No no i mean you can resume back the network by removing your sim card.

I am actually restoring back my iphone and start from scratch to see how it goes. I believe it could be some issues as when i get my phone i restore it with my old Iphone 2g backup/settings which might cause some conflicts.

So far I've tested is running fine without jailbreak when switching on and off the 3G.

let say i wanna restore back.. but still my iTunes alr backup all my apps and setting everytime when i sync apps right?
so now i juz restore my phone, then jail break and click sync all the apps into my iphone again? correct?

when u click restore ITunes will prompt you for backup ... do a backup if you want but i recommend you to do so. I did a backup but i did not restore back the backup I choose to start as a new phone and install back everything from scratch. All the apps will still be there .. just sync it back dun worry

bro, ive tried to copy the aif file into iphone directory that u mention, it said to replace the existing file with the exact same name in it.

ive count the ringtones number in my phone for sms tone, all together is 6.

so i named it as 'sms-received7.caf,

after reboot it does not appear in my sms tone, why ya?

i have encountered 2 problems lately after updating my software to the latest one, think its 3.1 or something i forgot. the first problem is, i am unable to connect to certain wifi. the top of the screen does show the wifi sign but when i press on safari, this will show:



it will never load. and other application will not load either, any idea whats wrong?

and another problem is this "could not activate cellular data network" reminder keeps coming up every time i try to send a text msg. it does not effect my line signal or anything, no idea what is the reminder for. think it means that i dont have gprs/3g connection perhaps. this is the screen shot:

Your WiFi issue, try Reset Network Settings and see it resolves your problem or not.
As the "Could not activate cellular data network", it will pop up if you have no 3G/EDGE/GPRS data accessible.

My phone went into "No Service" again today once but this time I did not turn on/off the 3G.

Seriously, what's the problem that causing it? One of my friend told me that he also heard a complain from another friend which 3GS is not jailbreak also having this "No Service" issue.

It could be SIM Card problem, try insert other SIM Card to test it out.

yup. mine too. went no service . then after respring or restart the phone it went normal again.

this may due to my area signal poor. going to city where signal is strong did not encounter such problem

can we listen to music in the background in iphone 3gs? for instance , i wan to listen to music while i m surfing the internet??

The media contents (songs and video) aren't an issue.
I can always re-sync them as there are no saved data in them.
ALL songs, videos, photos could be transferred to my MBP to match my iPhone's contents.

But what about my saved data in my apps, as well as my settings?
If I transfer all of my apps that are on my PC to my MBP,
Would my iPhone recognize it and create a new backup, retaining all my saved data?

bro.. another question, wat bout those apps u had previous installed via cydia? u hv to re-install back all over again? another way to back up it?

For my case, I choose to start as a new phone I've to re-download again all the apps.

If you choose to restore from backup you can first download an app call aptbackup from cydia before you restore your phone. What you do is you run that app and backup your cydia apps. Restore your phone (remember to backup first). Jailbreak and download back aptbackup from cydia and click restore. It will automatically download back all your previous apps.

Added on November 4, 2009, 8:09 pm can try but a bit troublesome because I don't have another extra phone yet to insert my current sim card and also I don't know when the "No Service" problem will actually appear.

So far i can't resume back by respring only thru removing sim card and restarting the phone.
