Ahahahaha... now you know how difficult it is being a wedding photographer eh?

Here's some tips that I use myself:

1. High ceiling and no diffuser? Search for a blank A4 or any white paper, fold it in half and strap it to your flash head. Makes for a bigger area to bounce light off from.  Trying to bounce from a high ceiling is pointless and battery sucking. Don't try to be machine gunner to get your shots. Try to be more like sniper with one shot, one kill. Anticipate the events and be prepared. You can more or less know what's gonna happen next if you stay on your toes and keep your eyes on the couple and not on your cam. Try not to chimp too much.

2. ISO 800 on the A100 can still be used. Just try overexposing your shots a little. There's some noise but viewed full screen on PC is still ok. Noise will be even less noticeable on prints.

3. Even if you have a F2.8 constant aperture lens, you will find that you cannot use F2.8 all the time no? Group shots will need you to stop down a little or the narrow DOF will find some faces OOF.
*
a) For lighting, you may want to try the Toilet Bowl Diffuser.. but not so good for distance more than 3m... usually at 5 meters.. i tend to hit direct flash...
b) F2.8... mostly used for creative shots... most of the time F4 to F5.6, to get good DOF...
c) ISO400 used as standard and up to ISO1600 when situation needs, like low light shooting...
d) ISO100-200 & F4-F8 for portraits.. some say can use F11 also, if you have good lighting support, like multiple flash setups..

if you have problem of underexposure due to many white subjects, try Exp +0.3 to +0.7.. (tips from Albnok)

of course, most important of all, refer to Number 1 from shootkk... anticipation and focused, dont wast too much time checking the pics already taken, moment is already lost, just be ready for next one... smile.gif

What if its a display unit. Should i check for the shutter count (is it necessary in the first place? ) what about dust in the sensor .

There's really no way to check the shutter count. If you are willing to buy a display unit, I would suggest that you buy a second hand unit from a good user. At least you know that the previous user had cared for the unit. Unlike a display unit where any Tom, d*** and Harry also can try out. God knows what these 'potential customers' has done or tried to do to the display unit. You can't even be sure that some smart aleck had not detached the lens and try to touch the sensor inside! shakehead.gif

Walaueh. So my decision not to buy the display unit at JJ was a good one. Went to OU 's Sony outlet and they say theres a unit left at subang parade. Pay for deposit but then it hit me if its also a display unit. But the salesperson at sony style says they wont sell their display unit but i take it with a pinch of salt. Hence the reason to check it.

use mode "A" then use the roller to adjust the F value to biggest number

note that by increasing the F number .. your shutter speed might become slower, thus not good for lowlight condition.

seems like u stil don really understand the exposure triangle..n the major mode on ur camera..perhaps u wanna do some reading first...shoot few photos..n ask again? In that case u understand better/faster..rather than follow what we told u blindly..
