How recent did you purchase? I have actually found librankl before, but he has been on vacation for some time edy, so unable to buy. But if i am not mistaken the available sizes are a bit limited now too.

Hi guys need help
this new boots I worn for few days found some marking on leather
don't recall have any oil or tar spilled

Horween Chromexcel leather

1st pic = cleaned with saddle soap (wet)
2nd pic = cleaned with saddle soap (dried)
3rd pic = original color

as I use my boots carefully and only use Saphir shoe cream for condition
shouldn't leave any blemish on the leather

How can I remove the blemish?
have a bit OCD when found imperfection

Appreciate any advice.. thanks

Hi all, I giving away this "Good year welted" German Army Trainers that I bought from Taobao, sadly it doesn't fit me that well, and the sole is too stiff for me.

The midsole is made of leather but it is pretty tough and hard. Hopefully someone will appreciate it more. This is a size 8 UK shoe, I wear size 8 but it's a bit too narrow for me.

One of the shoe is darker because I tried applying dubbin to soften the leather, that's how stiff the shoe is.

I've not bought any shoes in a while since I feel I have a healthy rotation and decided to maintain a healthy bank balance instead. To the point that I forgot what's the name of my favorite style of dress shoe (Adelaide brogues).

So naturally I took to Google and found this amazingly complete guide/article.

https://www.misiuacademy.com/types-dress-shoes-guide/

Edit: ugh, would like to slightly retract my statement. It is complete and good in terms of styles. Some parts like GYW being the most solid construction for dress shoes is not correct. That honour falls to the more traditional handwelted construction, which GYW emulates but cuts some corners in order to allow machines to do some of the work.

Thanks for the informative link, niakulah.

But over here in MY, pretty hard to find any good affordable hand welts, eh?
Pretty disappointing, but till now, P Lal is still the most accessible, followed by WJ.
Did I miss anyone new "stars" that came ashore recently, that widens our choices?

Cheers

I'd settle for available...heh. What handwelted shoes does P Lal and WJ Co carry? I've not been to P Lal in years.

Guys, anyone know where to find Oxford shoes for large feet? I normally wear UK 12.5 Adidas and my feet are 30cm long heel to toe. Are there any affordable options as well as I'm only gonna wear it occasionally so it doesn't have to be of great quality?

Hello everyone,

Looking for a stylish comfortable leather shoe for an upcoming black tie event.

Prefer oxfords or loafers

My budget is <500

It's gonna be used once or twice a year so no issues with durability.
Should I just go to P Lal to get a recommendation? I need it to be one that can be directly bought from a store in KL.

I browsed through some brands such as Clarks, Alain Edmonds, Mark & Spencers but not sure which of them are good.

This faithful pair will complete their 7th year with me soon.
[attachmentid=10786634]

It spent a bit more than a year under a rubber topy before I went au naturel. Toe tip was switched to rubber. Heel toplift has been replaced 4 times. Laces have been replaced twice.

[attachmentid=10786635]

Welt is coming apart at the join. Slightly disappointed that there even is a join in this location. This is not a 360 degree welt construction, they could have easily used a single piece of welt from heel to heel. But...cost cutting.

[attachmentid=10786637]

A few years back Mr Minit told me they can do a Goodyear welt sole replacement and that they will replace the welt as part of the process. Soon I will have to see how good a job they can actually do.
*
So the Mr Minit branch that I went to closed down permanently due to MCO...

So I sent it to my usual cobbler. I have 3 other shoes in my rotation, so I was prepared to write off this pair if the worst happens.

So...this is what came back.

Basically the shoe is no longer Goodyear welted. The sole from the waist forward was cut and removed. A sole piece was glued to the shoe, and stitched through the cork footbed and insole. This is more or less a Blake stitch by hand.

Then another sole was glued to the previous piece. No stitching, just contact adhesive/cement. This effectively made the previous piece a midsole. So my GYW shoe is now....a cemented Blake-Rapid? Lol.

Finishing from this pakcik is excellent as usual. Cheap too at RM70. I've mentioned him before. He is the cobbler beneath the mosque in UTC Galleria/Kotaraya downtown JB.

Hello, can anyone recommend a cobbler in KL area that can replace goodyear welted soles. Edit: I don't mind the cost. Just wanted to find good cobbler that can restore my Herring shoe.

Hey guys like to ask whether my Saphir cream is normal. I have this cognac color cream and the consistency is super watery like a jar of melted ice cream. In comparison to the neutral cream I have and those video I saw on YouTube the consistency should be more solid and like a hair cream?

In your first pic, looks like separation has occurred? Might need to give it a good mix. That will likely make it even more watery though...

I don't think that is normal though. Not for any of mine anyway.

1 year old Barker Semi Brogue and TLB Double Monks. Wearing them everyday to work. Rotating in between them together with 1 pair of my Aldo dress shoe.

I mirror shine them once a month, use Saphir Renovatuer once every 3 months. Loving them since the day I owned.
