My dear friend, even with a 3GS and the latest firmware, PAPAGO is still very leggy and having all the same problems that you're having.

My advice to all of you, if you need a GPS that really works as one, get a Garmin. Else, just use it as a value-added apps to your phone or to show it off to your friends. The only good things about PAPAGO is its POI, the price and the ability to do street's name search. It can never replace a real GPS device.

Frankly speaking, I never had the intention to buy a stand-alone GPS all this while. Been using and still using GMXT, MapKing 2007, Papago X5 and now Papago M6 I've been to all unfamiliar places with the help of all this software. And I can say 99.9% satisfied in finding all places accurately.

Lagging for 1-2 seconds it is, battery draining yes, but I still can't find an excuse to buy a dedicated PNA. And I hope I don't have to. Buying another device for RM500-1500 so it can sit idle in my car most of the time and help me out occasionally just don't make the cut. Afterall, the lagginess is really a minor problem. With JV function or even the general next turn arrow, rarely we are going to miss the next turn or junction. The battery drain is also a minor issue, in-car charger will solve that one.

This all-in-one basket phone still works best for me.

Papagos M6 Pro for SG n MY lo.. test in a WIDE WIDE WIDE area.. location service on.. google maps function properly...

Added on March 21, 2010, 2:12 pm1 thing i want to ask... Since MapAniPOI.psu must not be replace into the MLM folder. Den.. why we need to rename MapAniPOI.psu -> MapAniPOI.psz??

Why so many people having problem with Papago installation and satellite lock? Is it because of the jailbreaking or wrong method of map update?

Satellite lock has never been a problem with my phone.

check again where you get the map file. the .psu is for android version.

Just bought papago.. brought it for a test run, very fast satellite lock down! i tried it two times and both times it got signal almost instantly.. and manage to bring me to my destination smile.gif

only problem (and weakness) so far compare to my old n82 garmin gps is sometimes when you do turning the car fly out of the road >.< anyone else have this problem?
though i'm quite happy with this app in iphone now.. last time my bro don't even have any good gps application on the iphone, my garmin is god smile.gif

now if garmin enters iphone market then it will be perfect =)

Ah you beat me to it. Yup Papago 6.3 is released. You downloaded 170MB through wifi? Though it can be done, it still way slower than using ur PC.

Update on 6.3: (sorry no new map blush.gif )

1) start point option
2) better performance (according to maction, I've yet to try)
3) ability to call POI's phone no. (direct from the apps I guess? still downloading..)

Comment:

I have open the app and it seems the UI lagginess is back! vmad.gif

They have change to colorful icons in the menu which yes easy on the eye, but it's very laggy, just like 6.1

The way the icon respond to touch also has changed a bit but nothing to boast of.

As stated in the update, the start point option will pop up once you choose a POI and touch the 'Go!' button

The other two so-called update I'm not very sure as I've yet to try on routing.

Other new thing includes:

1) Postcode option (though I can't find any POI using this function. I believe native mfm mapset do have this ability though)
2) Type error in Function tab for "sorting methed" has been corrected to what it supposed to be.

All in all, I still not satisfied with the UI lagginess issue. This is capacitive for God's sake!

cool, this is the first time i ever saw any updates for an application smile.gif

I have one question, when typing in the search box for POI in Papago, what are those random keys appearing in the middle of the screen? they don't seem to do anything?
