i started with asahi in penang as sales engineer. with rm1.8k basic (2007) and left 2k(2009) with average of 2.6k mthly included bonus.

then i was with sony 2009-2010...basic 2.2k penang...including all claim and incentive about 2.8k-3.6k...but work like hell 8am-10pm daily... even sat n sun...less than 10days off day my time with sony

now local cinapek company...basic 2k...slow start..but very happy life...

I started with 2k as a freshie. Then after 3 months RM2250, after 10 months RM2500. But i quit after getting my RM2500. Don't think the company would be good for me in long term. But i was snatched right away from another vendor company. Now, i may say i am comfortable with where i am, but deserves better though.

the working environment is ok la.. but not much benefit..

I don't know what newspaper you read that says 'it killed all workers', but my newspaper told me that 100 among 126 workers were saved by the life boat. Every job has its risk, the higher the risk is, the better the pay will be, that's the rule of living. Offshore is not that dangerous as you think, I have seen 3 accidents happened infront of me, but for me these accidents are avoidable.

That's quite a good jump in 10 months, isn't it? I'm earning peanuts though after almost working for 2 years. Thankfully enough I found another job which pay slightly better. But I guess you already know.

Note: Probation period is 3 months (might even be shorter if I perform well). After probation, my salary will be increased RM200 ~ RM300. After 6 months of my commencement date (or in other words, after confirmation), my shift allowance would be doubled-up (around RM500+-)

Working Hours: 7.30am ~ 7.30pm (3 days work, 3 days off, 3 days work, 3 days off ~ 15 working days only per month)

What do you guys think about the salary? One thing that I know is that I can save up on meals (I will eat lunch for only 8 days, as for the rest 7 days, I can tapau from home since I would be working night shift), petrol and tolls.

GOOD~! compared to 5 days job grrr. but if there night job then i think its too low. coz i know few other companies which have shift.. automatically freshies will get > 3k. you can try hp for a start.

Last time i work with Schlumberger-Atos as Network Operator/Engineer. (1 yr contract) - abt 7 years ago..
also 12 hrs shift 8am-8pm /8pm- 8am. Work 2 days, off 2 days. The day/night shift will rotate after the 2 days off.
Have 2 hrs break on working days. Very tirng especially night shift and end of the mth where need to do alot batch processing, printing and sort out the reports to mail out. Sleeping pattern need to adjust alot. Sometimes i just go sleep for 2 hrs during my break at night shift work..

Pay?
Basic RM 2800.
Shift Allowance RM 500.
Public holiday work get 2X pay and transportation can claim, oil, petrol, toll just produce receipt.

for diploma the last heard starting salary was 1.5k - 1.8k not more. Btw why not taking your degree? Reason so is i have few colleagues who only have diploma and due to the fact they do not have a degree the company will intend to use this factor to:
1) not promote you
2) press you on your salary

P/S: They are extra hardworking, extra knowledgeable compared to other staff but yet the company treated them unfairly.
