Guys, wanna ask if someone use celcom on 3gs? currently i already jb my iphone which is on 3.0.1 firmware. one i got my iphone, straight i jailbreak and currently i have problem where sometimes the call will drop immediately right after 10-15secs call. 2nd call then ok already. is it jbreaking made my iphone crazy? i also install sbsetting where i disable edge and 3g there.

called celcom cs and they told me everything was back to normal. no network failure whatsoever. help! quite irritating also when the call dropped.

the connection drop whenever i call a person. if i had an incoming call, nothing happen.

Hi bro,

M also experiencing the same problem with you. I have tried to do everything as advised by other forumers. But to no avail. Last resort maybe i MNP from celcom to maxis. At first i thought it was my phone problem (3g 8gb), but after i swapped my fren sim card (maxis), the call drops doesnt happen. Also with my friend celcom line, working fine. Clearly the problem is with my celcom line. Change the simcard to new one yesterday at celcom centre but the problem still persist. I dont know what to do know. If someone ever faced this problem and happened to has the solution, kinldy let us know. It is very irritating!! Seriously!!

I don't really know if it was Celcom or iPhone. I receive my phone on 24th September, evening. By that time, Celcom network infrastructure having problem where you can't call in and out. After Celcom's network back to normal, then started having this kind of problem. The best part is, not all call having the dropped connection.

I remembered when I was using iPhone 2G where Celcom simcard does not support for it. So I opt to use Maxis instead. That time there was a problem with 128k Celcom simcard.

I will monitor this time to time. FYI, I already uninstall SBSetting but to no avail. Enable edge and 3G also useless, will drop sometimes.

@myhemay, did you try to swap the simcard with the old 64k? If I remember correctly when I'm using 2G, there is one forumer here told that if you want to use Celcom with 2G, have to swap to 64k simcard. Have you check whether your friend celcom simcard using the 64 or 128k?

* I'm not really sure whether it is 64k or 32k. hehe

Hi,

I dont know how it would be if uses the 64k simcard. But for sure, M tired with all the drop calls. Yeah its happen sometimes, but its happened though!! I just disable the voicemail from celcom but still no avail. M pening, MNP is the last resort.
*
I will stick with Celcom. I'm going to centre and ask if they have the 64k simcard.

@myhemay,
This problem of "call dropping" is something a friend complained.  The solution was to change his SIM card to a 64k card.  Apparently the other SIM cards are just not so compatible.  I haven't faced this issue before but can understand how irritating it can get tongue.gif
*
Meaning that if change to 64K simcard, cannot use 3G at all right?

@rip_code,
What'd U mean by cannot use 3G at all?  All I know is that my friend had problems with his line dropping all the time.  He went into Maxis and they gave him a new SIM card (64k).  Now he has stopped complaining of his line dropping.
*
AFAIK, 64k sim is using 2G technology whilst 128k is using USIM (3G) tech?

Have you try to open Safari as well? Might the wireless having it's own IP eg;169.x.x.x
I had that problem before, I just renew the dhcp and everything goes back to normal.

Erm. so i go to settings and renew the dhcp?
*
Try to check whether you can surf using Safari? If yes, meaning there is something problem with youtube app. If not, try to renew your IP Address and check what kind of IP you get. Usually for LAN IP will be 192.168.X.X or 10.0.X.X.

When a WiFi device couldn't get any DHCP from WiFi modem/router, the device itself will auto assign "self-ip" and usually the ip starts with 169.X.X.X.

Say I am using my iPhone and I have Linksys wifi router with DHCP enable at home. When I turn on iphone wifi and connect to linksys but linksys refuse to give ip. Usually when a wifi router failed to give ip because of "hang" etc.

So because of my iPhone waiting so long to get the IP, then my iPhone itself will assign its own ip and that is 169.X.X.X

Hi bro,

I think I found my own solution to my own problem. Previously I mention that I JB right I got my iPhone right.
Then I started to install SBSetting as well to disable EDGE/3G because I saw some of our forummer here got lotsa bill for data usage and I'm afraid I will be like that too.

Just now, I try to troubleshoot by enable both EDGE and 3G and surprisingly, no drop call. Disable 3G only also no drop call, but will drop if both disable.
You might wanna give a try. So the conclusion of this, maybe the voice layer needs either edge or 3g?

