I suggest u stick with C2D 2.0Ghz + 13 inch laptop. Your main concern is the weight not screen size right? Now 13" weight just 1.6kg and more powerful. My friend just sold his CULV 1.2Ghz laptop and he is AutoCAD user too. This processor keep show "No Responding" in AutoCAD and slow.
*
actually I do concern about the screen size also.
but then maybe I can go and have a look myself to see whether I can give 13" screen notebooks a chance to woo me into buying it.

inspiron 13 with p8700 and hd4330 for rm 2999, have much better performance ^^
*
I'll look forward to see and feel these models too then.

anyway, tq guys for ur help.
I thought that I would need a week or more to check on which models to buy.
But thanks to you guys I may need only 2,3 days to check and make my decision.

I'm pretty sure you are referring to the nVidia 8600/8400 mobile GPU series fiasco...

Looking for a mid range gaming laptop with good battery life and portability.

brand: anything
budget: RM 3-4k

my current option is:

HP dm3-1031tx
- intel core 2 duo SP9300 (2.26 Ghz, 6mb cache, 1066 FSB)
- 3GB DDR3 ram
- NVIDIA G105M 512MB DDR3
- ?1.6 kg?, 13.3" diagonal
- cost: RM3499

1) i can't find any review on dm3-1031tx using google. is this a new model/ unpopular model?
2) the seller claimed it has up to 10 hours battery life. anyone wanted to clarify this?
3) Can G105M support GTA4? do i need to set the graphic to low?
4) Is the price appropriate for its specs?
5) Are there any other options available?

1) new
2) CULV are around there
3) probably lowest with reduced resolution, and still lagging
4) expensive even for a CULV...
3) Dell SXPS 16, BenQ S57

can't realy hope mid range gaming with good battery life,
try BenQ s42 for 3k. Hybrid graphic card nvidia 9600M GT & intel gma 4500mhd, if still want to retain some battery life and portability.

@astria, sp9300 is not exactly culv anymore...

seller claimed that laptop can up to 10hours battery life? Even Intel Atom also hard to do this. 4~5 hours may be can la.

Urm..not even planning to use direct power source?Unless of course you're always on the move

Asus K50ab should be a better choice if you're more towards games smile.gif
