Apple Experimenting With RFID-Enabled iPhone Prototypes
QUOTE

Near Field Communications World reports (via 9 to 5 Mac) that Apple is rumored to be testing a prototype of its next-generation iPhone equipped with a radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip. The rumor comes from a "highly reliable source" who provided the information to Einar Rosenberg, Chief Technology Officer of Narian Technologies. Rosenberg writes:
Had to share this news. A highly reliable source has informed me that Apple has built some prototypes of the next gen iPhone with an RFID reader built in and they have seen it in action. So its not full NFC but its a start for real service discovery and I'm told that the reaction was very positive that we can expect this in the next gen iPhone.

Apple has filed several patent applications related to RFID, which uses low-power radio waves to allow devices to interact over short ranges. The technology is currently being used in a number of settings, including electronic vehicle toll and mass transit system fare collection and contactless credit card transaction implementations.

Q: What is the official carrier stand on tethering? (iPhone, M'sia, Maxis, Digi)

It doesn't say any where clearly... so i thought to get some answers here. Is the tethering charge inclusive in the iPhone plans (eg. Maxis) or you do have to pay extra for tethering enabled like in other countries? If you do over the limit (i'm sure this is a cap they are not dumb) what are the additional charge rates?

If you read back a few pages or posts back you will notice that are quite a few of us that experienced the same issue.

This happen when you are in an area where the signal is low and the signal will be dropped. The problem is that IPhone is unable to resume back the signal which requires us to either restart or reinsert the sim card which is troublesome. Quite annoying though for me... I wonder does this just happen in Iphone or what..

No solution for this problem yet.

try it with various wireless AP and whether does other iPhones are not able to detect as well.

it may be issues with the AP, or iPhone's firmware/hardware.

Recently i am experiencing very slow downloads in itune and the link keeps on broken. The same goes to accessing the Apps Store as it take very long time to load up the page.
The worst part is i am unable to update the newest firmware as the same error msg 'The network connection timed out, Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again'. My internet connection is fine and able to surf and download from other website but always having problem with itune downloads.

Anyone can shed some light on this issues?

@lonewalker,
As Maxis is our official iPhone carrier, obviously the official carrier stand on Internet Tethering is with Maxis.

When you Internet Tether U will be using your data service package; most of the iPhone plans come with some form of data services but whether it's sufficient really depends on how much you tether. Presently there's no additional surcharges on Internet Tethering with Maxis but U definitely do no want to use more than what's subscribed as it will cost you either 1sen/kb or 0.5sen/kb [depending on your current plan] for any additional data used.

Hi, i hope this is the correct thread to get some answers.

I have an unlocked iPhone 3G from australia that is fully unlocked by optus. when i was in australia, using 3G service was not a problem. however, i signed up for digi internet (3G) services couple of days back, and up until now, i havent been able to detect any 3G signal. Is there something wrong with my phone? if yes, how do i fix it?

Thank you in advance.

i have no issues with iTunes or downloading from the App Store. just downloaded the new firmware & purchased few apps last night. the culprit might be your internet connection.

you can download firmwares via direct link rather than through iTunes. check out the link given below, post #2.

AP = access point. ie. issues with your ISP, router connection etc. why don't you get another iPhone to log on to that particular network & see does the problem persist or restore the phone. smile.gif

Have you tried the digi broadband service with other phones? I suspect that those broadband simcard can only be use with the USB modem and not with phones (correct me if i'm wrong)

Added on November 7, 2009, 9:46 pmOpps ... it seems you're not using the broadband service but their 3G internet. Where's your location right now as from Digi 3G internet website, the 3G coverage only for Kota Kinabalu and Penang.

@sembilan,
You probably need to tweak some kinda settings in ur iPhone since DiGi is not the official carrier here in MY. Check out the pinned threads on how to do that:
