I heard some of you guys suggested to change Spark Plugs. Is it something like NSR selling in automotive garage called HPPC at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/317872

Some even suggested to tune EFI? This need to be done at Proton Service Center? Why I heard someone said Proton SC only able to check the EFI for you, but not able to tune?
*
Yes , we do suggested changing the Spark Plugs , Spark Plug Cables and Air Filter.

If you're looking for Quad-core High Performance Plug Cable , I would definitely suggest you getting from another forumer called " airline " instead of NSR. If I remember correctly , NSR doesn't provide any warranty nowdays and during the old days which he's still providing warranty , the after sales service is just totally different.

I think a normal Borsh Sport Plug Cable will just do fine , go ahead and PM "airline" aswell , he's carrying all borsh products. smile.gif

For spark plug , I think most of them would suggest going for NGK and Denso Iridium which last longer and give better sparks. But I heard numerous time that unless you're changing your foul spark to Iridium , the amount you pay for is not worth the little performance gain.

My Digital clock just died off this afternoon, no display at all at the clock column..
If need to repair need remove the whole dashboard?
*
Double confirm if there's any word displaying in the LCD. If there is , just replace the LED will cost you around 10 bucks in SC. As I ask in SC before , If there's nothing showing up , they said that you eventually need to change the whole meter instead of repairing the LCD. smile.gif

Hope it helps.

is it true that waja 4g18 must use 20w-50 and above?? hmmm next week im going to service my car... anyone can reccomend me a good oil?
*
It is just a factory recommendation thus not a must to use 20w-50 and above.

I have heard/read numerous time that Fully Synthetic engine oil aint really going well with cars more than a few years old or have been using 20w-50 all this while. I would recommend you to choose 10w-40 Semi-Synthetic engine oil as it's not too thin or not too thick like 20w-50.

Brand wise , I'm using Castrol Magnatec + Tufoil treatement maybe you could try out yourself though. Brand like Q8 10w-40 and Eneos is well known for its performance aswell.

since it just defers a few bucks , it wont really make a huge different right ?

Anyone interested with carfit custom made sound insulator for the hood instead ? Normal price should be around 48 until 55+ while now I saw that one seller selling @ 38 per unit with minimum 10 set per order.

I have pm Kent Goh for the Monochrome logo , he's selling Rm65 for each side(front and rear) which equals to Rm130 for one set of two.

It's pretty sad to hear that it's quite expensive though. sad.gif

QUOTE(alworks @ Nov 28 2009, 11:43 PM)
guys, my car is 2001 4G18P waja, lately, my ride had one big problem, when the car start in the morning, i will let it warm up for about  near 1 minute, then shift my auto gear into R to reverse n go out, but, the horrible thing is, just right after i shifted the gear in, the engine died on the spot. So, i need to restart it again n sometimes i nid to repeat it twice in order to let the car run. At first, i thought this will happen early in the morning, but, same thing happened in the afternoon when i wan to start the car during my lunch break. Any one hav any idea what happen to my car? i've jes changed my plugs not more than a year n i dun think its spark plugs problem. does anyone here facing the same problem too? any solution? pls help sad.gif
*
Most probably due to dirty Fuel Injectors. I faced it before as mine was hitting more than 130k++ mileage and after trying some fuel injector cleaner which just pour into your fuel system , it seems to back to normal. Maybe you can try out. There's few brand at around Eleven bucks , STP at twenty to thirty plus and red line at fourty plus. It's your choice after all.

I'm not sure if it's something to do with the Fuel pump though as I haven't change mine before. flex.gif

swk_sam : Is those original Emblem your friend selling ? If it's replica goods , some of them even mention they bought it from brothers for below twenty bucks a set.

you promoting for the seller, or you selling?
sorry to ask this, but what does this pivot really improve on a car?
*
I wonder what's the fuss over here.

swk_sam , himself is a waja owner and he just trying to find the cheapest price for all of us. is there anything wrong about it ?
for the pivot wise , it's just a voltage stabilizer which stabilize the voltage around your car.

from what i read , voltage stabilizer has minimum or no effect at all. if you think you got extra moolah to spend , by all means , go ahead. smile.gif
but on the other hand , heard that the original grounding for waja is pretty bad and by installing extra grounding cable , the effect is pretty impressive. smile.gif

Yea Andy, extra or replace the current ground is sufficient. If someone plan to go huge investment on ICE then get a VS.

It has been awhile ever saw you posting here. smile.gif Doing great ?

QUOTE(yngwie @ Dec 4 2009, 03:05 PM)
actually,  it had been idle for a few weeks; am currently driving a 2.0 Altezza.
so, only start my waja at the morning till the engine heat up to optimum degree about twice a week.
suddenly it just refuse to start this morning. the clock was auto reset itself to 00:00.
was a maintenance free battery but it's quite old. over 2 years. there is a white thingy develop at the + connector.
hopefully it was only the battery problem  sweat.gif

any other opinion, guys?  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Try apply WD40 on both of the terminal and use a hard brush to scrub off those corrosion on it.

Maybe you should consider bring your battery to your nearby workshop to get it charged before changing it. ( if maintanance free able to recharge ) smile.gif

QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Dec 5 2009, 02:17 PM)
change to HID, pure satisfaction, nothing more than 4300k aite? as its illegal beyond that.
*
As long as you retrofit hid into your headlamp , it's illegal.

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Dec 5 2009, 06:13 PM)
HID is not very efficient as a fog lamp as the position is low thus, cannot project the light very far without blinding other driver. For 'cool' factor, yes.
*
That's the reason why I installed mine into the headlamp instead. But ever since I installed the hid , it just makes me worry everytime I drive at night.

QUOTE(nayte @ Dec 5 2009, 06:34 PM)
haha how do you suggest to tweak the 4g18 engine?
*
As usual ; air filter , exhaust system , brake system(more important) , lighten crank pulley & cam pulley , cam shaft , pnp , forged piston , turbo. laugh.gif

QUOTE(nayte @ Dec 5 2009, 06:38 PM)
i've got a friend who has SUPER blinding lights installed on his jazz. its blue-ish in colour and it looks pretty cool.
whats even cooler is that he can change his lights all to the standard yellowish lights by putting on his high beam to prevent jpj from stopping him. lol.
never knew that could be done.
*
That's usually what we called as Hi-Lo HID set. Too bad there's none for H1 and H3 socket though.

How it works ?
When you switch on your small lamp , it'll be hid and when you switch to long beam(not high beam) , it'll be halogen instead.

Yup, it's not bright enough, but from far our car can be mistakenly identified as a 5-series tongue.gif

guys, hid can be fitted only if the car headlamp is using projector type? what about halogen type? crystal?
*
As long as they produce the socket for that headlamp.

But please be considerate to install Glare shield as Crystal/reflector type is very glaring and might caused temporary blindness to the oncoming vehicles.

BTW, for car that is using crystal type headlamp, what can I do to increase its brightness? for cases where the light is like "pelita ayam"  sweat.gif i'm not talking about installing hid, just normal halogen light.

Check out those third party bulb from Osram or Philips. Osram well known for Night Breaker while Philips well known for their Xtreme Power. Without any further introduction , you definitely know which one is more expensive and better right ?