I think most areas are now EDGE at least. GPRS or 2G GSM are far and between. If you move into an area where the base towers are at least EDGE or 3G, you will get disconnected if you disable both. Maybe this is the case?
*
I think so. Because everywhere I tried, will get disconnected if I disable both EDGE and 3G.
So as for now, the connection is superb, either both on or just EDGE on.

I'm talking this if you're using Celcom by the way. Other forumer using Maxis while both settings off, seems OK.

Erm guys. I just found out that I can't use the YouTube icon the application store and iTunes icon either. I am using official unlocked singtel iPhone 3gs 32gb. With apples 3.01 firmware. I Use my college's wifi. What's wrong? What do I need to do? And recently, my prepaids credit really menjunam from the sky to the floor... Any suggestions how to stop it from menjunam?
*
Must be your YouTube app problem? As for iTunes, I can't use it either cause it is not support in Malaysia, some sort of that.
On prepaid, I think you have to disable EDGE/3G. Got thread about this.

Hi guys,

Been searching in the forum but can't get accurate answer. By the way, as you all know in certain thread here, got some of us had a problem with iPhone 3.0/3.01 with Celcom 3G with call dropped and call failed. Anyone that encounter this problem have the solution?

iPhone 3GS 3.0.1
Jailbreak with redsn0w 0.8
Tried to enable/disable 3G, EDGE, Caller ID so on and so forth using SBSetting.

It is quite annoying when you called someone then the calls drop within 10secs. But I had no problem with incoming call. Thanks in advance. icon_question.gif

And you're using Celcom? I don't think it is faulty iPhone because I had no problem whenever using Maxis. Haven't try DiGi though.

Anyway, I got a friend with the same problem as me, and I am using 128K 3G sim card.

@rip_code,
There's been a couple of forummers who's reported Maxis changed their SIM cars to 64k cards.  Perhaps your 128kb SIM doesn't work too well with the iPhone? *shrugs*
*
I'm not really sure about this. Apparently, my Maxis Postpaid is using 128K. Suppose shouldn't be any problem or perhaps, Celcom using different way to broadcast? Will ask Celcom whether they still producing 64K sim card. *sigh*

Did you Jailbreak to get this feature or its a standard feature already available for Celcom?
*
I bought from Maxis. OTB firmware was 3.0.1. Straight JB without doing anything eg; those ipcc files.
I just don't know how this feature is available for Celcom tongue.gif

By the way, regarding my reception call drop, can I just update my FW to 3.1 from iTunes and upgrade the baseband as well? Might think that the new baseband can handle Celcom broadcast? Thanks. I don't need the tethering at the moment.

hey guys,
i'm using digi prepaid on my i3GS now,

i heard many LYN menbers said that they cant send out mms icon_question.gif
i'm wondering whether need to update or not,
please help me icon_question.gif
*
Suppose there will be no problem at all.
I'm using Celcom with 3.0.1 and I can send mms without any problem.
Now I am using 3.1 and still can send mms. The only problem is just for AT&T Carrier where they are still waiting AT&T to enable mms for 3.1 and 3.1.2 I suppose hmm.gif

I am using OS 3.1.2 Maxis set. Using Celcom sim card and I can send mms flawlessly. Have you set your MMS setting and restart your iphone?
By the way, may I ask whether you are using postpaid 3G sim card? I got problem with 10secs call drop sad.gif

@tinkerbel
not really have to set 10secs. Whenever I call someone, right after 10secs of conversation, the line will drop. So I have to call again. Second time call no drop after that. I dunno why. Pop-in my simcard to other phone and it seems the problem doesn't happen. Might thinking that my Celcom simcard is faulty to use with iPhone.
Apparently, if I insert Maxis simcard into the iPhone, there is no problem at all.

Just now that I realize that whenever I'm at EDGE area, the call will drop. Still troubleshooting though thumbup.gif

@NV20
You can capture the screen by pressing power button and home button at the same time. It will then stored into you DCIM folder.
Then use utility like DiskAid (Mac) to transfer to MacOsX. As for Windows utility, you can check at pinned thread there. I'm using MBP though brows.gif
