Uzumaki NaruTo: same as normal filter, multicoated, prevent flare, at best effort thou. well, marketing is very powerful, as we know, our digital sensor dont suffer from UV, but there are still so many filter marketed as UV filter, some MCUV etc, to me, they are all just glass. only sony CZ is real MC filter. LOL (kidding)
clivengu: well u need to capture the photo as fast as possible, because of the heating on the sensor. star trails is usually a merge of over 80 photoes. (if 1sec per pic, that is only 1 minute and 20 sec for 80 pics plusminus the shutter release delay)
to gain the speed to prevent it to overheating the sensor, u just need the fastest shutter (not 1/4000 laaa) possible just to be able to capture the light from the stars. it's a trial and error for first 10 pic to find the correct exposure, do not trust the metering.
so i assume if u manage to get iso400 (or iso800 on A700, or iso1600 for 550 and FF) and with F2.8, u can get a decent 0.5" to 1sec at total darkness ( u will even able to capture stars that u cant even see with naked eye!) or u may choose not to shoot those naked/soft stars, just the few brightest star is enough, then u gain about 1-2 step of speed.
infact, (theoritically, the mirror flip would cool down the sensor, even a little bit)
btw, ur A700, makesure u cover the OVF with the provided cap... or tape it with a masking tap to prevent light leak into the mirror's corner into the sensor.
amadeo: GN10k (10km?!?!?)? hahahaha, it's pointing upwards worrr... i wonder if a plane fly over, would it catch fire? LOL hahaha
