I am a newbie in this field. so I want to start out something with this. I will be using the camera for my own leisure time and for work purposes. as I involve much to outdoor projects (field, forest, nature, crowded area etc) my company asks me to get a DSLR camera so it will be my responsibility to ensure most of the projects' pictures are taken. so, to start off.. So my main dilemma here.. is whether to go for a semi-pro compact, or a DSLR. Undoubtedly DSLR's produce photos with better quality. But i've heard people who regret after purchasing one, saying they wished they had a compact to use instead of lugging the dslr around. Should this be a concern? Or are there any other downsides to DSLR's that you guys would wanna add?

I'm aiming for the older entry-level DSLR's actually, to fit my budget. Pretty set on Canon for DSLR, heh ;p

If i were to go for a compact, any other suggestions other than S90 or LX3? Would love to hear your opinions. I've been reading reviews and all, but it'd be helpful to know anything extra

Before this, i've decided to get Nikon D3000 over Canon 1000D and Nikon D60. And that was before Nikon D3100 was released.
I know Nikon D3100 is good, better than Nikon D3000.

But I can't seem to want to get D3100 over D3000 cos of it's price difference. Am I making the wrong move here? Or is it like, I can play around with D3000 first, then upgrade to D3100 later on?

Should i go for D90 rather than D3100? which one better actually? i guess D90 right? was it all depend on the sensor quality to determine good dslr?

I found that, my friend and my cousin friend who use 550D, then say regret and should get D90, i not sure izzit the D90 photo quality is better than 550D or not. They just say D90 have more shortcut function and more function too, i feel photo quality good or not is depends on skill, then camera lo. What u think?

I'll be going hong kong, Japan and Korea next year, are the dslr there cheaper after tax compared to Malaysia?
