Anybody else agrees that perhaps Skrtel isn't good enough? If possible, I would like to see him and the Greek sold in the summer if the price is right. Then using available funds (And addition from Masch's sale if he is leaving) to buy a solid CB to partner with Agger. Someone who is dominant in the air and less prone to be outdone by pace. A Vidic-type of player. Then Carra will play Hyypia's role last season while we promote Kelly/Ayala as 4th choice CB.
Of course, all of these depends on whether Agger would put his back problem behind him once & for all and if Rafa gets to spend from the sale of players. |

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Nov 23 2009, 05:46 PM) i think ur going at vidic against torres? well not many defenders out there can handle torres anyway then again, both carra and skrtel have no reason for slacking off as they get to practice against torres every day. |

here's some more interesting facts to back up sol campbell - who our very own shebby called fat and overweight
http://www.caughtoffside.com/2009/08/23/to...league-players/ QUOTE Arsenal’s Walcott clocked 22.72mph and Sol Campbell took a shock second place in the top-flight race with a 22.50mph top speed. Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres would be in a photo finish for third with their joint top speed of 22.27mph. |

For Christ sake we are NOT going to sell any central defenders. Be it Skrtel or Krgyakos. Sell them for like a few million quids and who are we gonna get? Some world-class center back? WAKE UP
Regardless of how badly they play, please keep in mind that we bought both Skrtel and Krgyakos under rather dire circumstances. We lacked cover for our main center backs (which are Carra and Dagger) so Rafa got them as cover. Who would've known Dagger was that injury prone? Yes we paid 6m for Skrtel but he can still improve. Give him time. No comments on the Greek. That was a last minute no-options purchase. Looks like he's doing okay so far. At least he has the size (6 feet 4 inch!!!) |

Rafael Benitez has taken an 18-man squad to Hungary for Liverpool's crunch Champions League tie with Debrecen.
The squad that left Liverpool's John Lennon airport today is: Pepe Reina, Diego Cavalieri, Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Fabio Aurelio, Emiliano Insua, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel, Andrea Dossena, Alberto Aquilani, Steven Gerrard, Yossi Benayoun, Javier Mascherano, Lucas Leiva, Jay Spearing, Dirk Kuyt, David Ngog. No Kelly, No degen, Only Glenny and anything happen to him, then carra on the right again with the shaky skrtel in the center. i'd watched Kyrgiakos played before.. and he's a good defender. £3m is a fair price for him especially when u're looking for a 4th CB...
