Current Firmware : 3.1.2
Current network: Maxis
iTunes Version : 9
PC/MAC : PC
Jailbreaking software : Black Rain
Problem Encountered : showing 'No Service' quite frequently whenever i switch on or off  3G
Steps Taken So Far : Just reboot and it turns back normal

So guys wat do u think? Even it turn back to normal when i reboot it but it really annoy me. Sometimes my friends and parents couldn't reach me becos of this prob. Anyone faced this kind of problem?
*
I am facing this problem also ... and I've to agree is super annoying that you have to keep reboot your phone every time it happens. You can try removing and putting back the sim card again if you don't want to reboot

but taking out the sim card would be more difficult than reboot right? Or u mean the problem solved by using ur method?
*
No no i mean you can resume back the network by removing your sim card.

I am actually restoring back my iphone and start from scratch to see how it goes. I believe it could be some issues as when i get my phone i restore it with my old Iphone 2g backup/settings which might cause some conflicts.

So far I've tested is running fine without jailbreak when switching on and off the 3G.

when u click restore ITunes will prompt you for backup ... do a backup if you want but i recommend you to do so. I did a backup but i did not restore back the backup I choose to start as a new phone and install back everything from scratch. All the apps will still be there .. just sync it back dun worry

My phone went into "No Service" again today once but this time I did not turn on/off the 3G.

Seriously, what's the problem that causing it? One of my friend told me that he also heard a complain from another friend which 3GS is not jailbreak also having this "No Service" issue.

Anyone else experience this problem?

bro.. another question, wat bout those apps u had previous installed via cydia? u hv to re-install back all over again? another way to back up it?
*
For my case, I choose to start as a new phone I've to re-download again all the apps.

If you choose to restore from backup you can first download an app call aptbackup from cydia before you restore your phone. What you do is you run that app and backup your cydia apps. Restore your phone (remember to backup first). Jailbreak and download back aptbackup from cydia and click restore. It will automatically download back all your previous apps.

It could be SIM Card problem, try insert other SIM Card to test it out.
*
hmm.gif can try but a bit troublesome because I don't have another extra phone yet to insert my current sim card and also I don't know when the "No Service" problem will actually appear.

QUOTE(honkit @ Nov 4 2009, 06:29 PM)
yup. mine too. went no service . then after respring or restart the phone it went normal again.

this may due to my area signal poor. going to city where signal is strong did not encounter such problem
*
So far i can't resume back by respring only thru removing sim card and restarting the phone.

anybody ?

If you read back a few pages or posts back you will notice that are quite a few of us that experienced the same issue.

This happen when you are in an area where the signal is low and the signal will be dropped. The problem is that IPhone is unable to resume back the signal which requires us to either restart or reinsert the sim card which is troublesome. Quite annoying though for me... I wonder does this just happen in Iphone or what..

No solution for this problem yet.

@selinix,
I don't think it's possible but if you figure out how to do it, lemme know smile.gif

I found a way to off the accelerometer function. It only works for jailbroken IPhone though.

Go to Cydia and download SBSettings and Rotation Inhibitor (a toggle for SBSettings).

Open SBSettings and turn off the rotation.

smile.gif Hope it helps for those who find it annoying with those unnecessary rotation.

Correction:

It only target - JB user who install SSH but don't care less to change the root/mobile password when already warned and somehow very clever to not turn it off when not in use.

p/s - Leaving your SSH turn on all the time does not affect the battery level.  biggrin.gif

Would like to ask the SSH you were talking is it OpenSSH?

Is it safe if i do not install this.. because i turn on the SSH toggle in SBSettings more but i do not see the toggle appearing in my dock for turn on/off.. so i was wondering the SSH only appear if I install Open SSH ?

hi.. i want to ask.. i have an iphone jailbroken and is running on 3.0 firmware.. and i want to update the FW to 3.1.2... If i click update on itunes, will it lock my phone? or will it just update my iphone but it wont be jailbroken already?
*
It wont lock your phone... unless you are not using an official unlock set which you might have to unlock it again once it is being updated to 3.1.2.

Yes you have to re-jailbreak again once it is updated to 3.1.2
