Would like to know buying & selling Singapore Shares.

What are the recommended good & reliable brokers to buy & sell?

How is their processing/commision fees, GST?

*
The charge are:
1. Brokerage, around 0.28% for small fish or minimum charge normally around $25, which ever higher.
2. Clearing fee 0.04%
3. SGX Access Fee 0.0075%.
4. GST of 7% applied to item 1 to 3.
Normally around $30 for normal trade less than $9,000.

For big fish, lower cost.

hi, when you mean small fish do you mean $30 - $9000? What about Big Fish?

Any good brokerage that's efficient, fast & reliable & offer low cost as I hear different brokerage have different rates.

Means if you buying stock less than $9,000, normally need to pay approx. $30 for brokerage etc.

You can use CIMB invest. Or link an account from CIMB malaysia.

You need to pay S$25++ per trade.

if you buy HK shares, pay HK$60++ per trade.

but.. the cross-border trading always expensive.

2nd trading day after the new year... some of my counters suddenly lao hong at end of today pulak but considered nice run-up for swiber so far... run up to 1.14 from 1.02 in 2 days. China Animal Health goes up to 0.24 after i sold at 0.23 cry.gif This counter i regret selling because now looks like still got upside.

Interesting news today to watch out for tomorrow:-

SGX announcement: Teledata to secure S$35 Million equity line of credit from GEM, a private equity group - highly speculative but can see 0.10 soon? has already shot up from 0.015 in October last year. Anyway I holiday for rest of the week, no time to monitor speculative stocks... i'm still trying to regain back from about $5k loss because I was away travelling last time sad.gif sad.gif

Sinotel news today:- rumor that market maker Hudsons in US will start trading ADRs tonight. Anyway my TP of this is around $0.90. Will hold about 2 more weeks minimum.

China Taisan news today:- ADR Approved for trading in US... just like Sinotel! http://info.sgx.com/webcoranncatth.nsf/VwA...pdf?openelement - I think this one going to have big cheong tomorrow

ok good luck in your trading/investments!

Swiber is now at $1.24 same as Genting. So my dear friend Joshua, did you manage to sell genting at its peak on 5th Jan and switch over?

5th Jan
Genting - 1.28
Swiber - 1.14

14th Jan
Genting - 1.24 (-3%)
Swiber - 1.24 (+9%)

for me, Swiber still has upside while market sentiment is good. Genting may still catch on surprise but depends on news.

Nope, I didn't. During that time, it were increasing, I dare not go in blush.gif doh.gif

Singapore’s first casino ‘ready’ to open, awaits gaming license
Genting Singapore Plc is ready to start operating Singapore’s first legal casino as soon as the city state’s government issues its gaming license, the company said today.

Genting Singapore’s stock added as much as 4% this morning on speculation gambling may begin at the company’s Resorts World Sentosa complex as soon as February’s Chinese New Year holiday.

“We are ready,” Robin Goh, a spokesman for Resorts World, said. “We can open the casino as soon as we have the license.”

Four hotels and 10 restaurants within the US$4.5 billion ($6.25 billion) Sentosa island complex will begin accepting guests from Jan. 20. A Universal Studios theme park in the complex is also waiting for a license to operate, and will open as soon as that is issued, Goh said.

A second casino resort, the Marina Bay Sands, being built by Las Vegas Sands Corp., will open later after encountering construction delays. Singapore announced in April 2005 it was overturning a ban on casinos that had been in place since independence. Resorts World and Marina Bay are the only two casino developments approved so far.

“We believe they, Resorts World, will get their gaming license before Chinese New Year,” Aaron Fischer, a gaming analyst at CLSA Asia Pacific Markets in Hong Kong, said in a telephone interview. “We expect gaming revenues to be bigger. There is a huge gaming market in Southeast Asia.”

In a report published last month, CLSA Asia Pacific Markets said it estimates Resorts World’s gaming revenue to rise from US$2.5 billion this year to US$3.8 billion by 2013. The Singapore casino market will generate US$3 billion in revenue this year, growing to US$6 billion in 2013, CLSA said in the report.

Genting Singapore gained 3.2% to $1.29 as of 2:30 p.m. in Singapore. The stock climbed 200% in the past year, compared with a 67% gain for the benchmark Straits Times Index.

S'pore Dec exports up 26%

SINGAPORE'S non-oil domestic exports (Nodx) rose sharply by 26 per cent in December from a year ago as demand for electronics rose.

Against November, exports grew by a monthly seasonally adjusted 1.7 per cent, after the previous month's 20 per cent increase. The 2009, Nodx declined by 11 per cent.

