And I only see people posting pics. Very rarely see any other things posted to share. Almost nothing to learn. And the abbreviations. Oh the darned abbreviations. You can only find people abbreviating scorpion names in here. No where else. Put yourselves in the shoes of a newcomer. And learn what HH, LM, IM, PB, PT, HS, HL, PI and whatever the ficken else you shorten at wihs. Even if you google you will only be spooned from behind.

that is not true !!!!!...i also posted in almost every other forum too ...... i use my short form not only in this forum !!! try surfing venomlist and the others.. and you will be able to notice my darned abbreviations in it too ....

i uses those darned abbreviations too and have to admit my bad fault too. , i play a bad role for newcomers but i am too lazy to type out the whole thing. to be frank and smiple .. I AM JUST PLAIN LAZY ... to type out the whole thing ........ but from today onwards .. i will change my lazyness ........ will type the full name of the scorpions ... cross my heart ... swear .......

I'm not unhappy with only you. The problem with abbreviations is the only people who comprehend them belong to a small group of 'enthusiasts' who chat online. Most commoners just can't relate. The only people whom use abbreviations on VL ar those who post here? Or maybe one or two extra jigheads.

Pictures are cool. But that's as far as it takes the hobby, the drool factor. Page one is cool, general as it may be. But thats give you no knowhow or benefits of learning anything 'new everyday'. That'd be the reason why people don't reply such threads much, except for the 'owh!', 'cool scorpion', 'i envy you', schmuck me up posts. As I recall, someone mentioned that it's good that potent bugs are available for hobbyists to study them. However, nothing of supportive advocacy is displayed.

It will be really good that you take it up personally to put up the correct names S1234. Because they are there for a reason that needs no elaborate explanation.

You won't believe the number of people who sms me asking the full names for your nitwit nicknames of scorpions. They are interested, but they have no reasonable source for answers. I can personally attest to spending(or wasting rather) at least RM15.00 every month answering to questions pertaining to the above matters set into spiral from this particular thread. I am not a self appointed bench expert in scorpiology but certain things are best adhered to.

I am simply exerting this because it will steer things in a more positive light. You can take it anyway you want. My shoes are size 6. Way smaller than your's - this I promise you.

For your kind info, a few with these " potent bugs " have been "happy" and studying them . research materials and pointers have been shared among but it just not posted.
people have their freedom to post whatever they want with regards to their research materials which i have no control over that . Same goes to sharing of it . What can i do if they decided not to post? As for me .. posting pictures are my way of sharing my experience , a picture means a thousands words .. i don't spoon feed , lots of details and information can be arrived from the pictures alone, it just that if the "interested" persons is "ready" interested in it and look into details.and beyond... i am not a DOGMATIC person that goes round telling people how to do things or how things have to be done. people who know me - know me for that ...

do look at things beyond the line sometime..... out of the well ......

and lastly about the "not unhappy with only you". well ... i don't know who are the others u are not happy with too .. but as for me .. bill cosby once said " i dont know the secret of happiness, but i know that i can't please everyone" ..

Got my own band of asian forest scorpions (Heterometrus spinifer) from Ryo and from Hyorin.
My house has slowly turned into an adoption centre for these fine Malaysian Scorpions, not that I am complaining. Don't worry guys. I will take good care of them.






Regarding about the productivity and credibility of this trend. May I suggest we list down at least 3 opinion on care/behavior/looks/food of each species and post it on the 1st page. PROVIDED that the opinions come from our own experience, unique and not from Google.

Ryo. Don't trouble yourself with listing out the abbreviations. Lebih senang kalau postings are listed out in the manner they are done everywhere else. These names can be confusing because of the fact that multiple species having the same initials. I.e. - PV can mean Parabuthus villosus/ Pandinus viatoris etc. It may be a trivial thing touch on, but it is important. A change is necessary. And Lester agrees to it. I just hope that this is not a losing battle I'm fighting.

Destruction leads to a very rough road, but it also breeds creation - RHCP.

I'm looking forward to reading your posts Akagidemon. I may not actively keep scorpions anymore. But reading will always be top priority.

dizzychef, regarding ur question of u getting tag by a Buthid family scorpion, u still have a chance of survival but it depends on the swiftness of the getting u medical help.

there is only about 22 antivenin available for scorpions in the world. FYI there are more then 50 species that are considered medically important. see the ratio.

the best thing for you is to get medical help a.s.a.p. since the venom will take time to travel and starts disrupting your nervous system.

the normal procedure of treating a Buthid family scorpions are more on treating the symptoms. some of the medication they use is Atropine and a few other drugs that are commonly available over the counter.

u also have to consider the LD50 factor of the scorpion venom.

larger more bulkier person may not have a higher risk of death when compared to a smaller built person.

i will write about LD50 and how it works as a gauge for toxicity of a venom and poison compound. wait for it.
