Obviously.. The only choice is to go for Proton Saga.
Unless you're looking for 1.6.

Or get the Proton Saga SE with Red, and respray it with Black.

RM1.7k ~ RM3k salary, surely can afford a Saga. Unless u are married.

Are you looking for a new car or a used car??

2007 / 2008 Honda City I-DSL, VTEC (USED)
2005 / 2006 Honda Jazz
2002 Honda CRV 2.0

You can look in to 2007/2008 Honda City, since it's not-so-old car. And it's fuel efficient car (I-DSL model)

Hi there, but what advise are you looking for?
H22A engine, 187HP..
Yes, you can afford it with H22A engine, but it's going to consume alot of petrol if you're kind of heavy right foot..
MY advice, why not try to consider the 07 08 City?

1. Brand. = honda city

2. Budget. = max 40k

3. New/Used/Unreg. = used

4. Specs. = standard spec

5. Transmission. = don't mind AT or MT

6. NA or FI ? = STANDARD SPEC (NA)

7. Type. = sedan

8. Remarks. = which generation of city most durable and economical. im not the modifying type so pls advise me what spec should i get

my salary 2.2k. can get this kind of ride or not?
*
With your budget (max 40k), i'm afraid that u can get a 2003+ Honda City.. FYI, the I-DSi model is the more economical if compared to i-VTEC. Or if you don't mind, top up 8k and you can get a USED 2003+ Honda City (I-DSi) model. Or there's no other option, unless you're looking for OLD 1996 / 1997 / 2001 model Honda City.
RM2.2k is your net salary or what? with RM2.2k, yes you can afford a used Honda City with price range (47k ~ 5xk)
Let's assume you bought a USED 2003 Honda City (I-DSi), with the price tag RM49k and loan interest 4% and taking loans for 4 years, every month you have to pay around RM1.1k OR less for your car loan only. Excluding insurance, petrol, road tax, maintenance. But since it's 1496cc (counted as 1500cc), the roadtax won't cost much, and the insurance are actually depends on how much u insure your car, Petrol wise - it's I-DSi (L15A) model and i guess the fuel consumption will be far more better than i-VTEC <<This you have to confirm with I-DSi owners.

Maintenance wise - servicing, air filter, oil filter, engine oil, gearbox oil, brake pads, etc..

1. Brand - Proton / Perodua

2. Budget - My salary Rm 1 800 ( you do the math )

3. New/Used/Unreg - New. My 1st car must be the new one

4. Specs - Anything also can

5. Transmission. (Automatic, Manual, Sequential Manual Transmission, Tiptronic, AMT, DSG, etc) - WTF is all that ? Want manual not auto

6. NA or FI ? (NA = Natural Aspirated, FI = Forced-induction aka Turbocharged/Supercharged) - Know nothing about this

7. Type - I'm 21 years old, man . What do you think suitable ?

8. Remarks - See no 4 answer
*
Hi, with your monthly salary RM1.8k, and you're looking for a new model Perodua/Proton.
Since you're 21 years old man, i would suggest you to look into the new Proton Saga.
Why? It is much more stable than Perodua MyVi when cruising at higher speed, it's 1.3ltr, it's not a hatchback & can carry more item/luggage/people than Myvi, more suitable for a MAN.

or

You can opt for the Perodua Viva or Myvi.
But for me, it's an overprice/overrated car.
Not to mention the looks is feminine too sweat.gif

Both also national made cars, don't put high expectation on Quality. Of course, as they said Perodua has better QC than Protons, but i am unsure about this since i don't have any experience on these car manufactures.

Final advice : Test drive both of the car, and buy the car which make u feel better. thumbup.gif

Hope this will helps you guys on choosing what car, take it as a advise & remember final choice is always in your hand.

My Wanted Car, hope can provide me some ideas. Thanks.

1. Brand : Toyota or Honda
2. Budget : 80-130K
3. New/Used/Unreg : New
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : 5-6 Speed Manual !
6. NA or FI :  FI
7. Type : Preferably MPV type, but if not... 4 seater will do.
*
I don't think Honda/Toyota got bring in any NEW FI car with 5/6Speed transmission.

Toyota Caldina doesn't comes with Manual transmission..
Honda doesn't have any FI cars with 5 speed / 6 speed manuals.

Only choices, Toyota Hilux thats comes with 2.5ltr Turbodiesel engine, 5 speed manuals, 5 seater. Within your budget, u can get Full spec already.

Or try consider Nissan Navara, it comes with 2.5ltr turbodiesel engine, 174PS, 403Nm torque. And there's a rumor that Nissan is bringing in 6 Speed manual transmission for this, or already does.

1. Brand: Honda/Toyota
2. Budget: Preferable between RM 80-100k. If it's out of budget. Below RM 140/150K will do.
3. New/Used/Unreg: New
4. Specs: 4-door, Minimum 4-5 seats, Able to have space to put 2 luggages and above along 4/5 passengers, a car for all ages.
5. Transmission: Automatic
6. NA or FI : I'm sry. Have no idea in this.
7. Type: Can be anything but not convertible, truck, van, minivans, large MPV (Eg. Toyota Alphard, Honda Odyssey), large SUV (eg.Toyota Fortuner), & Land-cruiser-like cars. Preferring a modern-look car.
8. Remarks: I'm actually asking this in behalf of my family. We had a quite old car and we decided to trade that off and top up a little more for the new car. If possible, the new car has a high resale value in future.<(Minor Factor)
*
I would prefer Honda Accord or Toyota Camry if it's family car..

