QUOTE(northernhero @ Feb 18 2011, 02:05 AM) can papago x5 turn on Agps so tat positioning takes place faster? A-GPS setting depends on your phone system setting, not the App. You set it on in your phone. So far, my HTC Desire is blazingly fast...can even detect me while inside the office...

I am currently using the PAPAGO X5...the thing is there is no way to enter a co-oordinate?? I've bought PAPAGO M7 for Bada, and it has this Co-ordinate menu and a few other things.
Is there a PAPAGO M7 for Android? Or is there a way to key in co-ordinate and save it as a location?

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Mar 3 2011, 10:15 AM) I have an idea. Switch to an android phone as usual, but keep the N8 to be used as a standalone GPS unit. That way you have a new phone to play with, and the GPS that you always loved. I dun think that is good idea....Without access to A-GPS (No Sim card), locking can takes forever. A better option is to sell off ur N8 and buy a dedicated GARMIN GPS...only RM500 or less, depending on which model. You also dun have to worry GPS sucking ur phone battery, and locking will be quiet speedy with this dedicated GPS. QUOTE(spetnaz @ Mar 3 2011, 03:19 PM) Agree with you. Another advantage of the dedicated Garmin Nuvi over the N8 is that the Garmin Nuvi can play wav or mp3 sound alert. The GMXT in N8 could not play sound alert for speed trap and other warnings. Is it? Last time my old 5800XM can play speed trap alert wor.

Nia...used PAPAGO X5 today for real to find a place i dunno....i think it's not so good...the voice navigation tells me to turn to early (300m) in front, and before that also tell to 'prepare to turn'...damn confusing...made many wrong turns....there is also a place which suppose to turn left, even map shows left, but voice told me to go right!!! WTF!!! Previously i use Garmin, i can depend solely on voice, no need to look at GPS...
The X5 also has this annoying "click..buzz" sound between every word of the voice navigation EXTREME ANNOYING.....I think i am gonna buy a dedicated Garmin GPS....

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Mar 4 2011, 02:59 PM) yeah that happens quite often, the click sound and the wrong voice instruction (left instead of right ad vice versa). However I find the on-screen representation to be quite accurate. Thanks for confirming it....i thought maybe i heard wrong, guess i didn't! Ok, comfirm no more PAPAGO for me...gonna buy Garmin GPS. I've used Garmin so long never gave me wrong direction either on Symbian or Windows Mobile. When you're driving alone, voice navigation is very important because you have to keep an eye on the road and can't keep looking at the GPS. This post has been edited by Matrix: Mar 4 2011, 03:04 PM

QUOTE(benny888 @ Mar 7 2011, 08:02 AM) Such views are captured by satellites only in high traffic areas and concentrated on bigger towns/cities. Do not expect to have it available everywhere. And is not the GPS software problem - the information is controlled by satellites as the level of details defined /and captured is different for different places It's not captured by satellite. It's all pre-defined and stored in the map...done by the mappers. For PAPAGO M7 which i am using on my SAmsung Wave, will have graphical representation of junction view...all predefined. Some are unique where special landmark is available, while other's are just recycle pictures where it fits the actual road.

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Mar 5 2011, 01:10 AM) Me too! Today I also used Papago X5 to go to some place I don't know. It performed well but very long-winded and the voice is not nice. "At the intersection, please, turn right, at the intersection, please, keep to the right lane." Just say la turn right and keep to the right lane Yeah....this PAPAGO damn confusing...Garmin is way better, don't talk like a robot. btw, is there a PAPAGO M7 for Android?? Do you guys know where to buy?? X5 not very good... Also, the X5 doesn't rotate to landscape...is it normal? The M7 on BADA rotates automatically.

QUOTE(khalpowers @ Mar 12 2011, 12:43 AM) Their will automatically detect your current location once you launch ..depend on ur hardware ..Papago not using a-gps...mine normally can detect within 20 seconds on cold start .. How do you know PAPAGO not using A-GPS? I can't find a A-GPS option in my HTC Desire settings...only enable or disable GPS location....other Anroid phones have A-GPS settings?

QUOTE(khalpowers @ Mar 12 2011, 09:17 AM) All Android phone come with a-GPS and need to enable @setting..correct me if I'm wrong...I said their don't use a GPS Coz Papago not using data to. Lock even in the jungle can lock the satt.. What i am asking is WHERE DO YOU SET THE SETTINGS? BEcause i dun see it on my HTC Desire. Which Android you are using? Even then it doesn't mean PAPAGO don't use A-GPS. If somehow you disabled it, then supposely it'll use the GPS only. I am not sure about data coz i am on Digi Smartplan 68, so never bothered...but on my Wave 2, PAPAGO M7 definitely make use of advanced download of data for the satellite location, otherwise it's impossible to lock.

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Mar 25 2011, 10:05 AM) With Data Roaming turned ON? What stuffs can I excessed? Does it mean I can go into Internet(without connecting to a certain WiFi Spot) when Data Roaming is ON? Please don't confuse Data plan with Data ROAMING. Data plan is just that, like DIGI Smartplan 68. Pay RM68, unlimited data locally in Malaysia, no worries. Data ROAMING is when you go overseas and wants to use data. You can buy the Roaming plan for a short period, otherwise, if you just use normally without a Data Roaming plan, when your bill comes, your eyes will pop out.
