Garmin for iPhone? There's no such thing for the time being. That must be a guide for garmin or something. Read carefully all descriptions.
Lite still cost you $19.99. This is JV function. ![]() A pop up window whenever you meet a junction and show you which junction to go. Very handy when in big city with those complicated expressway. Bear in mind though that not every junction that you meet will be greeted with this function. It's up to the mappers in MfM to decide. |

QUOTE(bliss85 @ Nov 13 2009, 12:47 AM) Tried using tomtom on my 3gs in Malacca. Managed to get me to where I wanted to go after quite a few wrong turnings due to the occasionally bad and slow reception... even u using the Garmin GPS unit also will heat up one lah... i think it heat up coz need to always communicate with the satellite It's actually very sad to say this but the Garmin on my last e71 is just way better. It's fast, accurate and definitely more reliable... Btw, as some has experienced it before, the phone gets really hot after using the GPS for awhile and not to mentioned how fast it drains the battery... Hi,
Just wondering which is the most accurate GPS for iphone as of today? Is it tom tom, sygic or the new papago? And also do we need to pay for internet data if we use the GPS on the iPhone? And also for the tomtom, sygic and papago.. do they have their own malaysia maps? or do we use malsingmaps? Thank you! This post has been edited by melvin_yong87: Apr 5 2010, 11:55 PM |

I mean, iphone has A-GPS function which we will be charged if using it. But GPS itself is free. So, is there a way to toggle between using A-GPS or GPS?

QUOTE(lilster @ Apr 8 2010, 12:00 PM) Yes. The location services is the A-GPS function. However this will affect iPhone's google map as it uses A-GPS only. Unlike Google map in other phone, there is no option for GPS. So if you wish to use a navigation app by using GPS solely, it's better to use apps like Papago, TomTom etc. |

It's in the news several months ago.
It's simply adding 3D building for the so-called navigation ease and ideal for social networking as it integrates chatting function. A new idea but probably not useful. Plus 3D building does not really help you in navigation seriously. Because there is so few of them that only selected famous building will appear. Especially in Malaysia. Considering this is the same developer that produce Mobile Maps for SEA, I expect it's POI database and road network basically the same. I still have my vote on Papago with 3D buildings and extensive network. Nevermind if it's not as elegant as Sygics UI, but it takes me to the place i want to |

I am currently testing Sygic's Aura. So far I'm pretty impressed with the work they have done on making the app much more friendlier to use. The 3D navigation is very fluid and nicely implemented and a welcomed change over the Mobile Maps 2009 interface. It's also got some nice integration with some online services (have not tested). For malaysia currently only weather works. There's a traffic option as well but it's not available here as I think they are still working on it.
There's also some additions such as GPS strength indicators and the map integration to the compass, hence it changes views as you move. There's also option to select routing options based on whether you intend to walk or drive there. POI wise, looks quite ok and pretty extensive. For some POI they have included info like phone numbers, etc. GPS lock on is much faster compared to Mobile Maps 2009. I will be taking it for a further test drive tomorrow. Will share my results here with you guys after the test. |
