QUOTE(xDjWanNabex @ Mar 17 2011, 09:34 AM) Erm, my phone has no data plan yet. Offed all my data transfers, and tried on the highway once. It got my location and fixed my destination withing a few seconds...So im guessing, it does not use data, but just GPS. No data plan doesn't mean can't use data packets, you know... |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Mar 25 2011, 10:05 AM) With Data Roaming turned ON? What stuffs can I excessed? Please don't confuse Data plan with Data ROAMING. Data plan is just that, like DIGI Smartplan 68. Pay RM68, unlimited data locally in Malaysia, no worries. Data ROAMING is when you go overseas and wants to use data. You can buy the Roaming plan for a short period, otherwise, if you just use normally without a Data Roaming plan, when your bill comes, your eyes will pop out.Does it mean I can go into Internet(without connecting to a certain WiFi Spot) when Data Roaming is ON? QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Mar 25 2011, 10:43 AM) So, without the Data Roaming Plan, I need to pay extra? All prepaid in our country do not offer data roaming services except just SMS/MMS. You cannot access internet using your prepaid simcard. DATA Roaming charges is dependent on the foreign country charges plus any additional charges by your local telcoI don't mind pay extra. But, I am on Prepaid. Will it works? Quote you an example. I am using a special Cerlcom postpaid plan> Example in one month, my billed data roaming charges : 46628 kbytes : RM 814 , that works out to about RM 1.74/kb or about RM 17.40 /MB . Most Local GPRS data charges for most Msian telcos is about rm10 cents/10kb ie only 1 sen/kb - so you see the vast difference Example : Spore MI line : local data GPRS charges is S$20 cents/10 kb ie about RM 50 sen/10 kb - here just basic charge alone is 5 times Msia local charges So to cut down your roaming data charges, it is best you consult your local telco and see what is the best plans ( normally for postpaid ) - Celcom example has special roaming charges with selected countries. In my example, my Celecom postpaid has special plans and I need not pay the full RM 814 billed amount - there is a very very big discount off it. I know recently Digi under one of its prepaid smartplan plans has a fix RM 36 /day roaming data package unlimited data - this is cheap but to only 8 Asian selected countries : http://www.digi.com.my/internet/smartplan/smartplan.html You wont be able to find much info on this on the telco's websites as it is dependent on the foreign countries rate. So your best choice is still visit your telco, tell them which country you are planning to go to and they will show you the estimated rates Your best choice now on data roaming is select Digi smartplan. But on a long term basis, postpaid plan is cheaper This post has been edited by benny888: Mar 25 2011, 03:54 PM |

You do not need to pay anything accept the licensing for the Papago software.
To unsure it works make sure your phone is capable of receiving GPS coordinates before you enable Papago. There is a program called GPS viewer or similar in your phone, where you can see the location and signal strength of the satellite. Make sure the GPS device on your phone is activated and you have do that outdoors for at least 10 minutes for the first time to get a location fix. The maps should be copied to the correct folder in your SD card. See the instruction found in the malfree website. |

recently jump ship from symbian to android meaning from garminxt to papagox5... my verdict is papago is much better in term of road maps and advantage to the junction view i just love it when it actually shows which road to take on a junction with 2-3 paths to choose...
