Type of camera/lens/accesories: DSLR
Budget: RM2000
Your Location: JB
Preferable brand : Nikon / Canon / Sony
Type of photography u want to do : sceneries and people
Any specific models in mind? : My friends recommend me Nikon D90.
Any specific features u want? : I just want general specification that is available in the camera that can take good pictures and have good focus. I'm still new in this, so can give some advice???
Thx a lot^^v happy.gif

rm2000 not enough for D90 eh tongue.gif. all DSLR can take good pictures...juz depends on lens / flash / how u take pictures. advice #1 get low-range models 1st (the d90 is very good, but im not sure if u should spend that much) and #2 go to a camera shop n play with different brands...see which menu u like better. dont let the salesperson brainwash u into a certain brand

among the three u listed i'd say go for powershot s90. n yes its available in malaysia, around rm1500.

consider the panasonic LX3 as well smile.gif 24mm wide angle. or Leica D-Lux 4 since budget is apparantly not a concern ;p

cant really understand ur english dude sad.gif

to simply put it, the 40D is a higher class DSLR than the 500D, so it is better and more expensive.

hi all, saw newspaper Fujifilm doing promotion on Finepix J30, RM599 + 2gb card... anyone using this? any opinions?

and also finepix J27 (10mp) at RM499, everything is the same except the Megapixel.. should i get J30 or J27 ?

or

would u guys recommend me other cheap p&s camera with below criteria...

-below RM600
-dimension around 91x56x20mm (compact and easy to carry)
-must use rechargeable li-on battery

I found some ppl selling cheaper than this but with 1 or 3 months warranty only, is it advice to get from such seller? they claimed is unused demo set...

thanks all !!  rclxms.gif  notworthy.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  notworthy.gif

between the finepix J30 and J27, get the J27 (assuming the rest is the same as u said). less pixels = smaller file size = more photos u can take in 2gb smile.gif

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Prosumer or DSLR
Budget : Below RM2000
Your Location : PJ
Preferable brand : Any brand as long as it's good
Type of photography u want to do : Flowers, insects, sceneries
Any specific models in mind? : have no idea
Any specific features u want? : as long as the picture is clear will do

And then I need a camera which I can take my baby's camera. As baby moves a lot, normal PnS just cannot do a good job. >.<

So please recommend recommend a bit. Thanks a lot
*
Canon 1000D or Nikon D60..both are DSLR n should be around 2k. but then if u scared kena the DSLR poison from this forum (hehe) get manual compact camera like Canon S90 or Panasonic LX3 for around 1.6k. in some ways the s90 n lx3 is better than 1000D and D60 with kit lens... the F/2.0 lens can help u take nice pictures of ur baby. LX3 is wide angle which is nice for scenery, and the lens can focus very near so u can take nice pictures of flowers. but the zoom not that good, so u have to get near the insect to take its picture n hope it doesnt run/fly away/kill you tongue.gif

I thought if getting Olympus FE-5020 earlier but I change my mind after my fren told me tat the image quality that Olympus snapped out is not good... Sigh... Hope can get a good camera during this Xmas promotion at Lowyat... Hope can get some advices and recommendations here... And another thing I would like to know wat is the different between 3X and 4X optical zoom?
*
dont let people come up to u n say "brand X not good". different people different taste, n olympus has been making cameras for decades already. almost all digital cameras can take decent pictures, so if u like the FE-5020 i suggest u go test it urself...if u're happy with the photos, menu, price, then go buy one..its ur own money smile.gif

zoom is the range of the nearest and furthest focal length of the lens. usually 4X can zoom further than 3X, but sometimes this stuff is tricky if u're comparing between different brands. again, go to a shop n try urself. that's always the best way biggrin.gif

I'm just asking price for Canon EOS 500D here at my place Miri, Sarawak.

The body only is RM2750...

While with kit lens(dunno what didn't pay attention) is RM4850...

While buying body and lens separately body is RM2750 + lense RM2870 = RM5620

Now, how much the price there at lowyat?
Can I get any cheaper than this?
*
im from miri, and my advice is...dont buy DSLR there (unless u go to the sony shop at imperial lah). they mark up like crazy, u're better off buying online

RM4850 is even more expensive than D90 with kit lens. they're trying to con u

even 5.6k is too expensive for D90 with kit lens tongue.gif

ooo soo it's normal thingy for the sensor to control the aperture f-stops even in dslr... icic thanx 4 d explanation

im pretty new in this stuff too, but i dont think the sensor controls the aperture f-stops. it's the limitation of the lens itself. some tele lens maintain the maximum aperture throughout the zoom range..but expensive lar

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Any
Budget : 1-2k
Your Location : Sibu
Preferable brand : Any
Type of photography u want to do : My baby
Any specific models in mind? : No idea whatsoever!
Any specific features u want? : Able to take my baby's picture in the house + Image stabilizer

Basically, I already have a Panasonic Lumix FS15. However, I find that taking non-flash pictures of my baby inside the house with the normal household flourescent light is just horrible. Babies in general won't stay still and pose for you (they are constantly moving unless they are sleeping!!!!)

I sometimes take multiple shots to get a clear shot (hopefully) but with the poor lighting, the image might be clear but the iso would be high e.g. 400-800.

As I understand it, normal compact cameras have small sensors and just doesn't cut it even though they may be high-end or expensive......
*
as TheWandererX said, u could get better results with manual cameras like the panasonic LX3 and canon S90 cuz they have a fast lens. but sometimes they're still not fast enough in low light. and both dont do well enough above ISO 400.

u're right about the sensor size. bigger sensor size can use higher ISOs while still looking good. i think the best solution for u is getting an external flash. bounce the flash to ur ceiling and it should give u good lighting and u wont get blurred pictures. u can buy an LX3 + flash for ur budget

External flash is something really out of poster's league. It's something you need to learn about, not just attach and snap. Just my two cents, an external flash on an LX3 is pointless. (if the flash mentioned is going to be one of those Nikon SB flashes or a full-sized flash).
*
juz recommending something so poster can take better pictures of his baby in low light smile.gif LX3 + nikon SB out of his budget already

olympus EP-1
canon G11
lumix DMC-FZ35
sony WX1

any suggestion?
*
each of these cameras are in different categories. so..

EP-1 best picture quality, but for the price can get DSLR already...but at least the EP-1 is smaller n better looking
G11 good picture quality (worse than the EP-1 though), but quite huge for a 'compact' camera, n fugly ;p
FZ35 if u want good zoom. some people dun need zoom
WX1 if u want to budget tongue.gif

some say i should save the extra 1k for new lens in future...
pls advice...

i'd go for D3000, n use the extra 1k for a nice bag, n 35mm f1/.8G lens. the picture quality almost the same to me ;p

I want to learn to shoot photos professionally with a decent camera that I can start with. I have normal lumix shoot and point camera but that doesn't give me good crisp sharp photo. i need a more professional camera to learn and play with. so need some advise here as which camera good for beginner. what's is prosumer camera by the way?

Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera
Budget : RM3000-4000
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Nikon or Canon
Type of photography u want to do : Landscape, Portrait, not only day shot but also excellent for night shot

voting for D90 smile.gif

prosumer camera are those like lumix FZ38 or canon SX20 IS..sometimes called superzoom. mostly priced around 1.5-2k range. manual controls, good zoom...but cannot change lens (got conversion lens though) and just slightly smaller than a DSLR. quite suitable for learning la since u get all the manual controls, learn to play with aperture, shutter speeds etc...but since u have the money, better get a camera u still can use when u pro already smile.gif
