Thanks for the quick feedback notworthy.gif
Let me check up reviews for all models listed above and see if any suit my needs.

Anyway for SXPS16 and K40AB, I don't think they belong to slim and light category? Correct me if I'm wrong. SXPS16 at 2.3kg++ while K40KB is around 2kg if my memory serve me right.

Sorry I did not state earlier that I'm looking for slim and light laptop below 2kg weight. Oh ya, prefer with Win7 preinstalled or Win7 upgrade options.

I kinda like Asus UL30A and Acer Timeline but their graphic capabilities are not that good...

Thanks again smile.gif

SXPS is entertainment laptop. Bulky weight is normal.

U can try Acer Timeline 4810TG-942G32 with SU9400 + HD4330 graphic. Weight just 1.9kg and price below RM3k. Sooner all laptop will pre-installed Win7.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Probably have a look at the design for benq now. :-) though dell has a funky look. Oh how bout the carrying case? Benq has that freebie? And it's not advisable to get in singapore? Heard electronics are dirt cheap there.

Check the warranty valid claim in Malaysia or not lo. If Asus or Dell should be no problem.

you need to customize it to have backlit keyboard, it doesn't come by default.
4gb is useless if you are not using 64-bit OS.
*
Now Studio 15 come with WIndow 7 premium 64bit by default. 6GB RAM also no problem smile.gif

so the options I have here is either more processing power for less graphic strength or more graphic power with less processing strength.
then which option will be better then?
*
I suggest u stick with C2D 2.0Ghz + 13 inch laptop. Your main concern is the weight not screen size right? Now 13" weight just 1.6kg and more powerful. My friend just sold his CULV 1.2Ghz laptop and he is AutoCAD user too. This processor keep show "No Responding" in AutoCAD and slow.

Looking for a mid range gaming laptop with good battery life and portability.

brand: anything
budget: RM 3-4k

my current option is:

HP dm3-1031tx
- intel core 2 duo SP9300 (2.26 Ghz, 6mb cache, 1066 FSB)
- 3GB DDR3 ram
- NVIDIA G105M 512MB DDR3
- ?1.6 kg?, 13.3" diagonal
- cost: RM3499

1) i can't find any review on dm3-1031tx using google. is this a new model/ unpopular model?
2) the seller claimed it has up to 10 hours battery life. anyone wanted to clarify this?
3) Can G105M support GTA4? do i need to set the graphic to low?
4) Is the price appropriate for its specs?
5) Are there any other options available?
*
seller claimed that laptop can up to 10hours battery life? Even Intel Atom also hard to do this. 4~5 hours may be can la.

Hello,

I am getting a new notebook for my cousin and would like to know the best option with a budget of around RM2000.

No OS is needed since he got his univ's license. And a dedicated gfx is important since he will play games on that laptop. No crysis though.

I've been looking around and found out that Asus K40AB and Lenovo G450 is the best options. Would like to know if you guys have otehr recommendations.

Thanks.

Both option is the best within RM2k budget.

normal surfing, check email. is the McAffee antivirus upgrade necessary? can i use other cheaper antivirus when expire?
i prefer to stick with this spec...just curious of any driver issue for the graphic card?

any problem if to downgrade to XP Pro?
*
U can always try the free AV like AVG or Avast. Besides you can option get the Kaspersky which cost below RM50 per year.

Why need to downgrade as Win 7 is better?

just wondering do KIS support Win7?
i found those selling requirements only till vista.
rclxub.gif

Win7 can open all files that support in previous version(U mean M.Office 2007 right?). I am the only one WIN 7 user in my company as I from IT dept. Others still using Win XP & Vista. haha.. Now preload with KIS 2009 and running smooth. Overall I feel win 7 is much efficient than Win XP Pro in my previous com. If u still worry,U may direct purchase the KIS 2010 which stated Win 7 supported. smile.gif

There's one thing that I am always confused about .. why are some laptop like alienware (the very basic package) so expensive while the specs are just so so . . while some other brand like acer could be so good in spec with reasonable price . .  are there any difference in term of quality ?  any advice for me ?
*
Cos Alienware is Imported from US and the R&D cost is exp.

You can consider the Lenovo SL400 or 410. Below RM2k w/o OS.
