At least they've added option for bluetooth.
Too bad still not build in.

Actually in real life using, most of this network/wifi thinky is rarely using. I try like airplay and network play on the 673. The music quality is bad. Till I don't bother to use it.

It depend the source of the music, if the encoding is only 128bits the quality is so so, but if is 196, 256, and higher the quality also improve.

I network all my devices (that are networkable) I use Yamaha apps to control my AVR, I use Dune Apps to control the Dune player all from my android phone.

Not much improve. MP3 already worst. Go through airplay even worst. Even same file type and bits, going in different input give different quality sound. The airplay sound is the worst. Compare network play from NAS.

Even I play the FLAC lossless file and compare to the CD, the CD is sound much more better and live.

I use ipad to control the AVR. TV or mede8er remote to ON/OFF the whole system. TV and BD player is wifi. While AVR and Med8er is wired to network.

My RX-V2067 does a good job playing flac lossless file from my NAS server. I think higher end model probably will yield a better result because of the better DAC and analog circuit board.

I guess so. I cannot do anything with the AVR. There is nothing to set to improve the sound.

I rip the CD into MY NAS with flac format. Compare both sound. The CD give better sound quality.

u're welcome. just remember this point:
screw terminal & spring clip = usually high level to passive speaker
RCA = usually low level to external amp / active speaker

start from very low volume to prevent heart attack

Then should i go for high end blu ray player or normal player is sufficient for data pass thru to the avr?

Yeah, will probably wait with buying the bluetooth accessory, try first using some long cable.

Anybody remember how much 673 was selling when it first came out?

Airplay doesn't degrade the audio quality of the audio files. Bluetooth however does.
I don't have a Yamaha AV receiver anymore (used to have a RX-V 3067) but when I airplay my mp3s to Marantz NA7004 or Pioneer LX-86, they both sound fantastic.. just saying.

I compare the same file. Play it from ipad thru airplay and play thru NAS. Playing from NAS sound better than ipad. Maybe ipad sound quality sucks?

audio processing is true.

I am looking for RX-V673 AV + speaker set (N555, N444, N333). Do you know what is the best deal at the moment?
