wanna ask this strange thing:

1. Dell S2209W, 21.5inch now sells for Rm559 (according to website, original price is RM1290, how come so expensive? )

2. Dell ST2210 also 21.5inch sells for Rm589, but I cant see the difference except HDMI port. As I know, DVI gives same quality as HDMI port expect no audio. So which one is better?

3. I heard Dell has very good reputation on product warranty, can eleborate further? Does it mean I can have 1-to-1 exchange for any dead pixel found?

4. If I choose Samsung, my choice is Samsung B2230H which sells Rm555, is it better than Dell? How about Samsung warranty?

any Samsung B2230H or B2330H users here?

I surfed over the net and some people complaint that the font is 'blur' in full HD resolution (1920x1080), is that true? Also, the colour is on the 'cool' side (not as bright as original intended colour).

Any other recommendation to replace these model at rm550-rm650 range? I want to get a monitor mostly for Full HD movie purpose...

Its the cheapest 23" monitor around (and also with least power consumption as well for its size). Methinks its pretty hard to find this popular monitor anymore (possibly sold out since its no longer on most price lists).  icon_idea.gif

How much is your actual budget?  hmm.gif
my actual budget is around Rm550 to Rm600, can top up Rm50+ more if really worth it. My target is getting a full HD (1920x1080) monitor around 22-23 inch. Currently having dilemma choosing these 3: Acer X233H, Samsung B2230H, Dell ST2210.

Maybe there is monitor from other brand which is truly outstanding?

can consider AOC 2434pw, RM660
free hdmi cable, worth icon_rolleyes.gif

AOC brand is never on my mind, but I can give it a try if it is really outstanding. I heard that Samsung after sales service (warranty) service really bad.

1. How about AOC? how long is the warranty period and what does the warranty cover (such as single dead pixel vs Samsung's 7 dead pixel?)

2. Samsung B-series screen is new series right? the only thing that holds me now is their after sales service.

3 days after purchase? I believe you can go back to have 1-to-1 exchange right? so how does AOC solve the problem for you?

erm..somebody at the forum uploaded the BenQ pixel policy, just in case,

here is the Link

If not mistaken, the warranty is 3 years (whole monitor) but the panel itself is only 1 year warranty. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Also, Samsung DOES NOT produce its own panel for LCD monitor, but BenQ produces its own, is that true?

Hi all,

just like to ask....can i get a between 19" to 22" Full HD LCD monitor for below RM500? if yes, what brand would you recommend?
I bought an LG W2253T ( full HD 21.5" ) for myself abt 10 mths back for RM600, and I just saw the price currently at RM580. it seems the price for monitors had not drop a lot?

thks in advance..
*
there was once a promotion at Viewnet for BenQ Full HD monitor at rm445. Currenly aiming for Samsung B2230H (21.5inch, full HD) monitor, which sells rm555 the last time i see.

Dear samsung users, Samsung introduced MagicTune for their monitor. As far as I know, this software let user calibrate their monitor to produce optimum result.

Does that mean the default setting is ....lousy? Will I get lots of improvement if I calibrated the monitor?

You can get a good 23'' LCD monitor around Rm600, such as Samsung B2330H. But I doubt you can get LED backlit with such price tag.

im gonna share a sad story, earlier i bought the samsung b2330h and i wanted to use it so i plugged in everything but it didnt work .. tried dvi/vga all not working so i thought my gfx card already gone then i re-try with my 17" guess what it worked.

so i try to use a laptop, connected via vga when pressing the fn + f5 button my lcd turn white and seconds after white smoke started to come of it.

could it be my fault or lcd got problem.

Only way to find out is to send it to samsung tmr morning and see what will become of all this. wish me luck hope they replace me with another one.

Note: the lcd was manufactured march 2010.

I wanted to get this Samsung monitor B2330H soon also. Please do update us whether this is isolated case or it happens to the whole batch of B-series.

As for other matter, I have something want everybody to confirm here. The DVI should provide the same picture quality as the HDMI port except that DVI has no sound only right? But recently I read about this from Digital Versus article:

In DVI mode, the screen produces colours that are accurate with its factory settings. The average gap between colours sent by the graphics card and those actually shown by the monitor is 2.9, a score that’s well above average. However, it’s possible to obtain even better colour at the expense of contrast by connecting a computer via the HDMI port. Again using the default configuration, the deltaE score falls to 2, but the contrast worsens from 729:1 to 515:1, roughly a 30% loss.

How come? does this happens to only that particular monitor (Samsung SyncMaster T220HD) or this is a fact?

So what about now? which one is the best choice?
Please more suggest ! I need our help!

What is the difference between LED and LCD? hmm.gif
*
if you're talking about backlighting (the one that lights up the screen), there are CCFL and LED types. LED has lower power consumption and higher brightness.

if you're talking about panel type, there are TN and IPS panel (actually got other variants but these 2 are more popular). IPS gives much much much better picture quality and colour does not fade as fast as TN version.

if you're talking about money, of course IPS panel is much expensive. And if you willing, roll back some post and you can find that some forummer here posted picture of their IPS monitor (Dell Ultrasharp series), you'll be amazed by the picture quality.

Sweet i think I made my mind and going to get this.. nod.gif

On my review side:
Pro:
It only uses 2 CCFL lamps rather than the standard 4 (saves energy)
Brightness at 250 cd/m2 near 300(no big issues)
1920x1080 and not 1920x1200 ideal for gaming
REALLY WIDE feeling!.. laugh.gif
The rest of the detail go check here

Cons:
1 year warranty correct me if I'm wrong blush.gif

I think its worth the price for a 24 incher without many gizmozzz ... anyone else have any comments be glad to hear from you all.

if possible, i suggest u wait for another 1 week (2 weeks if u live in KL) for the coming-soon April PC fair.

Hmm that's true too but really what is it that i need to expect from PC Fair is it price drop, new model or special promos?

There is so many model how to really tell or distinguish? blink.gif
*
usually u no need to expect new model, they gives hot offers for old model to clear their 2009 stock sounds more reasonable.

As for special promos, there is a chance from bigger brand as they usually have lucky draws or something like that. Some even have 'sure-win' kind of lucky draw.

Anyhow, you should be able to get free gifts by PIKOM themselves especially when u fork out quite big amount for you monitor.

Thx for the insight, really all this available panel make's it so hard to decide then after u purchased it there they come all sort of reviews that condemn it  vmad.gif  =.=
*
actually there's not many LCD panel maker there. Most manufacturer use panel from other company, put a frame and logo, then add some software feature and finally sells it.

Samsung uses their own panel, but I heard people said that it is mixed, meaning some Samsung monitor uses samsung own panel, some use other people's panel.

I'm getting a monitor this coming April 2010 Pc fair also. Actually, the best thing is to follow ur heart, read the review as if you're using the monitor not someone who pretend to have super good eyes or expert, and make sure you're happy after buying it and don't read review anymore after you got ur monitor.

QUOTE
but will there be any significant difference if i use VGA and HDMI? btw, im using this monitor on my dell studio laptop

as far as i know, it's better if you use HDMI for high definition. Usually there is no difference between HDMI and DVI, it's just that DVI is a no-audio version of HDMI. Not so sure for laptop connection though

received my st2410 few weeks ago, pretty impressive to me for the price.

for those who purchased stuffs from Dell before, try to call the SA and ask for special price. i got mine for RM619.. smile.gif not sure is it applicable for everyone since i purchased quite a lot items from them.
*
u mean Rm619 is the price for 'regular customers'? i never purchase anything from dell before, and the current online price i see is rm679.
