Check PlantGeek.net - Plant placement Guide

CO2 tanks freezing - send your tank for a visual check. Problem with aquascapers is that we have no idea that these tanks are subjected to maintenance checks. We simply buta-buta buy only. Aluminium or Aluminium steel tanks all have markings around the neck of the tank. The markings will tell you what material the cylinder is made of, tank capacity, weight empty and full, and last hydrostatic test date. The above explanation does not work for refurbished fire extinguishers. The only outfit able and certified to do these checks is Malaysian Oxygen or MOX. Your best bet is to send your cylinder back to whoever you bought it from and get them to send for check.

Example of neck markings:
V0.52 W0.53 TP200 FP130 PVAROC 09 03 SH 00761

V0.52 - weight empty [?]
W0.53 - weight full [?]
TP200 - Maximum Tank Pressure (allowable) 200bar [?]
FP130 - Working Pressure 130bar (this how much pressure the cylinder can be filled to
PVAROC - manufacturer name
09 03 - manufacture date
SH 00761 - cylinder serial number

Activated charcoal - efficiency on a stick! dump it in your filter or in your tank itself, your choice.

Shrimp death - occurs more when their skin molts. new carapace doesn't have the hardness therefore these shrimps tend to go into hiding once they shed their old skin. More susceptible to being preyed upon by others too smile.gif

Trimming stem plants
- either trim and replant or pull out chop off 5mm above the roots, cut in half then replant - tedious but looks nicer

best is to figure out a way to make the outflow slower, maybe create a few barriers before outflow hits your tank. With the lily pipe, you'll still have to make sure the water level is constant (water top-up regular) if you use a fan as opposed to chiller.
