QUOTE(EpsilonStar @ Jun 30 2022, 03:53 PM) Depends on the type of toe plates you are looking for? Normal ones are just screwed onto the soles. These can be done a Cobblerman, can't remember if he uses plastic or metal ones. Then there are lulu or triumph toe plates that are installed by skiving the sole, then screwed on to make it flush with the whole sole to avoid snagging on carpets, scratching floors, etc. You will have to buy the lulu or triumph toe plates yourself, afaik nobody sells them here. |

I guess I will abandon the idea since I also don’t know any reliable cobbler, let alone doing something like this. Just a guide for you to show to any competent cobbler you trust in your area. Looks like more common abroad, at least as shown in YouTube 😄Then there are lulu or triumph toe plates that are installed by skiving the sole, then screwed on to make it flush with the whole sole to avoid snagging on carpets, scratching floors, etc. You will have to buy the lulu or triumph toe plates yourself, afaik nobody sells them here. |

Recently I've been spending way too much time looking at locally made shoe. From what I've gathered, there a number of companies specialize in making handmade shoe. In terms of styling, they tend to lean towards the western cowboy style, most of their lineup tend to be boots, slip on shoe, and moccassin loafers. Notable brands are Kangaroo, Men's Club, Eagle Hunter...etc
In regards to construction method, if my assumption is correct, they often prefer stitch-down method and blake-stiching. The only GYW manufacturer I've found in Malaysia is POLICE, however, nearly 99% of their line up is safety shoe. Price wise, I think they're considered a bargain for a handmade leather shoe, ranging from RM200 - 350. In any case, these are the photos I found online if anyone of you is interested. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If you can read Chinese, most of these companies originates from Serdang, this article tells the story of the shoe industry over there. https://guangming.com.my/%E3%80%90%E6%B2%99...%8A%9B%E4%BF%9D This post has been edited by pixelrider: Jul 21 2022, 11:24 PM |

Are Pallas shoes ok for general use? They seem durable but are they tight or what? Do they make you look like a schoolboy?
Will bundle shoes last long? Do they usually last a long time? |

QUOTE(Kuncilagi @ Jul 29 2022, 03:41 PM) Are Pallas shoes ok for general use? They seem durable but are they tight or what? Do they make you look like a schoolboy? Depends on the style you pick, Chuck Taylor clone are tight by nature due to their slimmer design, so you may need to upside, however the other design by them are wide enough for most. Will bundle shoes last long? Do they usually last a long time? If you pick the design that are common in school, well people are going to notice it. Just pick whatever design you like lol. Durability wise, it's pretty good for what it is. Bundle shoe really depends since it could be anything ranging from generic PU shoe with a month of life left, all the way to well used handmade shoe. If you simply want a durable and cheap beater shoe, can consider Warrior shoe, only cost about 20 on shopee and they look decent enough. |

Hi Guys, I am looking into my second pair of GYW shoe. Eyeing for a pair for TLB Mallorca Double Monks Strap - Main Line. Anyone got any experience on their shoe? I had search online and seem like most of the reviews are good.
My current GYW shoe was Barker - Oxford Semi Brogue with Dainite sole. |

Anything specific you are looking for?My current GYW shoe was Barker - Oxford Semi Brogue with Dainite sole. In general, am very happy with TLBs. The construction is top-notch, and the leather used is lovely. On par with my Carminas, and "fanci-er" than Loakes which is very conservative. I have no experience with Barkers to give you a more objective comparison. lvoonjian8888 liked this post

I am looking into a pair of TLB Main Line Double Monks Keaton with Alan last. Seem like your user experience is same as those review TLB shoes at Youtube which is great! I am comparing TLB Main Line Double monks with Cheaney Imperial line currently. In general, am very happy with TLBs. The construction is top-notch, and the leather used is lovely. My first love in this world of 'nice shoes'. Allen Edmonds Strand, bought somewhere in 2017 used from the Bay and has serve me well ever since. Still looks almost brand new despite it's age. Goes to show you how important it is to invest in quality shoes.

Just received my pair of TLB Double Monks Keaton Alan Last in Brown. Love the shoe very much. The shoe came with F Fitting. It hugs my leg nicely, I would said snug fit. Quality is top notch in this price point. I got it from Pediwear Closing Down deal around £183, after my country duty tax & shipping fees, it is around £231. Love the brown colour. Not too light nor dark which make the shoe very versatile when it comes to clothes or suits matching. Besides, the shoe come with minor bevel waist, never thought I can get bevel waist shoe in this price point. Below is the shoe pictures before I shine it, will post more photos once I done the mirror shine. ![]() ![]() ![]() atypicalist and niakulah liked this post

Hi guys. Is there anything that can be done if the front end of the shoes are squeezing your toes a bit (to the point of discomfort)? I suspect the last is not suitable for my feet because other aspects are ok (length, heel)

But if i am not mistaken the available sizes are a bit limited now too.![]() |