Unless it's for daily working adult, Honda City, Honda Civic, Toyota vios/altis will be sufficient.

Toyota & Honda has higher resale value if compare to continentals / other makes in Malaysia.

2. Budget : 100K
3. New/Used/Unreg : USED / New
4. Specs : 2.0 (year 06 and above)
5. Type : 4 seater.

Anybody could give comments on the maintainence for the 147?
Would like with my kind of salary rm3.5 k would able to maintain either both of this babies...
*
My votes go for Peugeot 308 VTI (2009 new).

Maintenance wise, should not cost you that much. Peugeot 308 wins alot of car award.

While Alfa Romeo, unless u're looking for turbocharged version.. MAFIA looking car, but maintenance wise will going to cost more than the Peugeot 308 VTI. And there's not much Alfa car around, spare parts wise might be expensive. But i might be wrong too.

Go for Peugeot 308 VTi, since it's under 100k and it's a NEW car, incase u don't like a used car. wink.gif

Hope this helps.

Any other car can intro?

Best regards and thank you

The answer is obvious, no? biggrin.gif I would recommend u to go for Honda City, since alot of people are kinda no satisfied with the Toyota Vios, some even say their quality is equal to a Perodua Myvi.. laugh.gif

173CM on Honda City is not a problem.

Honda is definitely bang for bucks.

I do not agree with victor87, however comparing both vios and city has both its pros n cons. Overall for normal driving, both city and vios will suit ur gf's needs. Just that the waiting period for city is approx 2-4 months or longer while the vios can get within 1 month.

Best of all, test drive both and see which one she prefers.
If u dont mind 2nd hand, vios and city will do great but be vary for additional cost for maintenance for 2nd hand cars. If u want fuss free, go for the brand new myvi. If got problem at least u still have ur manufacturer warranty to cover.
*
Finally there's someone who give opinions on this thread. biggrin.gif

Yes, i'm 100% agree on travis_ckf. Test drive both car and go for the car u really like/love.

This is my experience...

take it if you're looking at best value for money

I recently purchased 1 year old myvi 1.3 ezi premium. Cost 40k but here in East Msia, it cost 53k. I have another 1 year warranty. Once I have the car, I changed one damaged tyre, went to SC to get rid of rear interior noise (but in the end I solved myself) since still have one more year warranty.

The car mileage when I purchase is 23k km, fairly good, well kept and regularly service. Well, think about it, I have just saved 13k and I can afford to pay lesser or take shorter loan, i took the latter.

I can afford to trade in this car for better car in the future sooner!
The fact is
car resale value drops from 10-20% once the new car is driven out from the showroom. Then for the following year, the drop of resale value will be slower and slower... So why absorb the major impact?!
*
You're right, the car value drops instantly once they are signed & received by the owner.

But... Finding a GOOD USED car is not a easy thing, as we can't see any internal damage with our naked eyes. I think this is the main reason that most of the people don't look for the used car, unless they have their own mechanic or they had any experience on this.

If it's a GOOD used car, why not?? icon_rolleyes.gif

True, so when buying a used car, please ask for full service history. wink.gif

6. NA or FI ? NA kot?
7. Type.
8. Remarks.

im thinking bout buying used gen2 cps year 2008. price is rm50K and mileage is around 5000 to 10000km.. new gen2 would be 57K if im not mistaken.
is it 'profitable' for me to buy that car? this is my first car and i have work for 5 months. my salary is around rm2.4K.. i want to know:
-what is total cost of that car if i want to make 9 years loan?
-lowest price i can nego
-loan range. (bank can cover 90% or more?)
-interest for second hand proton car..

thanks for advice!  sweat.gif
*
I'm sure bank can cover more than 90%.. Your car dealer can solve this problem for you. So no worries wink.gif
Interest on second hand proton, i'm unsure about this, you have to check with the bank. But new car usually has lower interest than used car.

As i said, when buying a used car please ask for the service history, test drive the car.. Make sure it has no problem, then it's a good deal wink.gif

But for me, i'd pay for the extra 7k for a new Proton Gen 2..

Different person, different view wink.gif

Hope this helps

Isuzu are known as reliability .. owned 2 isuzu before.. working great ! never disappoint me.. not even once..

Agree with travis, never take 9 years loan for a used local car... Probably after 9 years, the car value would be less than 10k. Or maybe worse, 5k.

Mazda 6 for me.. It has better looks, more powerful than Accord/Camry, it's not that common on our road if compared to Camry / Accord.

I suggest Iswara or Wira, as Kelisa & Kenari are too small to fit a 178CM man.
Plus it's only a temporary car for you and only travel short distance..

*
No worry on used parts, there's always a way to get thru.

You can import from outside country and remark it as gift or what ever. They can't stop you too.
or
You can buy & install parts from our neighborhood country; Singapore or Thailand.

There's always a way.

The maintenance for the car is easy... Just the spare parts is hard to source & expensive, making the car resale value drop like doh.gif
Everyone thought maintaining a Continentals is hard, but actually are they are wrong. I owned a several Continental before, maintenance is not much different with JDMs, just the spare parts are a little difficult to source and it's pricey if compare to JDMs parts. smile.gif
