that depends on what iTunes account you have... If US account, you can buy using gift card or US credit card, if Malaysian account you can use debit or credit card.

yes, i also cannot type the full address. so i just search by road name. cannot put like the house number or lot number.

once you're in that screen, just click on that road and then on the next screen, click on a Go! button and it will automatically start the routing.

doesn't matter if yours is taiwan, my/sg, bangla, or china version. you still need to rename the file because .psu if im not mistaken it is for Android, hence you need to change it to .psz which is ppg format. as for the papago.dbp and standard.mb6, it's just about the caps and no caps because Unix base OS is case sensitive.
*
just wanna to add.. BTW i'm on non JB so don't know whether this will make any difference.

I only changed the .psu to .psz because the original iphone papago's version is in .psz version.

I dont change the caps on .dbp etc and it still works fine.

BTW don't think .psu for android solely because windows mobile version also .psu

cool, as long as it's working right? smile.gif but if you face any probs, then you should try renaming the .dbp and .mb6 files.

anyways i dunno if .psu is solely for android or not, but i do know that it's not for iPhone. so yeah, you gotta rename the .psu to .psz for sure.

rename standard.mb6 -> Standard.mb6

I am not using the Taiwan ver.. Not sure is it the same..

Then, i am stuck.. No more space for entering the address. Like that how to Navigate? If i continue with Search. The from the top it return result Matched 199, Jalan PP19/19, Taman.. The M6 does not support full address search. Even X5 doesn't as well.
Hope further update will give more features and pretty please..fix the UI lag..really doesn't suit the smoothness of iPhone capacitive screen

Update: I have X5 which also uses MfM and it seems the map database in X5 is even newer than M6.

While Papago does not support full address function like garmin, road search is available. And in my case, a specific road name that I wish to go appeared in X5 but not in M6.

So it all boils down on the database, not the apps itself.

i have been using tomtom and now using papago. Comparing these two, it is really a lot of different. Tomtom is superior in everything to papago EXCEPT it's map not updated and the POI.

Tomtom have much better UI, better voice directing, better looking map which is easier to read, more features like alternative road, bypass toll and so on. The only problem is like I said, it's map not updated which is a big problem for a GPS software.

Papago's UI, features, map view are all very lousy. Like done by some student's final year project. But it is the only GPS software in iphone that alllows usage of MFM. And it's cheap too compared to all the other GPS apps.

If only some one do something like tomtom and make it us MFM then it will be perfect.

all GPS apps have voice navigation.

But if you are buying iphone solely for the GPS then better not. Cause iphone as a GPS device is not as good as specialized gps devices like garmin.

But if you are buying iphone for it being iphone and then want to use it secondary as GPS then okay.

Ok thanks, i am looking for the GPS as a tool which might come in handy (hence secondary) on emergencies. Of coz nothing beats the standalone GPS devices.

I have read about past post in MFM forum about using winrar to access the ipa file and replace the original maps with the lastest one from MFM. However the modified ipa cannot be used on iphone that is not jb. Installation via itune will report error ( ... resources have been modified etc, cannot install ...)
However, still there are ppl claim can upgrade maps without jb. However, someone can provide details. Thanks.

Hi, from what I have gathered, it is NOT POSSIBLE to change ipa file and reinstalled on a non-jb iphone. Pagago M6 maps can be replaced /upgrade with the ones from MFM (i noticed that about every 2 weeks) only if you have jb your iphone.
The most recent one from MFM is dated yesterday (11th Feb, 2010). The one that come with original papago M6 is June last year.
Hope this help.

You don't really need to j-break you phone to copy the files into your iphone. You can use third party software that allow copying files into your iphone. Or you can use dropbox. Drop the files into your dropbox from PC and then from iphone, you should be able to see the files. Sorry dropbox won' t can't download files.

As for copying the files, go to malfreemaps website and download latest file for M6 or android X5. It is an exe file. Run the file in you windows and it will ask you which format you want to install the maps. Choose Android X5 and the installer will copy the maps into your PC. After that, copy the files into your iphone.

And heres the steps, and remember guys, "PLEASE BUY THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE" its only USD9.90 from itunes..support the developer and get the free update in future.

1. Of cource, buy Papago Taiwan from itunes and install into your iphone (it might take sometime to download, 465MB)
2. Download Papago Android X5 map (please dont ask me where to download)
3. Extract it, you will be able to see 28 files in total.
4. SSH your iphone (please google yourself to find out how to SSH into your iphone, I am using WinSCP, but you need wifi connection)
5. go to /private/var/mobile/Applications/C3C25D61-0DD8-4E90-8288-AC3E7A1A82CE/PAPAGO! Taiwan.app/Navi/Maps/TW (if you cant find the C3C25xxx folder, try open the rest one by one, im not sure whether the folder name will be the same or not)
6. Replace the Android X5 map with the files inside the folder, EXCEPT MapAniPOI.psu (I think this is the file where make the icon gone all wrong) & R51_prp.kuf (if you replace this file, you will NOT able to see the "选单"), and remember, please change the Octal permission to 0755 for each file you replace (26 files).
7. Unplug your iphone sync cable, give your iphone a kiss, say thanks to malfreemaps & me :finga:

Part 2
Courtesy of bro scaremonger:
mv MapAniPOI.psu MapAniPOI.psz
mv Papago.dbp papago.dbp
mv standard.mb6 Standard.mb6
These steps is for SSH users. But you can follow step 5,6,7 to know where to copy the files and which files to rename.

The Part 2 is for renaming the files.

Another potential problem is moving those files and renaming them. I am not sure how you are going to do it without SSH. But I am sure there are tools to do that wihout JB SSH.

for those who cannot SSH. i guess you'll have to rename the files before you drop the files into the iPhone.