Nodx to all of Singapore's top 10 export markets, except Japan, grew in December, especially Hong Kong, Taiwan and the European Union, which rose by 79, 127 and 27 per cent respectively.

Total trade expanded by 20 per cent in December from a year ago, while total exports grew by 23 per cent. Total imports also went up by 16 per cent in December from 2008, reversing the 3.8 per cent drop in the preceding month.

Singapore's recovery from its worst recession faltered in the fourth quarter as the economy shrank 6.8 per cent on a seasonally adjusted and annualised basis, reflecting weaker manufacturing, preliminary data showed.

The government expects growth this year of to range from 3 per cent to 5 percent, compared with an estimated contraction of 2.1 per cent in 2009.

China Sports: BUY; S$0.18;
Bloomberg Code: CSPORT SP
Bringing FIFA On Board
Price Target: S$0.35

CSPORT Signs On FIFA

China Sports (CSPORT) has signed an agreement with Global Brands Group to become the authorized exclusive distributor of official FIFA football lifestyle clothing and accessories throughout the PRC. Global Brands Group is the appointed worldwide exclusive master licensee by FIFA. FIFA has 4 segments of products, namely: (i) apparel (80% of revenue), (ii)headwear (5%), (iii) footballs (5%) and (iv) bags (10%), which complement CSPORT's main revenue source of footwear (c.60% of its 9M09 revenue). This would allow CSPORT to expand its product range as well as leverage on FIFA’s strong brand name.

FIFA has its own Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in China, so CSPORT would not need to spare any production capacity for FIFA products. Its main focus would be on the marketing and distribution of FIFA products in the PRC.

Impact

1. Increased store traffic. CSPORT will roll out FIFA Modular Stores(target: > 230) in the PRC over the next three years to distribute FIFA products. We understand that these modular stores will constitute a special section in CSPORT's existing Yeli specialty stores. In addition, prior to and during the 2010 World Cup, CSPORT will set up FIFA Official Event Stores temporarily in front of Yeli's stores. Both modular stores and eventstores would attract significantly more traffic to Yeli's stores.

2. Increased revenue and margins. The distribution of FIFA products will not only provide CSPORT with additional sources of revenue, but also improve the company’s overall margins. Based on the strong FIFA brand name,we expect that CSPORT's wholesale gross margin of FIFA products would range between 30% and 40%, much higher than its current 16% for 9M09.

3. Better brand image. The inclusion of FIFA products in Yeli's specialty stores and the association between CSPORT and FIFA would lift Yeli's brand image substantially.

Recommendation & Target Price

CSPORT will start building up the event stores from end Mar 2010, followed by the modular stores in 2H10, before opening FIFA specialty stores from end-2010. Considering the time needed to ramp-up, impact on the company's2010 earnings should not be significant. Hence, no change to our earnings estimates at the moment, while we await more specific targets as CSPORT works out the expansion plans with its distributors. Reiterate BUY, TP raised to S$0.35, based on 8x FY10 P/E. However, the deal’s overall positive impacts substantially brightens the company’s prospects and in our opinion warrants a higher target FY10 P/E from the previous 6x to 8x, which is in line with the average of its S-chip peers in the consumer goods sector.

Uncle Dow is going strong.

Citi meet expectations which is good because we are in recovery mode. Same quarter a year ago, it was a loss of $3.40 per share. this time is only loss of $0.33 per share!!!

tomorrow is IBM results. This could also be the build up for anticipating good results. Good luck in your trading!

sold all my gensp at loss of brokerage... could this be a case of sell on news? Price could have factored in opening as well as license already. Am letting go because i bought at high and for a quick punt. There may be a slow sell-down, but hope i'm wrong.

selldown is bad today also because the broader asian markets like Shanghai and Hang Seng are reacting badly due to china's restriction on credit.

Genting Singapore Plc., the unit of Asia’s largest publicly traded gambling operator, may get the operating licence for its casino in the city-state by the end of February or in March, a government agency said.

The Casino Regulatory Authority received Resorts World Sentosa’s complete license application in December, Vivian Heng, the authority’s spokeswoman, said in an e-mail.

“Based on the experience of other jurisdictions, typically such probity investigations may take about three months or more if all the documentation are complete and in order,” Heng said. “We have made good progress and are confident that we will clear the steps in good time.”

