i would like to ask friendly advice from u guys. my budget for this year is about RM3000-RM4000...
currently im in the middle of making decision for which brand/model to buy... i ve asked my frens about this matter...
most of them recommend me to buy nikon d90... only few of them recommend to buy canon eos 550d or 60d..
fyi, im not a professional photographer.. taking picture just for fun but planning to do part time job (wedding, event, etc) in the future...
glad if you guys could give me some idea, introduce, advice, suggestion before making final decision.. lol

your budget is for body only or u want to buy additional lens?
assuming your budget is for body only, i would suggest you forget about the 550D
go for Canon 60D. If you can wait 1 week or so, take a good look at the new Nikon D7000 too

assuming the RM4k is for both lens & body, you should consider 550D pair with Tamron 17-50 f2.8

or if you are not so sure which type of lens you want, might as well save the $$ and buy 550D pair with kitlens
play with it until you know what you want with your photograph

Hi!

I'm looking for digital compact camera below RM800.

Welcome anybody advice me the bang for bucks for the price.

I preferred on image quality rather than design.

HD movie recording is a bonus.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Compact vs DSLR camera
Budget : RM1500 - RM2000 +
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Canon (open to other brands for compact)
Type of photography u want to do : various
Any specific models in mind? : Canon EOS 450D / Canon S90 (or S95) / Lumix LX3 (or LX5)

So my main dilemma here.. is whether to go for a semi-pro compact, or a DSLR. Undoubtedly DSLR's produce photos with better quality. But i've heard people who regret after purchasing one, saying they wished they had a compact to use instead of lugging the dslr around. Should this be a concern? Or are there any other downsides to DSLR's that you guys would wanna add?

I'm aiming for the older entry-level DSLR's actually, to fit my budget. Pretty set on Canon for DSLR, heh ;p

If i were to go for a compact, any other suggestions other than S90 or LX3? Would love to hear your opinions. I've been reading reviews and all, but it'd be helpful to know anything extra

Thanks guys (:

u can consider the NEX-3 or NEX-5.... Compact sized body with DSLR quality. That is if u dont like lugging around a big camera around ur neck....(to me i dont mind)
1500-2000 u can consider Canon 1000D or Nikon D3000 or Canon 450D

hi there! just want to have some opinions...

should i get EOS 550D 18-135 at ~RM3600 or should i get EOS 60D 18-55 at <RM3600 then buy another zoom lense later, or >RM4000 for EOS 60D 18-135?

this will be my first DSLR and my budget is below RM4k... im afraid that if i get 60D i couldnt handle it... and im not sure 18-55 is sufficient for me or good for normal use or not, coz i feel that the zoom range for 18-135 in 550D is quite good for me...

sorry if i confuse u all, coz im also confused which is better to buy...hehee...

thanks..

for me i have used DSLR before so ill go for 60D. If u are new 550D is already ideal.

I just like the 60D articulating screen take photo from different prespective.

More info to 60D different prespective
http://www.canon-asia.com/eos60d/

Difference below so if u need the below added features go for 60D if not 550D is ideal di

1) Articulating screen
2) Continuous Burst 5.3 fps
3) Bigger grip

and many more but not much changes

60D is between 550D and 7D speed

I'd recommend you to get the 550D if you don't need what the 60D's extra features as both offer similar image quality and ISO performance

Go for the 18-135 for better zoom range, else you can always opt for a 18-55 and 55-250 combination smile.gif
