im gonna share a sad story, earlier i bought the samsung b2330h and i wanted to use it so i plugged in everything but it didnt work .. tried dvi/vga all not working so i thought my gfx card already gone then i re-try with my 17" guess what it worked.

so i try to use a laptop, connected via vga when pressing the fn + f5 button my lcd turn white and seconds after white smoke started to come of it.

could it be my fault or lcd got problem.

Only way to find out is to send it to samsung tmr morning and see what will become of all this. wish me luck hope they replace me with another one.

Note: the lcd was manufactured march 2010.

I wanted to get this Samsung monitor B2330H soon also. Please do update us whether this is isolated case or it happens to the whole batch of B-series.

As for other matter, I have something want everybody to confirm here. The DVI should provide the same picture quality as the HDMI port except that DVI has no sound only right? But recently I read about this from Digital Versus article:

In DVI mode, the screen produces colours that are accurate with its factory settings. The average gap between colours sent by the graphics card and those actually shown by the monitor is 2.9, a score that’s well above average. However, it’s possible to obtain even better colour at the expense of contrast by connecting a computer via the HDMI port. Again using the default configuration, the deltaE score falls to 2, but the contrast worsens from 729:1 to 515:1, roughly a 30% loss.

How come? does this happens to only that particular monitor (Samsung SyncMaster T220HD) or this is a fact?

Anyone here using samsung p2770h 27" monitor? as in my previous post.. I still have this problem of vibrating display but only when using 1920x1080 (32bit colour) setting. So far this monitor screen refresh rate is only 60 hertz..neither more nor less. (if anybody can set it up differently do tell me please.. notworthy.gif ) icon_question.gif

So far for me to stop this vibrating problem, i hv to set it to a resolution of 1920x1080 but change the colour properties to 16bit OR change the resolution to below 1920x1080. Of course i'll be chosing the latter option. but knowing the monitor is fullHD capable..it is disappointing.  mad.gif

Anyone have a solution do tell me...thanx. icon_question.gif

I am using it for pass 2 days ... and using HDMI is a mad for me ... trying few cable still having problem ... but using DVI cable all ok now ... display great with any 1920 x 1280 res .. and font look perfect

Hi got 2 questions here:

First being if i get a monitor with hdmi and speakers, if i hookd up my xbox to it can i just use the hdmi just for video and output the sound through other external speakers using the analog sound output or the optical port?

Next, for samsung monitors if i get one from any retail shop, how can i check to see if its a brand new one instead of a refurbished model( is there a sticker or label with codes or anything like that?)

Ya,there is plenty of LCD out there which come with a HDMI buy without speaker.
Hi,did they said anything about the LCD?Anything faulty in it?
Yeah,go for Dell if warranty is your top priority. The Acer S243HL comes with plenty of cable.Go and buy other cable out there,if you still want the cable offer by Dell you can get with a lower price elsewhere.

Either Dell U2410 UltraSharp 24-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor for the IPS Panel display or Viewsonic 28" VX2835wm for the size.

Dell's Ultrasharp has the best picture quality thanks to its IPS Panel.

As for Viewsonic, others are either smaller in size (size matters most if you're buying TN Panel LCD anyway) or comes with many unnecessary additional features.

Yes you can do that. Trouble is, Microsoft wants you to buy their own HDMI cable 'kit', that comes with thinner component cable connector (for optical audio out). The standard component cable is purposely made fatter at the end where you plug it in into your 360, so that the 'fat' side just about covers the HDMI slot.

What you can do is take a knife and cut open the fat plastic cover. You'll see that the cover is designed to be fat specifically so that it covers the HDMI cable slot. Cheeky bastards over at Microsoft.

You can find a lot of guides/videos online on how to do this.

Adapter
RM5 you may score some on ebay at 99cents USD, without shipping.
May come free with some GCs, they should be as cheap as VGA to DVI adapters.

Retail... RM 10 to 15 is fair...

Cable
RM 15 to 20 for a 1.5m is fair
