above is definately true, Geohotz already said he can jailbreak 3.1.3...with the new bootrom, i bet you he is just waiting, and like last time whne 3.1.2 was released.. we will have to wait a month and bang.. we will have a jailbreak for 4.0

guys need help. my phone got rickrolled with the ikee worm.

well all apple product have the standard only some forumer might get cheaper from other country...or as pizes in competition...so the prize range will differ....but comparing in the official site like machines and epicenter the price will be same...jail breaking its an illegal for apple..there are trying the very best to stop it...thats why we have the 3.1.3 update and stuff...at a point there will no jb...where it could be possible(never jail breaking will affect the price, its only to satisfy some customers and sellers)...so stuff like iphone is all contract bond with the telco...never you can get cheaper...those people in lowyat mall selling cheaper due its not malaysia set..most us set..remember where you need to jailbreak to use it..

v3.1.2 can JB(older generation Iphone 2G. 3G)

v3.1.3 cannot JB (mostly all 3GS Iphone come with this right)

so we only JB for more apps and Cydia which those apps not from Apple Store.

so i've got an Iphone 3GS. its authorized set from Apple and thats mean mine set is unlocked?

anyone mind explain for me.

well currently apple had stop user to go back to fw 3.1.2 if they are originally update to 3.1.3....but there is way back where incase you have jailbroken in 3.1.2 and had catch the shsh file from cydia.then there is no problem for you to go down or up the fw...all this can only be done in 2g,3g and 3gs old boot room...
but for this 3gs and esp the new boot room the chance are very low..if you have upgrade to 3.1.3 the chances are low to downgrade and new boot room dont even think about it...for 3gs is advisable... to stay in3.1.2 fw which is easier to be jailbroken...but 3g and 2g can be jailbroken in 3.1.3 fw too...

Hi there, hope some sifus will be kind enough to answer my question

I have a Maxis set iphone 3GS and i wanted to jailbreak to install apps & games, it has the 3.1.3 firmware & 05.12.01 base-band. here's my question.

1) Is it possible to jailbreak the current 3.1.3 without touching the firmware since it's already unlocked? Or I have to follow the step to download & restore the FW and jailbreak ?

2) If i have to restore the FW, if everything went fail, can I revert it back by restoring the original 3.1.3 FW so everything go back to it's original state and remain UNLOCKED?

3) Lastly, i'm kinda confuse, to make it simple. I just wanna confirm that do I have to unlock every time I upgrade to higher firmware since it's maxis official unlocked set? or I just have to do the jailbreak process enough?

Kindly read the few post above your post as this question on Jailbreak Fw 3.1.3 have been answered numerous times in this thread. You can read the first post as well.

Secondly, all iPhones sold from Maxis, Digi are offcially unlock or so to say a permanent unlock till your phone aged.

To clear up your confusion, only LOCKED untis of iPhone (2G or US, UK 3G/3GS iPhones) need a software to enable call functions etc hence the unlock/jailbreak came about.

Official unlock units of iPhone as stated in Apple site does not need to unlock with any software. As long as the iPhone is an unlock unit, there's no need to worry about unlocking or a need to unlock even if the next hundred frimwares comes our way.

i just buy a new iphone from maxis, and later i realised that it cant be jailbroken..
so is it worth it for me to swap to the older version of bootrom or wait till theres a jb for 05.12.01 baseband?