Singapore stock market is good profited site. In the U.S. financial markets, the term penny stock commonly refers to any stock trading outside one of the major exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ or AMEX), and is often considered pejorative. The official definition of a penny stock is a low-priced, speculative security of a very small company, regardless of market capitalization. For more details visit us at : http://www.hototc.com/

anyway HSI continues to be in deep red, and tonight i'm not positive about DJ.
anyway i am cutting at least 60-80% of my positions by today. if got profit, just take. if losses, just cut... sell into strength. sad.gif

many who think they are buying on dips could be catching falling knives because correction may continue. but some selective counters will still perform.

good luck to you all too.

The USD carry trade phenomenon is at play again. World markets will probably trend downwards. I tried to buy at SGD1.19 this morning but my broker did not call me to inform whether the trade was successful. I presume I did not get it. Maybe I will try again on Monday.

In my opinion, Genting S'pore's profit would not be fantastic n you have to be prepared to stay invested for a long time.

Added on January 22, 2010, 11:43 pm

SINGAPORE, Jan 22 - The benchmark Straits Times Index <.FTSTI> was 1.65 percent lower as of 0320 GMT on Friday.

The following stocks were on the move:

** GENTING DOWN ON CITIGROUP REPORT

Shares of Genting Singapore <GENS.SI> declined as much as 4.1 percent to S$1.18 after Citigroup initiated coverage of the stock with a "sell" rating and a target price of S$0.80.

"We believe that expectations for Singapore's Integrated Resorts have become irrationally bullish," Citigroup analysts said in a report, citing overly agressive consensus profit forecasts of Genting's upcoming casino operations in the city-state.

"If consensus estimates are to be believed then Resorts World Sentosa would be the most profitable casino in the world in its first full year of operation , a proposition that truly stretches the imagination," the report added.

Genting Singapore is a unit of Malaysia's Genting Group, Asia's largest publicly traded casino operator, and opened four hotels of its $4.4 billion casino-resort on Wednesday.

"If you look at the fundamentals, there is no value in Genting now," a local broker said.

"It depends on the opening of the casino. If they can get it open in time for Chinese New year and there are massive volumes of visitors, then we can still see trading spikes for Genting."

Around 0320 GMT, Genting was down 2.4 percent at S$1.20 and was the top traded share by volume on the exchange with over 105 million shares changing hands.

dow jones down 3 digts. Many investors/traders were still expecting DOW tonight to rebound, but as now sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif , will end -200 to -300???

as you can see, market hates the uncertainty... yesterday i already say... the more Obama opens mouth, the more redder things will become.

Am still very wary of the term "buy on dips" because the bottom may still be further away. Next watch, hope that dow 10k support don't be broken. Risk versus reward not attractive to be longing right now for me.

anyway even before this China & Obama 'chut' pattern, late last year some people were saying to quit the market by around end Jan to mid-Feb because funds will pull out. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

sorry for the gloom doom and if i caused anyone to sell, and somehow we see a sudden rebound hoh.... but now i feel very pessimistic when looking at DJ performance.. may be the alcohol because i just back from clubbing sweat.gif

if you are planning on long term then some of them are having good discounted price to enter already
but if you are going for short term then you need to predict on when it is the bottom...

I think Genting SP should be on the uptrend instead of selling.
I bought this counter at 67 cents and will keep until at least $1.80 before deciding what to do next.
Anything below $1.00 definitely is a bargain price.

Bharti does not disappoint!

Price Target : 12-month S$ 3.15

by: Sachin Mittal +65 6398 7950

Bharti’s 3QFY10 earnings slightly ahead of consensus due to healthy
growth in network traffic.

Upside potential for Bharti’s FY11F street estimates, if industry
consolidation kicks in another 2-3 quarters

Maintain HOLD for SingTel due to (i) National Broadband National
(NBN) related concerns in Singapore and (ii) potential pay TV
losses in Singapore.

Small investors can buy into billionaire Buffett's empire at lower cost

OMAHA, Nebraska: Peter Eischeid has long had his nose pressed to the glass of billionaire Warren Buffett's investment empire, yearning to be among those with the means to buy their way in.

No more.

Thanks to a stock split approved last Wednesday, Eischeid and other small investors plan to snatch up lower-tier Berkshire Hathaway Inc. shares that will sell for just $69 and change.

That's down from about $3,500 that each Class B share commanded before.

"I avoided that conglomerate mainly because of the entry prices of the shares," said Eischeid, 34, of Salt Lake City.

"I know there are a lot of people that will definitely be intrigued by that lower share price."

There will indeed, said Andy Kilpatrick, a stockbroker and author of a two-volume tome on Buffett's life and business.

"It now makes it available to a child who cuts grass for spending money," Kilpatrick said.

