at least got good reviews about the recording; hope to get 30fps)
- good battery life
- NOT touchscreen (means most of sony's pns are out of my list)

wow these camera really cost alot. >.< and the lumix cam is too manual. haha. any other camera that has good movie recording (with or without the hd recording; as long as it is good) >.<

Can you all give me some opinion about dslr camera since it will be my 1st dslr camera.

Preferable brand : Nikon / Canon

Any specific models in mind? : 1000d or d3100
Any specific features u want? : best quality

Do you think it is valuable if i buy canon 1000d + 50mm 1.8 or just buy a nikon d3100? I thinking if i had a budget about 2k, i can get either both of them. Before that i already know that d3100 don't have motor in body so this camera should need af-s lens that will be more expensive.

Both the specific models in your mind would be fine. Canon and Nikon both have their pros and cons. I prefer Canon myself.

Why don't you get a Sony A33 instead which has better feature than those basic DSLR?

Huh? I thought most of the lenses on the market got AF? Even the kit lens 18-55mm?

The kit lens yea.. But some of the better lens have no AF in the lens. Therefore, you need the AF in the body. Hard 2 explain as I'm not a nikon fan. Try entering the Nikon thread and ask the experts there.

If i recalled correctly, the 50mm f1.8 has no AF in the lens.

yeah u right.. 50mm f1.8 don't have AFS ,just f1.4 i think (correct me if i wrong).

I was in the same situation as you were, ended up with a Sony Nex 3K which is almost to the limit of our budgets. But no regrets so far, its truly a good camera.

If you really don't want to end up changing lens, LX-5 can also do the job. If you want to up the budget then GF1 also can be considered. Personally I didn't buy that purely due to cost.

If I am not mistaken, there is no bundle for 550D + 18-200mm, and I personally do not recommend you to buy the 18-200mm lens. It's overpriced, the price-performance sucks to core. The lens itself costs RM2500. With that price I can buy a decent lens / 18-55mm kit lens + 55-250mm lens with extra money for good camera accessories, I bet you know the Mathematics.
