i have been using tomtom and now using papago. Comparing these two, it is really a lot of different. Tomtom is superior in everything to papago EXCEPT it's map not updated and the POI.

Tomtom have much better UI, better voice directing, better looking map which is easier to read, more features like alternative road, bypass toll and so on. The only problem is like I said, it's map not updated which is a big problem for a GPS software.

Papago's UI, features, map view are all very lousy. Like done by some student's final year project. But it is the only GPS software in iphone that alllows usage of MFM. And it's cheap too compared to all the other GPS apps.

If only some one do something like tomtom and make it us MFM then it will be perfect.

all GPS apps have voice navigation.

But if you are buying iphone solely for the GPS then better not. Cause iphone as a GPS device is not as good as specialized gps devices like garmin.

But if you are buying iphone for it being iphone and then want to use it secondary as GPS then okay.

Hi! thinking of getting papago for my iPhone 3Gs non j-break. Can some one provide me more detail on how to access ipa files and replace the original maps with winrar ?  tongue.gif

You don't really need to j-break you phone to copy the files into your iphone. You can use third party software that allow copying files into your iphone. Or you can use dropbox. Drop the files into your dropbox from PC and then from iphone, you should be able to see the files. Sorry dropbox won' t can't download files.

As for copying the files, go to malfreemaps website and download latest file for M6 or android X5. It is an exe file. Run the file in you windows and it will ask you which format you want to install the maps. Choose Android X5 and the installer will copy the maps into your PC. After that, copy the files into your iphone.

And heres the steps, and remember guys, "PLEASE BUY THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE" its only USD9.90 from itunes..support the developer and get the free update in future.

1. Of cource, buy Papago Taiwan from itunes and install into your iphone (it might take sometime to download, 465MB)
2. Download Papago Android X5 map (please dont ask me where to download)
3. Extract it, you will be able to see 28 files in total.
4. SSH your iphone (please google yourself to find out how to SSH into your iphone, I am using WinSCP, but you need wifi connection)
5. go to /private/var/mobile/Applications/C3C25D61-0DD8-4E90-8288-AC3E7A1A82CE/PAPAGO! Taiwan.app/Navi/Maps/TW (if you cant find the C3C25xxx folder, try open the rest one by one, im not sure whether the folder name will be the same or not)
6. Replace the Android X5 map with the files inside the folder, EXCEPT MapAniPOI.psu (I think this is the file where make the icon gone all wrong) & R51_prp.kuf (if you replace this file, you will NOT able to see the "选单"), and remember, please change the Octal permission to 0755 for each file you replace (26 files).
7. Unplug your iphone sync cable, give your iphone a kiss, say thanks to malfreemaps & me :finga:

Part 2
Courtesy of bro scaremonger:
mv MapAniPOI.psu MapAniPOI.psz
mv Papago.dbp papago.dbp
mv standard.mb6 Standard.mb6
These steps is for SSH users. But you can follow step 5,6,7 to know where to copy the files and which files to rename.

The Part 2 is for renaming the files.

Another potential problem is moving those files and renaming them. I am not sure how you are going to do it without SSH. But I am sure there are tools to do that wihout JB SSH.
