I personally know less than 5. This is excluding seniors not in my batch, whom are most probably JPA scholars (July 2010 intake, mine was Jan/March 2011 intake). All the MUFY students I know are self-sponsored.
Limeuu was right on the 'bottom of the barrel' statement. Met someone with borderline MUFY score, borderline IELTS, borderline interview and less than 20% ISAT

Last year's intake has about 30 to 40 students from MUFY and quite a number are JPA sponsored.
Where does the majority come from? STPM should be just a handful; A levels, SAM, Ausmat etc? I know a few who are from A levels and did not manage to secure places in UK.

Let's hope said student realize a chance has been given, and get act together.
As far as Monash Sunway is concerned though, should scraping of barrel continue, th school may eventually be renamed Sunway University's Jeffery Cheah School of Medicine. The disparity of standards between the Sunway and Clayton campus, must be within acceptable limits. This would be the reasonable expectation.
It is not so much of a drop in standards, the syallbus is the same and they sit for the same exams and markings are moderated. (Its the same for law and accountancy exams; for those Malaysian students who sit for the same exams as their UK counterparts, there should not be much difference and you would actually see Malaysian students among the price winners on a regular basis! We treat exams more seriously than most others.) Its the unfortunate thing for these borderline cases who will have problems even getting past Year 1!
