1. Brand : Honda/Mitsubishi
2. Budget : 90+/-
3. New/Used/Unreg : New/Used
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI :  NA
7. Type : 5 seater.
8. Remarks :

Hi there, i am planning to get a new car for myself, typically a SEDAN. Currently I am driving a Myvi (2 years +) and I am looking into buying a family size SEDAN car that can last me for like the next 5 years. I would be selling of my 10 years old CRV japan spec for this.

I am confuse between a brand new 1.5E Honda City or a 1+/2 year USED Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT as both also comes in a relatively same price. I am also considering USED CIVIC, but the 2.0 spec is way out of my budget for 08/09.

Hope i can get some advise here.

Thanks a lot in advanced.

Cheers,
Jason

Underpowered means the car doesn't have sufficient power to satisfy your needs. Like u're travelling alone with the Alphard 2.4, the power is just more than enough. But when u're travelling with 7 people in Alphard, the 2.4 just feel like don't want to move fast.. Get it??  laugh.gif

You buy Starex, it's a new car. While Alphard u have to buy it as a used unit.
Some latest generation of Korean car serve very good FC, unlike the oldest generation of Korean car which is high maintenance and high FC.
You can get a BRAND NEW Starex with warranty, for only RM130k. You get an Alphard for 150k+, i assume it's an older model, which doesn't come with warranty (some dealer does provide warranty).
Why get a previous generation of Alphard when there's Vellfire and 2008 Alphard is around Malaysia?? Tell this to your uncle.. Poison him ! laugh.gif

hehe i would not dare to poison him about vellfire sweat.gif
somemore the car will cost much much more and we could not afford it for now cry.gif
anyway i would poison him to get starex since it brand new and have 5 years warranty or 300,000 km drool.gif
does anyone know what usually the warranty cover? hmm.gif
thanks for the info about the underpower thumbup.gif rclxm9.gif

p/s my merc w210 e200k meter pops out esp and abs and ask me to visit workshop
what usually is the problem rclxub.gif what does it effect

haha.. I am asking u to poison him to get the Starex... Not the vellfire with 300k tag...

Better get your w210 serviced a.s.a.p... Try to check with your service manual to find out what does ESP means.. it is dangerous to drive a car witnout abs, especially doing hard braking without abs.

Not going to put Naza / Kia Forte as your option?? It's a very good car that receive alot feedback from Singapore user, but not sure with the Malaysia side tho..
I will pick the Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT, as long as it's in good condition and without any internal damages.. I would buy a Naza Forte over than a Honda City, why? Because i pay for something who have same class with Civic / Altis. (C-Segment cars)

Btw, are you going to bring alot of people or family with the car??

most of the time is myself only. Sometimes with will be with one or two person. Personally I've bad experienced with Korean car.. I used to drives a inokom atos and Kia sephia - the underpowered engine and massive fuel consumption. My job nature requires me to go out for meeting quite often, so I would want to get something that is good for FC.

Stick with the 2009 Myvi.
Or if you don't mind the maintenance / services / repairing fee, then go for Waja then.

Btw, the answer isn't obvious? laugh.gif Who would want to drive a car without the basic safety equipment? Like abs, airbag, etc

Hi, i, myself also had bad experience on Korean car. It's a Ssangyong Rexton 290, the 2004 oldest generation. Underpowered, high FC, problematic transmission & 4wd transmission.
But then, those are older Korean cars.. Nowadays most of the NEWER generation of Korean car are giving good FC, with powerful engine. Like the Forte, 1.6 & 2.0 are putting out massive of horsepower.
But i'm unsure with the build quality since it's under Naza.

By the way, is RM30+- difference on petrol $$ matters for you?? If you're enough with the power of the new 1.5 Honda City, i don't see any objection on choosing that car.. It's more than enough for a daily-drive.. But there's someone who complaining the Honda City is slow, crampy, low top speed, can't dig chicks. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=30384210 laugh.gif

I personally sit on that Honda City before, the rear was quite comfort for me.. But it's quite cramp for the legs room..

Go for the Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0GT if it's within your budget, bigger car with bigger displacement engine. FC wise, it's actually depends on your right foot.. I have no comment on Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0GT since i have no experience on this car. Perhaps travis_ckf or someone else will give you a better advice on this car.

maintenance shud be ok coz my dad will bring it to do up the engine, suspension, repaint and some knocking before pass it to me.for services since it is over warranty period so i can service outside cheaper then myvi svc inside p2 sc??

After read thru post and reviews, I listed City, Latio Sport and 308VTI. Meanwhile, my friends suggest Kia Forte.

How do you guy comment on above selections? Thanks

I am more towards New cars as I am Numb in this automobile industry, my car maintenance is 100% depends on service center. I am currently crusing an OLD Good Kelisa.

I would advise to go for the myvi and the myvi is more well equipped then the kosong waja. New will be hassle free and with warranties hence maintenance should be easy.

Unless if u demand a boot, well rather consider a persona M line then a used waja.

If u just want a transport to go campus from ur home which i assume less than 5k frm ur campus, i rather go for a motorbike. If u insist, a used kancil is achieveable with ur budget.

2. more powerful compare with myvi
3. acceleration is not so good from standstill but power comes when at higher speed.....
4. good for long distance travel

As much as the waja has a better ride and handling than the myvi, how many times u will drive like there no tmr on public roads? If u gonna drive alot in the city the myvi is a good choice but unless if u travel highway alot, take a sedan.

I would prefer a newer car in ur case but it is all depending what sort of traffic u will be travelling the most. I hope this helps.

Hello..
I'm getting my first car which is either 1.1 Sutera 2006 or 1.5 Wira 1999 . These are the only choice i have for now cuz my budget is below 20k.
Pls let me know which one has a lower FC and maintenance fees.
I'm a city driver but sometimes will go for high way too maybe few times a year.

Well in that case u may as well take the waja since u require to travel long distance and bringing family around. If u can afford a new car the new persona is worth buying. But inheritate a car from family is quite a good and economical idea esp for youngsters who going to study or start working.

Avoid, i mean, must avoid the sutera at all cost. It is a nightmare to most owners and the car will be forgotten like the dreadful proton tiara. If u want lower FC and maintenance fees, i might as well rec u to go for a used kelisa or kancil. the 1st gen 01-02 kelisa can be bought within that range.
