Look at your X3. It's more or less it... maybe for shorter stem... and lose a bit of weight without going WW.

Here's an example.. 5050X I think is better for gravity... DH'ers since it's build for indestructability.

For a trail bike... something lighter yet with the same functionality like the xpedo's or wellgo MG1 will suffice.
The weight difference is 200+grams here.

If you have money to spend.. don't have to be weight obsessed but being weight conscious is good. All these little grams and decisions adds up to your whole ride.

Oh.. DEFINATELY need a new wheelset rolleyes.gif

Which Mavic you're referring to?

2 routes wat....

1) Buy wheelset .... whole thing

2) Buy/build hubs + rims + spokes + skewers

IMO.. wheels are the 3rd most uber important because.

1) Expensive: So won't be changing it like underwear

2) Makes a HUUUUUUGE difference. 100gram of weight difference can be felt. Drop 200gram and you can pedal with same/less effort on 1 gear higher.

So this is where you need to put your foot down... if you need the strength... then by all means go for the AM wheelsets.. else ... light ones are the way to go.

Depends on how much you wanna spend and what's available also.. tongue.gif

For the "affordable" factory wheelsets

FSA XC lor --> ~1.8kg
Mavic Crossrides --> ~1.9kg
XT WH-M775 --> ~1.7kg
American Classic stuff --> Dun like em but they're light ~1.6kg

OT: HeBe needs to lose some weights too hmm.gif

Bling is nice but can easily over-build and end up being heavier than his stock wheelset mar.
