im not a fan of a grip *yet*..but take note that i also said im not a fan of a flash(and i bought F58)...not a fan of long range tele(and im drooling for 70200G)..not a fan of macro(and i got myself sp90)....LOL...

i think depend on ur need...for me..right now i rarely shoot in portrait..and i already find my 850+2470+F58 kinda heavy..don wanna add any additional weight*yet*...lol

neo_lam: I heard that the WX1 performs better. However, the TX1 already does fantastically!

achew: Great shot! I am loving the fact that you have new props now!

luminarist: Do you want the features in the A550, or do you want to have a camera that is popular, but does not have the features you want? Wait a bit, it will be out in October.

Random shot!

albnok: Is that really all the difference between them? The HDR function kinda gives promising shots but the canon one on the other hand has Full HD video capture mode.. Then again, i'm buying a camera thats mainly for photos tho.. I could jz buy a camcorder if i wana record videos.

The autofocus in Live View is so much faster on the A550 than on the 500D. In fact that is true of the A550, versus any other dSLR with Live View from any other brand.

This is because the A550, like the A300/A330/A350/A380, use the same AF sensors in Live View mode or Optical Viewfinder mode.

Other brands either use the image captured from the main sensor to focus (but it is slow, weaker than an average point-and-shoot) or they flip the mirror down to allow the AF sensors to be used, before the mirror goes up again (this process also gives a noticeable delay.)

Ya, that's another thing.. I've tried other models and i can feel some delay or should i say laggish visual... In that case i'll stick with the 550 for now then.. unless other models can convince me with better features or perhaps quality wise..

For the 550 side, i'm pretty sure with its features and capabilities.. just that i'm a lil blur bout the canon eos 500D.. Gona view more reviews on it tmr

FOTOKEM stock was shared among all the branches in Malaysia. These 3 unit 1 sapu by me, 1 sapu by Cliv, another unit.. MAYBE don't hv strap. Dono who got it.. haha
That's much cheaper in KL area.. I was quoted at 3288 with at JB. After dumping all the freebies. Close the deal at RM3100.

HAhaha.. High Demand A700.. luckily i was one step faster.. Once i checked the A550 doesnt fit my expectation, immediately hunt for A700...& lucky enough. My unit is from Fotokem Malacca.. d price good too.. Rm 2880 Worth every cents icon_rolleyes.gif

Dont forget testing lens inside shops can give u weird results coz of the fluorescent lighting. The flicker can frighten u when u see a rm8000 lens showing a screwed up exposure. laugh.gif

I guess thats why im not convinced with the SAL16105 when i tested it in Sony KlCC..

Read back somewhere in this thread, Kingston Elite Pro 8GB does seem to have sloooow response time with Alphas.... but anyone has comments on the 4GB version??

Am using the Sony 4GB 133x, plan to get another one from SG. There only SGD69 compared to RM299 locally....
*
im using the kingstone Elite 8gb 133x.. At first i find it okey... but after heavy shooting a little while, i start to FEEL d lag.. especially if im using Flash (more information recorded perhaps?) I find myself staring n waiting for the black lcd longer than when im using my A100 + Sony memory stick 4gb (i dont remembering of any waiting at all). D lag seems to differ on different setting like shutter speed n ISO.

all the creative settings wont have any effect on raw if im not mistaken...only JPEGs will have effect if u use BnW.... smile.gif

Im shooting in Raw... thats why i nvr use the creative setting... but does the DR function works for Raw? (convert in Adobe Raw)... though i can easily adjust the dark area in Adobe Raw but it seems like is a bit wasted i din fully utilised wat comes with the A700 tongue.gif

I bring my A700 + Tamron 1750 for a serious shooting of my friend's Wedding last sunday. Have to say, luckily im not hired/ invited to shoot... cause i have done quite badly... due to lack of preparation, not used to the new camera+lens, and unexpected environment...superhigh ceiling + very low lights...

Try to use Bouncecard but dont like d result of hving just light coming from d front. In d end i shoot using max power 1/1 on my F42 n let it bounce down from the super tall ceiling (It was a restaurant converted from old Theater!!!) But this require time for my F42 to recharge after everyshot!... so most of d continuous shot start with one good lighting n second pic without any flash shakehead.gif n is Slow...

I wonder will F58 make any benefit under this kind of situation?? what will u guys do best? Share share some exprience pls notworthy.gif

But im glad im bringing my A700 because this is d first time im using ISO 1600/800 all d way n i still find d quality acceptable thumbup.gif ... If im using my A100.. im pretty sure i wont even go for Iso 800.

Ahahahaha... now you know how difficult it is being a wedding photographer eh?

Here's some tips that I use myself:

1. High ceiling and no diffuser? Search for a blank A4 or any white paper, fold it in half and strap it to your flash head. Makes for a bigger area to bounce light off from. Trying to bounce from a high ceiling is pointless and battery sucking. Don't try to be machine gunner to get your shots. Try to be more like sniper with one shot, one kill. Anticipate the events and be prepared. You can more or less know what's gonna happen next if you stay on your toes and keep your eyes on the couple and not on your cam. Try not to chimp too much.

2. ISO 800 on the A100 can still be used. Just try overexposing your shots a little. There's some noise but viewed full screen on PC is still ok. Noise will be even less noticeable on prints.

3. Even if you have a F2.8 constant aperture lens, you will find that you cannot use F2.8 all the time no? Group shots will need you to stop down a little or the narrow DOF will find some faces OOF.

good info... Thanks... Btw, can show sample of how you fold and use the A4 paper on the flash?

Braynumb : Just fold the A4 paper in half along the longer side and you have a rectangular shaped paper that wraps itself quite nicely to the back of your flash head.

Secure the paper to the flash head with rubber band and you have a bounce card that's bigger than most that you can buy and cost next to nothing and simple to get in a hurry.

Point your flash upwards and the paper will bounce the light forward. Goto my flickr and the pics of the Malay wedding is taken using this method.
