The Latest Waja, The Waja CPS
user posted image

The long-awaited Proton Campro CPS engine is now available in Malaysia (it was first introduced in Bangkok last year) with the Waja 1.6 Premium being the first model to have it. For those who are not familiar with this engine, it incorporates Cam Profile Switching (which is where the ‘CPS’ comes from), a mechanism which varies intake valve timing to enhance performance throughout the rpm range. The mechanism was developed by Lotus Engineering, a subsidiary of Proton.

Additionally, the Campro CPS engine also has a Variable Intake Manifold (VIM) which optimises the intake airflow volume according to driving conditions and is especially helpful in boosting torque at the low end. The VIM is a more sophisticated version of the Intake Air-fuel Module (IAFM) used in the Campro 1.3-litre engine of the new Saga.

user posted image
The maximum power output of the new Campro 1.6 CPS engine is 125 bhp (about 92 kW), 13% more than the 110 bhp on the non-CPS/VIM Campro engine. The new engine, in addition to providing smooth and responsive drivability, is said to be environment-friendly and complies with the latest European emission regulations.

With the CPS mechanism, Proton claims that the new Waja offers significant improvement in terms of drivability with maximum torque now increased to 150Nm. More importantly, the criticism of non-CPS engine that was first launched with the Gen2 – poor low-end torque – is now claimed to be addressed and Proton states that there is ‘better response and torque launch at low engine speeds of between 2000 - 2500 rpm when driving in the city’. During highway driving, it is also claimed that there will be better overtaking performance in the third, fourth and fifth gears within the 2,500 - 4,500 rpm engine speed range. The new Waja is available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

There are also changes to the interior design of the model to add further value to customers. The model now comes with electric remote door mirror with electric folding housing, front seat with 3-way adjustable head rest (up, down and tilt), gated auto gear shifter (for automatic transmission), new centre panel switches and finishing, as well as a keyless trunk remote system, ABS, fog lamps, alloy rims and leather upholstery as standard.

Other additional features include xenon headlamps auto-levelling (so that other motorists are not dazzled), dual tailpipes, UV-cut windscreen glass and a ‘Euro-compliant body structure’.

"Proton is striving to improve ourselves in every aspect, particularly in terms of product offerings. With that in mind, we felt it was time the Waja evolved as well. The time is right for this change and I'm optimistic the market will receive this new model in a positive manner," said Proton MD, Dato' Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.

me using Castrol 10W-40 Full Syn for 4G18.

I desperately need a car wash and seat cleaning. My car cabin stinks due to my rain soaked seat.

Got any good place to recommend that is cheap to clean my car?You are from Ipoh right
*
I bet the 10w-40 you're mentioning were Semi-Synthetic instead. nod.gif
Initially I thought of changing to Q8 Advance 10-40 Semi Synthethic but due to most of the dealers unable to cod with me on that day , I changed mine to Castrol Magnatec 10-40 Semi-Synthectic and it's running great.
Yeps , my hometown in Ipoh. smile.gif Maybe we can have teh-tarik session.

Does the car wash have any name on it.I am not familliar with Jalan Kampar as I rarely go there.I know there are alot of 2nd hand car dealers there and The Store
*
What's the price you paid for ?

By the direction he's mentioning , it should be the car wash that's before The Store from Medan Gopeng / Perak Girl School. ( It's larger compare to the one near the Roundabout. )

Live Update : I'm there right now waiting for my polishing done. The price for the 2 layer is actually Wax instead of polish and at the price of Rm40. It'll be Rm47 if together with wash and vacuum. Since I'm still a student and after some negotiation with the guy over there , He decided to charge me Rm80 that includes polish , wax , wash , vacuum and I think it's still pretty normal rate though. blush.gif

Update 2 : Everything's done and it looks great. smile.gif

Try to apply pressure to each of the spot of the absorber and see if it rebounds fast enough.