"There's nobody who can't find $66. The last time Berkshire stock was at $66 was in 1971."

Buffett has built his reputation as a savvy investor who spots quality businesses selling cheaply and either buys the stock or the whole company.

Omaha-based Berkshire has investments in such companies as Coca-Cola Co. and Wells Fargo & Co., and owns more than 60 subsidiaries, including clothing, furniture and jewelry companies.

Its insurance and utility businesses typically account for more than half of its revenue.

The company's prized Class A shares, which carry more voting rights and are not being split, are America's most expensive stock at around $100,000 each.

The Class B shares, dubbed "Baby Berkshires," are splitting 50-for-1 as a way to facilitate the company's plan to buy Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp.

Among investors drawn by the lower price is Adam Bray-Ali, a self-described small investor from Los Angeles, who bought two shares of the Class B stock for just under $3,300 each two days before the split, and planned to buy another 50 or so afterward.

But there's more at play than the stock's new affordability.

"I can go to the shareholder meeting this year," the 35-year-old Bray-Ali said.

Berkshire's annual meeting is the mecca of shareholder events, routinely drawing more than 30,000 to Omaha for the three-day affair that has an almost carnival-like atmosphere.

The event includes a shareholder reception on the eve of the meeting, various parties and a six-hour question-and-answer session with Buffett, who tosses out financial observances in terms even the most uninitiated investor can follow.

"I would say that for some young investor ... if you want to learn about investments, then the annual meeting is the place to go," Kilpatrick said.

That's a draw for University of Tennessee senior Nick Vantrease. The 21-year-old, who is president of the school's Financial Management Association, said he will consider buying Berkshire stock once he graduates in May and starts working.

He expects the split to be a key topic at Buffett's scheduled meeting with college business students next month.

"It'll be interesting to hear what he has to say about it," said Vantrease.

"It definitely makes the stock more affordable."

Terry Porter of Kansas City, Missouri, who has held Class B shares for years, believes it's not just young investors who can take advantage of the lower entry price.

"I have a lot of older people ask me what they should invest in. They don't want to be ripped off," said the 60-year-old retiree.

"I'd be the first to recommend Buffett."

Opinion is split on the effect the move will have on the stock's direction.

Plenty believe it will help the Class B price rise, especially if Berkshire's increased liquidity lands the stock in the S&P 500.

Buffett, long opposed to stock splits, said he enjoys using stock for the railroad deal "about as much as preparing for a colonoscopy."

While the man known as the Oracle of Omaha has nonetheless supported the move, some professionals don't see it as a buying opportunity.

"I'm a follower and fan of Warren Buffett, but no, I am not going to buy into Berkshire Hathaway for myself or my clients," said Mark Pearson, president and CEO of Anchor Capital Management in Minneapolis.

"I firmly believe there is greater value in other companies in the market." - AP

but if really dow 10k breaks, then imagine the mega mega sales rclxub.gif

i already very pessimistic, but yesterday i itchy hand buy, this morning cut loss

so reminds me that:-
a) at least you won't lose sleep if you lose out on profits. If caught a falling knife, then....

Wait for some positive momentum & news first. Now to enter the market is a big gamble already. want to enter, better be nimble because upside limited, downside ummm doesn't seem very limited sweat.gif

Genting Singapore (GS) arranged for a group of analysts yesterday to tour its new integrated resort Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), which recently had a soft opening with four hotels. The casino floor is already fully decked out with just under 500 gaming tables and some 1300 new slot machines. We understand that GS is now only waiting for the authorities to issue the casino license and it will be able to open its doors to the public within a couple of days of securing the license. Similarly for its theme park, GS is in the process of putting on the final touches to the attractions; and once it receives the green light, GS should be able to open its rides to the public within a week. In line with the overall market, the share price has corrected sharply over the past few days. However, with the imminent opening of its casino and theme park, we believe these developments will again provide a positive catalyst to share price performance. As such, we maintain our BUYrating and S$1.39 fair value (S$1.35 if adjusted for dilution).

finally a rebound tat kills the round 1 bear team, should i short soon? hmm.gif no pain no gain, lemme check up

The dollar strengthened and two-year Treasury notes fell the most this year as investors bet the Fed’s decision to end purchases of mortgage-backed securities, along with a more optimistic assessment of the economy, increases the odds of an interest-rate increase by October. drool.gif

0157 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: CIMB starts Novo Group (5MY.SG) at Buy with S$0.41 target, based on 6X FY11 P/E. Notes fiscal 1H10 net profit of US$5.5 million more than entire FY09 earnings of US$1.9 million. Says Novo has low inventory risks as it doesn't keep stock but only buys from suppliers after getting confirmed orders from customers. Adds industry fundamentals positive for Novo as coal prices, demand expected to keep rising this year on strong demand from China, India. Says stock may re-rate if its recent proposal for dual listing in Hong Kong approved. Stock +4.3% at S$0.245. (FKH)

this kind of news, and yet dow ding donging around?

