I just got my 4Mb installed today (BB 4M). Upgraded from 1Mb line.
But the speed is fluctuating between 1.8Mbps - 3.7Mbps with speedtest.net (S'pore).
With RS, I get even worst than before, around 40-80kB/s only. argghh

Currently, my SNR and attenuation is as below :
SNR dwn : 9-10dB
SNR up : 28dB
Attenuation dwn : 44dB
Attenuation up : 27dB
* Temporarily using TM's Riger DB108-WL modem instead of my Dlink 2640T. Just want to try.

Previously my SNR dwn was around 27dB.
I should wait for 1-2 days and see if it improves right? (is it bcoz port not reset yet?)
BTW, I'm staying within 2km from TM node and my IP is 115.133.xxx, 115.134.xxx & 115.135.xxx

last time my connection was always 218.111.*.*

play games at australia server, ping time <100 ms
can be a pro, and kick those aussies asses!!!!!

Sorry 218.111 ip is gone , its very very hard to get. Last time its easy , its just that they ran out. Sure you may try complaining , complaining and complaining if you like. 218.111 ip gives you the best 1337 connectivity to anywhere , even to US. My god pings to US were amazing .

how come 218.111 can give godly ping but others cannot?

Routing , 218.111 is one of the earliest IP range which TM ever owned I think and it so far offers the best connectivity to just about anywhere. Currently its reserved either for static IP or for some lucky 4Mbps users. Back in the days when streamyx was 384kbps/512kbps , mostly everyone did get this IP and thats why streamyx rocked. As then things started to get bigger and bigger you have more ip ranges , more routing and these routing do suck

Sad news is that ever since CoolUniPack has been introduced and the new Broadband plans , its no longer possible to get these IP addresses anymore. Last time you could bug TM and they would assign to you. Now they wouldn't even do that as they have run out of 218. ip range (heh , its time to move on to ipv6).

A lot of 4Mbps users are losing their 218.x.x.x godly IP Address. I am not sure why , you can try e-mailing TM by the way if you're a long time 4Mbps user ! Just tell that you're concerned about latency and not downloading and most likely they would give you. But then dont go and start downloading like there is no tomorrow , else they might kick you out of 218.x.x.x ip range and give you the crappy 115.

my streamyx 4mb at night totally cant use at all , Downstream Speed only 2xxx-3xxx , when i check the speed , it oledi 10-20kbs , everynight is same , i got call tmnut , but they do nth T_T should i downgrade to 1mb .. ..

Hmm i'm on my backup line now 218.111 full speed 5 Mbps full ahead on ftp with 115 i can achieve only 1.5 Mbps on ftp max on http

It seems 4 Mbps for 218.111 range is unthrottle

could anyone do me a favor and ping this 64.27.6.75 and let me see the results if you're on 218.111.*.

the pings from the 218.111.* range these past days are unacceptable.

Back in the morning 218.111 speed is crawling back like normal speed

So I just upgraded my 1.5 mbps connection to a 4 mbps one. Do you guys know roughly when this will be effective?

make sure he bring a new modem for you
