go here ---> http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_po...s1000d&show=all

apart from the different interface between sony and canon, the A330 have higher ISO...
and the 1000D is the strip down version of 450D... now if u wan to search for the 450D is very hard since it is a discontinued model

the prosumer FZ35 is sufficient since u can zoom more... nikon D3000 sell around RM2000 with the kitlens with 3x zoom only...
unless said u r very interested in photography else u r very wasting money just for that purpose...

picture wise i have no idea...
canon use AA battery and other brand use their own battery pack...
but olympus is a bit more headache for me coz they use xD memory card rclxub.gif
canon and nikon support SDHC that is upto 16GB...
so my final decision is to go for nikon coz the battery is proven lasting longer than AA... purchase extra third party battery pack, it wont cost u a bomb and last u hundred of shot or even thousand...
unless said u wan to spend another few hundred for a rechargeable AA if u buy canon

i think FZ35 is a better choice. wider angle, a lot more zoom, and can take HD video as well smile.gif only buy a dslr if u plan to use more than one lens

an APSC format DSLR(entry and mid range level- not full frame) has cropped factor...thats mean if u bought a 18-200mm, u will get 18(*1.5)-200(*1.5)= 27-300mm...if canon will need to times 1.6...nikon andn sony times 1.5...

compare to FZ35 u get 27-486mm...
therefore FZ35 has the same wide and more zoom compare to a 18-200mm lens...biggrin.gif
i think FZ35 is more than enough for ur case...smile.gif

Type of camera/lens/accesories : 2nd Digital Camera mainly for point and shoot/Underwater Photography
Budget: 2.5K including underwater casing
Your Location: Kuala Lumpur
Preferable brand : Canon (previous cam is A710is with u/w casing), Panasonic, Any recommendation?
Type of photography u want to do : Simple pictures (on the go) and more to underwater pictures
Any specific models in mind? : Please recommend
Any specific features u want? : Aperture/Shutter/ISO changeable and u/w casing available
.
I'm not really a high end photograper but do diving a lot. hope the sifu's can assist...I've checked the new Canon Powershot (u/w camera) however it can only go to 10m and dosen't have a u/w casing....uhuhuhuhuh......so Panasonic is might be the better choice. Unless I go for older Canon models.....
.
