b4 i bought my miniature schnauzer, i did some research on the net. some dogs shed more than others. dogs like pugs (even tho they have very short fur) shed quite a bit.

miniature schnauzers and poodles are some of the breeds with minimal or less shedding. perhaps your dog belongs to a category that sheds more

Hi, since your dog is a mongrel it's quite hard to know whether its parents are from shedding breeds or not. Most dogs do shed though, some more than others. If from what you said your dog's body shows no sign of baldness and he's healthy and active, he's probably just shedding smile.gif If you are concerned about his coat, you could give him some supplements for the body and coat. There are quite a few good oil/paste supplements for coat. I used to give Scottie a brand called 'MyBeau'...but now I give him human grade salmon/fish body oil. You could try that too smile.gif Hope this helps a little!

u can check out the above link.

but as "rayne" said, it is difficult to ascertain if your dog is from a breed that sheds more fur

sorry for bugging in your house of schnauzers ;(

so shedding is normal for some breeds huh , btw my dog is 1 year old , when i first got him i can still put him inside my house and play with him but now eventhou he's outside , i can still see his fur in my house sometimes ...

fyi , i used frontline spray on him before , does this have anything to do with it ?

that so called oil and paste supplements , are they avaliable in pet stores ?

ok...since your dog already 1 year old... the probability for the coat changing isless... but still there are chances for an junior adult dog to chnage their coat.

some dogs are allergy to frontline some goes to other brand of pesticide. this might be one of the reason of the crazy shedding...

try to groom the dog using rubber comb so that u remove all the dead coat..this can actually lessen the amount of fur around your house.

long long ago , i used to have a spitz.

it was kept outside the house. even then i could find balls and balls of dog fur inside the house ...........

the schnauzer is so different. it does not shed that much (in fact almost NIL) whenever i brush the dog

Hi all
It has been a long long week for me and wife, after we sent our MS for an ear crop operation. Poor kiddo, came back limped, and can't stand nor eat properly. Wife had to sleep with him on the couch while cradling him. sad.gif We had to take turns looking after him, making sure he gets enough rest, take his medication and enough food.

Anyway, it has passed one week, and has stitches removed yesterday. Still in his dunce-cap, so for now he is restricted at home, thus we won't be able to go for the MS meetup. Hopefully he recovers by Christmas, we can get a Santa Claus shirt for him.

You guys enjoy the gathering ya, if there are another, we will try to make it.....

Since you mention that you have just bought a dog, I would assume that it's a pup and it's very new to your home. In that case, NEVER ever beat or force the pup, especially when they have just been introduced to your home. House training needs time, lots of patience and CONSISTENCY. You do not expect a pup to immediately know where to pee or poop the day it has been brought back when you haven't taught him/her where to go in the first place. It's like telling a baby not to pee an poop in the diaper the first day you brought the baby back.

Disciplining is important, but it only comes when the pup has already known the house rules and have broken them, NOT before. There are lots of sites out there which guide first time owners how to house train their pups. I would suggest you go Googling for them and do a good read up. Beating and forcing will only make your pup fearful of the house and not bond with you. Hope that helps.

Scottie has never done that before, so I guess I can't say much about it, but I have read before that dogs sometimes do that in general (not just Schnauzers). It could be because that they have not fully digested their food or something like that. Best way is just to do what you are doing now: clean it up before he gets the idea in his head smile.gif