Jan. 29 (Bloomberg) -- The economy in the U.S. expanded in the fourth quarter at the fastest pace in six years as factories cranked up assembly lines to prevent inventories from plunging.

waiting for a trigger... meltdown trigger... actually market has rebounded quite fast already. Funds will once again start selling off at the slightest hints of negative news.

Q4 S&P 500 Profits On Path To Triple

With nearly half of the S&P 500 reporting, Q4 earnings are on track to surge 206% vs. a year earlier.

Sounds impressive. But that's largely due to a big recovery from the economic and credit market meltdown at the end of 2008.

Banks swung to profits after suffering massive losses at the peak of the crisis. Excluding financials, the S&P 500 should report more-modest but still solid 15% growth, according to Thomson Reuters.

Results are in from 220 of the S&P 500 firms. A very high 78% have topped Q4 EPS views. Two-thirds have beaten sales targets.

S&P 500 revenue likely rose just 7% in Q4, or 2% excluding financials. But after several quarters of layoffs and other cost cuts, even a modest demand pickup can fuel big bottom-line gains.

Earnings likely more than doubled for the consumer discretionary sector, including battered auto-related firms. Materials companies' profits will nearly triple.

Meantime, health care and industrials are on track for single-digit profit drops. Medical firms saw relatively steady profits in the recession compared to other sectors.

Techs are on track for 53% profit growth. Most of the big caps have reported, including Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG), IBM (IBM), Intel (INTC) and Microsoft (MSFT). All but one S&P 500 tech firm have topped Wall Street views — by 25% on average.

Analysts have been been raising their growth forecasts for 2010. They now see a 38.6% overall earnings jump in Q1, 48% for techs.

That hasn't satisfied investors. Since Jan. 11, when Alcoa (AA) kicked off earnings, the Nasdaq has fallen 7.1% and the S&P 500 6.4%.

Stocks rose early Friday on the strong GDP data. But they sold off on SanDisk's (SNDK) 2010 warning and Microsoft's comment that it's not seeing much corporate IT spending. On Thursday, Qualcomm (QCOM) dived 14% on a sales warning.

I'm not sure for those still holding... there are strong signs we are going to collapse further... there are still dips i still want to buy into, but exit points will be nearby too.

Why hold long term positions for now? preserve your capital & get a good nights sleep during this time.

minimum SGD20 +RM28/40 online trade/broker +clearing fee OR 1.5% of your contract value (in SGD)whichever one is higher

from ur example, the answer would be RM76.4 /RM88.4.

Genting Singapore halts trade pending announcement

The Straits Times newspaper reported on Monday that Genting, a unit of Malaysia's Genting Bhd, has told staff and tenants the casino and Universal Studios theme park at its Resorts World at Sentosa casino-resort will open this week

SINGAPORE - Genting Singapore requested a trading halt on Monday pending an announcement, following the granting of a casino license by the Republic's regulator over the weekend.

Stock Trading is A Monkey Business

Once upon a time a man told a small village, “I will buy monkeys for $10 each.”
Since there were many monkeys in the forest, the villagers caught them and sold them to the man.

As the supply of monkeys diminished, the villagers’ efforts slowed, so the man offered them $20 each.
They renewed their efforts but the supply of monkeys diminished further, so he increased his price to $25.
Soon D_No No no one could even find a monkey in the forest.

The man increased his price to $50, but announced, “Since I must go to the city on business, I authorize my assistant to buy monkeys on my behalf.”
As soon as his boss was gone, the assistant told the villagers, “My boss has collected lots of monkeys. I’ll sell them to you for $35 and then, when he returns, you can sell them to him for $50.”

The villagers rounded up all the money they could and bought as many monkeys as possible. Then they had monkeys everywhere…
… but they never saw the man or his assistant again.

And now you understand the workings of the stock market!

that's why this counter... if play must be nimble.... fundamentals at present not strong to justify its price... better play some swiber instead unless you know some mafia gang going to push up the price again. blush.gif

why is it the most expensive casino stock in the world huh ?
*
Its huge borrowings will eat up all its prospective profits. It is likely to breakeven or make a small loss n no dividend is expected for a long time. Maybe, it won't be long it will call another rights issue to pare down its debt.
This said, this stock has speculative flavour. Everybody now is waiting to buy low and dump the stock if it shoot up.

yah 10 years, they say keep and use to pay children education next time icon_idea.gif

China sports still in my watchlist! I will buy nearer to March/April if climate is good.

