Guys I want an honest Opinion. I am going to change to android, mainly xperia play. I am currently using an N8 and I am very unhappy with the amount of bugs that the N8 has. Now my question is rather simple, The n8 gps system, Ovi is the best gps system on a mobile device that I have used. Its very precise. I have used papago on my Iphone and its horrible, just horrible. The thing is how do you guys find this software on your android phones? worth it?

Thanks for the update above, The only reason why I am still with my N8 is because of Ovi maps. If it was not for that, Bye bye N8... I will try and do more research because I need a basic gps incase I get lost and so far, in that way, my N8 has never failed me. I hope garmin comes as a stand alone app for adroid phones soon. I will definitely purchase it.

Is there any way to export Papago favourites? As a backup, you know. And how do I stop that music playing when I start Papago X5? BTW, Papago map version 110301 is out: http://www.1gps.com.my/download/papago.aspxThis post has been edited by Dannyl: Mar 3 2011, 10:20 AM

That way you have a new phone to play with, and the GPS that you always loved.

QUOTE(ck_boon @ Mar 3 2011, 10:28 AM) what is ur battery consumption when using papago gps android phone? is it great? Most smartphones when on GPS will utilise a higher battery charge; minimum at least 20 % to 30% more depending on your phone. Phone also gets hotter . But this is not an issue - as most probably you will be charging your phone while using it in the car This post has been edited by benny888: Mar 3 2011, 10:47 AM

That way you have a new phone to play with, and the GPS that you always loved. I dun think that is good idea....Without access to A-GPS (No Sim card), locking can takes forever. A better option is to sell off ur N8 and buy a dedicated GARMIN GPS...only RM500 or less, depending on which model. You also dun have to worry GPS sucking ur phone battery, and locking will be quiet speedy with this dedicated GPS. Added on March 3, 2011, 11:19 amQUOTE(Matrix @ Feb 22 2011, 03:55 PM) I am currently using the PAPAGO X5...the thing is there is no way to enter a co-oordinate?? I've bought PAPAGO M7 for Bada, and it has this Co-ordinate menu and a few other things. Is there a PAPAGO M7 for Android? Or is there a way to key in co-ordinate and save it as a location? Somebody help me pleezz?? This post has been edited by Matrix: Mar 3 2011, 11:19 AM

Another advantage of the dedicated Garmin Nuvi over the N8 is that the Garmin Nuvi can play wav or mp3 sound alert. The GMXT in N8 could not play sound alert for speed trap and other warnings.

Nia...used PAPAGO X5 today for real to find a place i dunno....i think it's not so good...the voice navigation tells me to turn to early (300m) in front, and before that also tell to 'prepare to turn'...damn confusing...made many wrong turns....there is also a place which suppose to turn left, even map shows left, but voice told me to go right!!! WTF!!! Previously i use Garmin, i can depend solely on voice, no need to look at GPS...
The X5 also has this annoying "click..buzz" sound between every word of the voice navigation EXTREME ANNOYING.....I think i am gonna buy a dedicated Garmin GPS....

yeah that happens quite often, the click sound and the wrong voice instruction (left instead of right ad vice versa). However I find the on-screen representation to be quite accurate.

I've used Garmin so long never gave me wrong direction either on Symbian or Windows Mobile. When you're driving alone, voice navigation is very important because you have to keep an eye on the road and can't keep looking at the GPS. This post has been edited by Matrix: Mar 4 2011, 03:04 PM

I place my phone behind the steering wheel, resting against the speedometer when using the GPS.