Anyway , my signal lamp which beside the fog lamp burned out , anyone know what socket it used ? Thinking to get those Polarg white type. blush.gif

bro, you definitely need to change the rims  tongue.gif
changing to sports suspension setup should be ok. but the ride will be very bumpy with stiffer suspension + low profile tyres.  imo, 16" with profile 50 is fine. i am using the stock 15" rims with 205/55/r15 at the rear and the cornering is great!!
by going for open pod, you may need to install a CAI with good filtering that channel the cold air direct to
to air filter. else, may end up sucking those hot air generated by the running engine instead  doh.gif
either k&n or hks will be fine.
*
From what I know , HKS have good air flow but extremly bad filtration so please think twice before buying it.
Your choice will narrow down to Apexi or K&N , it's your choice. smile.gif

Anyone smoked their headlamp ? Planning to do it after raya by EA Autoworks , want to join ? biggrin.gif

For full flush for AT, we will need 7 liters of ATF?
What ATF is recommended?

If brakes need to be depressed really deep to stop is it just the brakepads or can it be something else?
*
If I'm not mistaken , it only takes 5 liters of ATF. ( Even full flush , not all ATF fluid will be flush out )
Recommended ? I would use back Proton ATF. smile.gif

Changing the whole set might cost around 400+ and additional 300+ can get Mines adjustable. Which one usually prefered ?

Remove cat con and replace with mid box cost how much? It can improve performance? Any exhaust shop got do it? I am near with putrajaya/cyberjaya area. Any recommendation?

Added on September 29, 2009, 11:30 pmMy car giving me sounds also... When turning steering to left, it will make some noise like "glek glek" ... What sound is that?
*
I'm not quite sure about the percentage of performance gain but at least it gives better air flow without much restriction. If you're seriously interested , maybe we can go to Everco Sunway on coming thursday as I might removing it and replace with a midbox.

Price is around Rm250 with installation. smile.gif

agree with you. the other day, i fill up 60 bucks of ron97 at tapah. constant night driving at average of 165km/h.  as soon as i reach maluri, the fuel gauge warning  light turn on  sweat.gif  so far, no 'love letter' from traffic police yet...paiseh.
@gabenor@
rm746 can buy 2 taiwan made fuel pump already. pesc pricing is quite high. since my waja is already out of warranty, i only go to pesc for diagnostic.

@Andy0625@
mines adjustable is tailored for better handling. thus sacrifice certain level of comfort. albeit, not as hard as tein.
comfort wise, stock suspension setup still better. please update us on your exhaust project  icon_rolleyes.gif

btw, i recommend a friend to buy stock a-fuji shock absorber from imperialreacs@alan and the comfort level is better than the standard apm.
*
That's means Mines adjustable is not bad at all right ? About hard , will it as hard as my spoilt abs ? My current abs definitely a must to slow down to around 20km/h and below to pass a bump , else will be very bumpy.

Anyway , I have around some spare cash to spare and I'm not sure which part to go first. Does Sunway Pyramid or Seri Petaling nearby/direction is correct to Pavillion from Cyberjaya ?

for campro waja owners, i wanna ask what exhaust set up you've done for header? i am considering to change it, but still dunno should go for 4-2-1 or 4-1 set up, mine is auto.

went to exhaust shop, few shops d, bos all say auto use 4-1, but read around forums, all say campro auto should use 4-2-1, so which is which?
*
4-2-1 extractor have power all around the range from low end to high end while 4-1 extractor gives better torque but less low end power.

Conclusion : How often do you rev your engine up to 3k rpm ? If you hardly rev up and prefer more power on low end in city drive , go for 4-2-1. ( Vice versa for 4-1 ) smile.gif

What do you think about the star symbol then ?
The catchy symbol is for owners that lazy to read through ever single title so that they can just go through and search for the symbol and there you go.. smile.gif

Anyway , I still haven't replace the cat-con , but I bought tuf-oil engine treatment and it's working like a charm.