Now see Yong Xin at 0.19, heartpain because last year speculate on it and never sell on news (abp 0.19 but instead of profit at 0.25, end up cut at 0.14... lose about $6k instead of profit $6k plus) sad.gif sad.gif

SINGAPORE, March 5 — Visitor arrivals in Singapore are expected to rise 20-30 per cent to 11.5-12.5 million this year, helped by a pickup in the global economy and the draw of the city-state’s new casinos, the government said today.

Singapore Tourism Board (STB) CEO Aw Kah Peng told a tourism industry conference she expects tourism revenue to rise 41-50 per cent from 2009 to S$17.5-S$18.5 billion.

“This is hugely, hugely ambitious,” she acknowledged, but said she was hoping the final result could outperform the forecast.

In January, Singapore saw a 17.6 per cent rise in visitor arrivals from a year earlier. — Reuters

KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Research Institute has revised its FY10 forecasts downwards by 3.1% for Genting Singapore to push its projected contribution from the Universal Studios Singapore theme park back by 1.5 months to beginning May (from beginning March).

It said on Monday, March 8 that although the the Universal Studios Singapore theme park opens in mid-March, it is discounting the first six weeks of operations to be conservative, given the gradual ramping up of ticket sales and ongoing technical adjustments.

"We continue to highlight a potential for earnings upgrade in our forecasts via: (1) higher revenue per patron due to management's casino target market of "above average" patrons versus our assumption which is based on a VIP:mass split of 50:50; and (2) longer-than-expected casino monopoly in Singapore should Marina Bay Sands open later than April," it said.

It said there was no change to its S$1.35 fair value, based on blended average of EV/EBITDA (12 times FY11 based on regional average) and DCF methodologies. Maintain Outperform.

Universal Studios Singapore theme park is set to open on March 18. Following the sneak peek weeks during the Chinese New Year period, it will first open the park to team members of Resorts World Singapore (RWS) and their families on March 13 for one week as part of its staff appreciation perks, before opening to the public.

Ticket sales for the opening phase will begin on March 10 and same day tickets are not available, while there will be some tickets set aside for hotel guests on
a first-come-first-served basis during this soft opening period.

RHB Research said the management had highlighted however, that this was a progressive soft opening for Universal Studios Singapore theme park, not unlike the casino, which means that limited tickets will be sold and that it is possible that certain attractions may become temporarily unavailable as it continues its technical and creative adjustments during this period.

To compensate for this, ticket prices will be partially rebated by shopping and dining vouchers valid for use at the theme park. There was no mention as to how long this preview/soft openingh phase will last except to say that it will end when RWS is satisfied that the park is ready.

"Nevertheless, we understand that on the first day Universal Studios Singapore only intends to sell 3,000 tickets, versus its full capacity of 30,000, but would gradually ramp up the number of tickets sold over the next two to three months, with the jump between each stage of capacity to be relatively large (for eg: from 3,000 to 10,000 tickets)," it said.

Genting Singapore: HOLD; S$0.90; Bloomberg Code: GENS SP
Universal Studios To Pull In Crowd
Price Target: S$1.07
from DBS Vickers Research

USS to open on 18 March: RWS will open the Universal Studios Singapore
(USS) to the public on 18 Mar 2010, a slight delay from the early-Mar
2010 timeline indicated earlier.

Tickets will start selling on 9 Mar 2010. USS one-day passes range from
SGD32-72 (depending on categories ie adult/child/senior; weekday/weekend)
- cheapest amongst Universal Studios theme parks globally (Figure 2).
USS’ two-day passes range from SGD58-118, higher than Universal Studios
Hollywood’s due to the larger physical design and no of rides. USS’
annual passes, however, rank as the most expensive among Asian theme
parks (Figure 3), at SGD318-1098.

Although USS ticket price would be at a premium to Disneyland Hong Kong,
Ocean Park and Genting Highlands, USS offers an integrated resorts
concept and more rides. The Universal Studios brand has a strong proven
track record, with Universal Studios Japan ranked 9th most popular theme
park in the world, and third in Asia with 8.3m attendance in 2008 (11m in
its first year of operations).

