yup, MF but its not that hard to MF due to larrrrggee DOF. well, i would say it's half of sigma price biggrin.gif and this lens is added arsenal to my wedding shoting.

Added on November 21, 2009, 3:17 pmif u read in depth technical sheet of A550, it relies on its "buffer" to burst, it will stop at somepoint for 7fps RAW to process. but the 7fps jpeg is unlimited. of coz, get a decent card will do, dont get those really cheap ones. i need to dig out the technical sheet again to read to recall what's the number it can do, else, maybe albnok the walking encyclopedia could comment a little on the A550 buffer vs effect of high speed memory cards

i dunno what u guys think, there is once i try a test with my drybox. i left it open,  daytime, nighttime, days with A/C and without A/C. and raining days.

i dont know what the the % that encourage the fungus to grow, but let me tell u the result of the test above.

this reading is the % of the with the door of drybox opened.
=================Day Time ========= Nighttime
Hot day windows open ------ 60++ -------------------- 60++
A/C window closed----------- 50++ -------------------- 50-65++
Raining ----------------------- 70-80 -------------------- 80-90%

* even with closed drybox door closed, the AC will still bring the humid in drybox up by 2-5%, sometimes i see my drybox at 47%, which to me is fine.

i am quite surprised that the air cond dont really create moisture, but the metal will have moist on it. but it's dry enough.

seeing raining days humid is so high, i doubt u can even escape it from putting in a bag. NOR the humid-fier or moisture absorber could actually drop that 80% to anything near the safe 45%

if fungus are active at over60%, then 3 days of raining day will spawn spore of fungus in ur lens already. and who knows, if u put in ur closet, or someplace dark, it is wet (over 60%) all over the whole days.

some people my not think thier lens are not that expensive or worthy to get a drybox yet, until 70200G comes along. but imagine this. WHAT IF, THE SENSOR Gets Fungus? hoo hoo, i think is time for new present for christmas? a550 anyone?
*
so buy a moisture absorber ok anot?? really dont think now is the right time to buy a drybox...

The 7fps performance has an exception. That is provided AF has been obtained, then frame to frame speed is 7fps. However if the subject is moving, AF will have to do its work again and it will be impossible to gain 7fps (maybe slower). It is important to note that frame speed is not just the matter of frame to frame speed, how fast the mirror can flip and the performance of the shutter mechanism. AF performance comes into play too. If AF and metering is not obtained quick enough, the rest can't execute too. So measurements must be taken quickly and a lot of processing power is needed as well.

in 7FPS mode. the camera will preform a mirror lock up, which prevent any AF possible. and the 7fps mode, the camera will choose the constant settings from the first picture, meaning it will use the same exposure and af lock for the rest of the photo until u let go of the shutter release button.

Hey bro, no worries la... We shouldn't practice such degree of defenses. Otherwise, no one will contribute to the forum because of being afraid to be 'shot' at. tongue.gif

I was thinking maybe the 7fps was possible because you don't need to do AF anymore. Which is a little different from the 'usual' cameras I work with whereby they 'sample' AF measurement on every frame which can make their fps speed varies a little (but not much). My point was that fps time/speed can be contributed by several aspects like AF, metering, mirror flip, shutter, processing power, etc. So I was wondering if the camera is 'natively' a 5fps camera where it can 'boost' its speed to 7fps by 'not doing' AF since it is redundant (in certain situations).

Finally got my A550. smile.gif Mess it around for 30mins, found some bugs with the firmware.

When I switch the AF confirm sound off, it is silent when you focusing (which is correct). Then choose back AF confirm sound to On, it still remains quiet. Restart the camera, remove battery and insert again, doesn't solve this. Only way is to restore firmware. !=.=

Another thing is the LCD brightness.. It suppose to auto adjust the brightness according to ambient. However it does not. Tried to play around with the light sensor beside the LCD, it doesn't make any difference.

How? Warranty? tongue.gif
