These guidelines for trail behavior are recognized around the world. IMBA developed the "Rules of the Trail" to promote responsible and courteous conduct on shared-use trails. Keep in mind that conventions for yielding and passing may vary, depending on traffic conditions and the intended use of the trail.

1. Ride On Open Trails Only

Respect trail and road closures -- ask a land manager for clarification if you are uncertain about the status of a trail. Do not trespass on private land. Obtain permits or other authorization as may be required. Be aware that bicycles are not permitted in areas protected as state or federal Wilderness.

2. Leave No Trace

Be sensitive to the dirt beneath you. Wet and muddy trails are more vulnerable to damage than dry ones. When the trail is soft, consider other riding options. This also means staying on existing trails and not creating new ones. Don't cut switchbacks. Be sure to pack out at least as much as you pack in.

3. Control Your Bicycle

Inattention for even a moment could put yourself and others at risk. Obey all bicycle speed regulations and recommendations, and ride within your limits.

4. Yield to Others

Do your utmost to let your fellow trail users know you're coming -- a friendly greeting or bell ring are good methods. Try to anticipate other trail users as you ride around corners. Bicyclists should yield to all other trail users, unless the trail is clearly signed for bike-only travel. Bicyclists traveling downhill should yield to ones headed uphill, unless the trail is clearly signed for one-way or downhill-only traffic. Strive to make each pass a safe and courteous one.

5. Never Scare Animals

Animals are easily startled by an unannounced approach, a sudden movement or a loud noise. Give animals enough room and time to adjust to you. When passing horses, use special care and follow directions from the horseback riders (ask if uncertain). Running cattle and disturbing wildlife are serious offenses.

6. Plan Ahead

Know your equipment, your ability and the area in which you are riding -- and prepare accordingly. Strive to be self-sufficient: keep your equipment in good repair and carry necessary supplies for changes in weather or other conditions. Always wear a helmet and appropriate safety gear.

Anthem X3 demo was perfect. After long chat and thinking, i opt for XTC SE2.
Anthem X3 is rm5500 which i think is a bargain FS frame. Do wait for 2010 since minor upgrade on some parts and better color but at higher price (confirmed from close friend link with Giant and Giant Msia).
Also the 2010 batch is arriving Jan 2010.

Here's the line up for 2010 Anthem Aluxx based frames...taken from Giant's 2010 Catalogue. Is Anthem X4 gonna be available in Msia?

I need the touring and joyride around my taman. XTC will provide better role in these.

also due to work and family commitment, probably only maximum 1 off road trip per week.

Mrs using merida now, if she is into cycling, i may change the merida to felt or giant women bike, so budget wise i opt for 2 bike using ~rm5k.

But Anthem X3 at listed at rm5500 is a bargain for a XC full susser.

btw whom had seeen this type of stand in kl? should have bought it last time when i saw it in spore

No no no.. for the absolute overkill look. A full susser (black naturally) must be accompanied with body armor and a full face helmet for road riding
If its too panas, can always use a MET parachute with removable chin guard. With an Oakley goggle <-- Note: Goggle... not those Livestrong wimpy ones.... face will be fully covered so no one can recognize.

I think what he means is that, he wants to check for other alternatives.
He doesn't wanna purchase something that's expensive because it looks nice and feels good.

Don't under estimate the importance of MTB fashion. 

I've taken the liberty to compile an easy guide (attached) for beginner's shopping needs.

and bike shops with variety offer those alternatives.

besides, i would go for cheap stuff and improve on skills 1st. tapau ppl using stumpy fsr and full race jersey+spd while i'm on capalang bike and cheap helmet+gloves+hiking shoes makes it more satisfying.

no, fuji nevada frame. sniper's old bike. xtc is way over budget.

ah. will ask around. got some1 at lbs wants to sell merida matts 5 for rm1.2k, barely used. other than that, BBS la got 1 guy selling nexus excalibur for rm900, not sure if its a good deal. but a tbolt is a good deal if i do find any deals will let u know.

I am selling my merida 5 too. pm me price if interested. bough Sept.
Reason of sell : i am was using Merida 20 and wife using merida 5. i upgrade to XTC SE2, wife upgrade to Merida 20.
Very new. <30km milage since wife only cycle when she is in mood...