New original rides to attract visitors. USS will consist of seven zones
ie Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far
Far Away and Madagascar. There will be 22 rides in the park and 16 of
them are original or specially designed for USS. We understand most of
the rides (>80%) will be opened in the first year (unlikely all on the
first day of launch) while the rest to be introduced progressively over
the next four years to attract repeat visitors. Among major highlights
are the dueling coaster (world’s tallest roller coaster) and Transformer
ride (world’s first, expected in 2011). USS is 70% covered, with an
eco-cooling system installed to create a more controlled environment.

Universal Studios has promised that this will be the only park it would
have in Southeast Asia for the next 30 years and expects to draw in >5m
visitors annually (14k/day). However, competition could intensify with
Universal Studios opening new themeparks in Dubai and Seoul, Korea
(likely Asia’s biggest Universal Studios) by 2012 and 2014 respectively.

Slow start seen for visitor arrivals. The launch of USS should help draw
in more mass visitors to RWS. Visitor arrivals have fallen short of
management’s expectation of 12m p.a. or 33k/day, having averaged only
~20k/day in the first two weeks of casino’s operations (during the peak
Chinese New Year celebration). RWS’ casino may need another 4-6 weeks to
fully ramp up to 560 tables and 1300 slots. So far, it has opened 270
tables (50 VIP, 220 mass).

USS’ opening will complete the launch of RWS’ Phase 1 while Phase 2 is
expected to complete by 2011. USS should provide RWS a more subtle
approach in its marketing and promotional activities in countries where
advertising on gaming is banned.

Maintain HOLD call. Although GENS has fallen 31% off its peak and
valuations have moved closer to sector average (26x 2011 PE, 14x
EV/EBITDA vs sector’s 17x and 12x respectively), we are still maintaining
our Hold call and sum-of-parts TP of S$1.07. Potential risk of further
earnings downgrade should RWS’ ramp up is slower than expected and Marina
Bay Sands (launching on 27 Apr 2010) wrestles more market share than
anticipated. We prefer Genting Bhd (Buy/ TP: RM8.80) for cheaper exposure
to Singapore IRs and resilient base earnings from Malaysian casino,
plantation and power segments.

For those who can afford, naturally Bungalows are their preferred choices.

Though flats could be selling at low PE.

Yup, nuffnang provides such a service.

In addition, I inserted google analytics as well, although I don't really use it because nuffnang's one is really convenient.

SINGAPORE, 10 March 2010 – Singapore Exchange Mainboard-listed Aztech Group Ltd (“Aztech”) today announced that its subsidiary Shiro Corporation Pte Ltd (“Shiro”) has ventured into the canned and frozen food business. Shiro targets the retail and food services market in Singapore and overseas with the mission of supplying restaurant grade quality food under the brand name of Jade or "Yu Huang" 《玉皇》.

Aztech to me is poised to boomz from the implementation of the NGN in Singapore. It happened when Singapore switched to ADSL. It shall happen again as Singapore transits to the new fibre optic network for high speed internet access.

Marine Logistics look like a defensive business to me. Materials Supply I'm not so sure... This new F&B venture I'm not too sure either, but if it tastes nice, food should be moderately defensive as well... Looks like they aim for defensive plus growth potential to diversify into... Plant a little seed into that area and see how it goes...

Hey guys, can i know how you guys declare dividend on income tax?

Comfort delgro tax exempted,
strait asia tax exempted,
midas one tier exempted, and
singtel not exempted...
which means i only need to declare on dividends i collected from singtel?

Considering between SP Ausnet and CitySpring.... Tough Choice sad.gif
Already have 13 lots of CitySpring average 0.51....

Or should I work hard hard and get both? SP Ausnet has higher yield, but susceptible to Aussie dollar fluctuations... CitySpring not as susceptible, but lower yield. One backed by Singapore Power, the other by Temasek Holdings...

But hor, I have nothing much that I want to sell... But will take his advice on top of personal analysis to park new funds sidelines so that my cash position will slowly increase smile.gif

93.5% in equities, remaining in cash now... As time goes on, should be able to modify this percentage via income and dividends...

Hey guys and girls,

I just put some of my hard earned money into SG stock account.

Where do I start to do homework on what good dividend stocks to buy?

Also, any taxes or declaration to do on Msia side if SG pays me some money?

Thanks.

They will charge with the rate on the day of the purchase/sale.
SGD/RM and RM/SGD is quite straight forward.

