QUOTE(AlphaBeta @ Oct 11 2009, 01:27 AM) SOME are expensive...not all.. Sony has the cheapest FF camera..yummy..but if u can afford the N and C's FF...it is better every brand has an entrance level camera thats good enough for beginner...and every brand has their own high end cameras which satisfy every pro(i guess when u r a pro..u shd not be biased)..so i don see y sony is specially good for beginners while C n N is better when u move on to FF..Sony is pretty nice for beginners to start off. its hard not to be a fanboy.
about the beginner DSLR...i still think sony is good. Wireless flash is nice..and the grip is comfortable compared to d60 and 1000d. |

AlphaBeta: Undeniably, the professional-level offerings from Canon and Nikon have more features, but if you need an autofocus Zeiss or say the 135mm F2.8/T4.5 STF, you have no choice.

QUOTE(noprob @ Oct 11 2009, 12:07 AM) me @braynumb : sorry bro, actually im asking sp00ky if he see any 30F2.8 thr... tried out A550 at sonystyle, the hi iso really very good at 1600 n 3200. when comparing with A300, it's at least close to iso800. weight n grip bout the same. ovf is larger, sss indicator is very much easier to see in ovf which is good as i hv problem with my A300. manual live check will zoom closer to the subject but dun really know how to use it. screen is large n clear. comes with a very unique feature, face detection coupled with smile shutter will make self portrait easier without the need of self-timer but must smile lor |

AlphaBeta: This, most simply, shows how the STF works optically:
![]() Note that unlike the Defocus Control or Soft Focus lenses, it does not add a layer of haze or soften the out-of-focus area. Instead, every single out-of-focus point is graduated from the center. Thus there is never an out-of-focus thick stripe with bright outlines (bad bokeh!) Also, the front element is oversized so that all OOF points are perfect circles (the 135mm F1.8 in the comparison, gives cat's-eye bokeh the further away from the center.) |

i understand a300 is obsolete but what is the last pricing for it (as a guidance only)? i intend to get it as my 1st dslr because of its 'live view' where else nikon & canon do not have?

U may use photoshop to lower down the noise or get a better FF with a price of course. woah..i have not even been to anywhere outside malaysia except australia. Shooting under snow isnt my problem to worry too. But i really would like to shoot under heavy rains...i missed out few opportunities to shoot some events due to heavy rain! Im sure a700 onwards are able to shoot under rain..but im not going to risk it..coz they are no strong prove or ppl tried to shoot under heavy rain and claimed tht it has no problem.weather proof wise..well..being an asian guy..too bad i hardly bring my slr to play around with snow..the only chance i had when i was on my trip to korea..my humble a300 works fine..but of coz i never cover it with snow purposely(whats the point anyway)..and i remember i read about an article writing about bringing a900 to some extreme weather..and it works perfectly alright too..but again..its good to have function..but how many of us do that? wireless flash is good...i seriously feel the need of it after i migrated to a850..but dont feel like spending money on extra flash yet T_T grip wise..actually as long as its not too small...most of the grip i've tried(D90..D300....350D..5Dm2..50D..a300..a850) works fine on my palm..perhaps im not that picky.. wireless for the win! all DSLR grips are good for me except 1000d,d40,d60 and Pentax...gosh i hate pentax the most.. |

QUOTE(ieR @ Oct 11 2009, 02:58 AM) go check out A330. i've read photographyblog review about the a330, it is not as good as a300 in term of handling & feel. as for a550 is still very new & the price is not gonna be lot cheaper than the obsolete a300. my main consideration is i'm a beginner & a300 already given what i need anti shake, anti dust & live view + most of all a more affordable price for me to learn b4 climbing up the ladder. hopefully i will join this Orange legion very soon & by that time i'll definitely be more active in this thread for more guidance from all sifus here.