Withdrawal will require you to fax the request to iTrade for them to transfer the cash from the trading account to your savings account (any bank)

Cheers

I bought this stock before at 34 cents and sold at 60.5 2 years ago. fundamentally this stock is worth to hold and they venturing into China market for the palm base products as well as foodstuffs company. I'm waiting it to fall below 55 vents before going in again.

healthway? during first quarter i remember it was badly hit by fall in revenue/profit and price got sold down from about 0.16 to 0.14 range, but then some one came along and save it... then it shot up to its highest at about 0.205 half-month later. i'm not familiar with FA, but i guess if you bought in near the same price as this guru... then you are safe to hold. but if bought at high of 0.20, then .... blush.gif

STATEMENT:
Former remiser king, Lim Eng Hock (also known as Peter Lim),
has increased his deemed stake in Healthway Medical .
Mr. Lim bought 14.6 million Healthway shares from the open
market, at S$0.15 each, through Kestrel Capital Partners Pte Ltd.
This brings his deemed interest to 5.75 percent from 4.96
percent. Mr. Lim is known to be a savvy investor, and we think
this would attract more interest in this stock.
We believe that Healthway has sound fundamentals and it is on
track to grow its business. It recently expanded its specialist
and wellness services in several areas, positioning itself as a
leading specialist healthcare provider.
Its expansion plans in Shanghai are also on track, which
would pave the way for more medical centres in other key cities
in China. Hence, we are maintaining our view there is still value
in Healthway, as its expansion is expected to boost growth. We
are estimating earnings of S$16.0 million ($11.32 million) and
S$27.0 million in financial year 2010 and 2011 respectively. At
S$0.155, the stock is trading at 17 times 2010 financial year
earnings.

This Peter Lim guy is also into this informatics counter which was 0.055 on 20th July and today is 0.215. A four-fold increase in less than a month! i jumped in late & now buying at near its highest point of 0.225... very big gamble, so this one will have a tight stop loss although i hope it can touch 0.30. shakehead.gif

i just follow news, rumors, some FA... more like the a gambler instead of investor la... biggrin.gif no one should follow me pls.

Genting Singapore...huat ah!!!!

Added on August 13, 2010, 11:54 amJust would like to share some info received fm DBS Vickers pertaining to Genting Singapore recommendations.

Genting Singapore: BUY S$1.28; Bloomberg: GENS SP
Striking A Gold Mine;
Price Target : 12-Month S$ 2.00 (Prev S$ 1.60)

· Stellar 2Q10 results, beating our already above-consensus forecast by 33%

· 2H10 could match 1H10, as operations ramp up; potential wildcard from
entry of junkets.

· Increase FY10-12F earnings by 30-70%; valuation is undemanding at 11x
2011 EV/EBITDA, similar to peers.

· Maintain BUY, TP raised to S$2.00 (from S$1.60), based on sum-of-parts.

Trumping expectations. 2Q10 net profit came in at S$397m (2Q09: S$30m net
loss; 1Q10: S$107m net profit, ex-exceptionals), driven by RWS’ full
quarter contribution (adjusted EBITDA: S$504m vs 1Q10’s S$109m, based on
first 45 days). RWS’ still enjoyed 1 month of “monopoly” prior to MBS’
opening, along with above average VIP win percentage, which led to higher
VIP/grind mix of 60:40 vs 1Q10’s 50:50. Foreigners constituted ~2/3 of
casino patrons (mainly from Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and India). Average
table count has risen to 380 (1Q10: 300), comprising 100 VIP and 280 mass
tables. Daily net win per table was comparable to Macau, while slots ~US
$500 (Macau: US$200). EBITDA margin (on normalized win rate & net revenue
after rebates) was ~52% (1Q10: 48%, ex-pre-opening cost), boosted by
higher-margin direct VIPs.

Operations ramping up. RWS has opened up Maxims Platinum and Crocksford
Premium (VIP) along with Ladies Club on the mass gaming floor, raising
table count to 410. Management is targeting 450 tables and 1500-1600 slots
(1200 currently) by end-10. After chalking up 3m visitor arrivals in 2Q10
(20-30k daily to casino), RWS has raised its 2010 target to 15m from 13m.
Seasonally stronger 2H10 should be boosted by the F-1 race and Youth
Olympic Games.

Raising FY10-12F earnings further by 30-70%, on faster ramp-up, higher VIP
daily net win per table (US$24k from US$20k), delay in entry of junket (to
2011), and stronger EBITDA margins. Our TP is lifted to S$2.00 (from S
$1.60), based on sum-of-parts. Correspondingly, we increase Genting Bhd’s
FY10-12F earnings estimates by 15-21% and TP to RM10.80 (from RM9.40),
based on sum-of-parts. Maintain BUY on both.
