Apparently, no conditional offers are given until the actual results are given to them where a final selection is made.

Those who did not make it at the interview would be notified accordingly.

I wish they do that for MBBS in Clayton. Allows for better planning.

For those who are taking A Levels, having the finals in May would be a better option than sitting in November.

You have your first bite at the UK universities and IMU August intake followed by Monash next February intake.

Those sitting at the end of year may have to make do with paying a lump sum as "insurance" as other offers may come in later

Eh.. you can place an application, settle interview, ISAT and IELTS before sitting for your final exams.

In my case, exam was in Nov but my interview was last July and ISAT last October.
*
Does this apply to all the MUFY students as well?

If the students are from other streams, the students counter just refused to accept the application and said ISAT and IELTS results has to be submitted before an interview could be arranged.

But they still wont give any offers until all the requirement documents are in order, rite?

I'm not so sure about other streams but I'm from MUFY.

No offer until my final results are out. I applied only using my first semester score.
*
What about the other interested MUFY students? Were they also in the same situation like yours?

Last year abt 30+ students from MUFY got into Monash Sunway medic, if I am not wrong.

Yeap. Same, regardless of Sunway/Clayton campus.

Msian students interested to be in Sunway campus can apply even in mid January (according to last year's deadline).

But the biggest issue I think is ISAT since there are no sessions for it already. Next session opens in April 2012.

A certain number of seats are "reserved" for "star" students and this is also what IMU is doing.

A Prof from IMU said, " Who doesnt want "star" students who can bring recognition and status to your university?"

No, academic excellence.

Those with deep pockets are "See Stars" students! Plenty in Sunway.

Check out JPA Special Ivy League scholarship. You land a place in Oxford or Cambridge, you apply for it. I know of someone who did A levels in the UK, got offered to read Chemistry in Oxford. Applied for JPA Ivy League Scholarship, and got it.

Conditions for next year Jpa scholarships not out yet. Talent corp may have a role to play.

How do you tackle a given medical scenario at an interview when your interviewer just sit and listen and you are totally blank on the given topic? At best, a wry smile and talk out your allotted time?

This proves that the sunway students are on par with those in oz as they also sit for the same papers. Moreover the fees in oz are more than double that in sunway.

Probably Clayton rejected him because they want to fill up Sunway seats?

A fair number that went for the recent Sunway interviews were rejected. And there were also rejections in the recent pharmacy interviews as well.

Taylor's SAM program alone produces 20 students with Atar of 99 and above. I think that's one of the reasons why entrance requirements are so fiercely competitive. Students should look to UK with more choices unless PR is one of the aims.

cant complain. =) we're doing what we love.
nah, we don't sleep at 3 am everyday. Most of my friends do sleep normally, maybe just less. I sleep around 5-6 hours a day on average. Exam periods are the exceptions, we do go further than 3am. But not all med students study till the wee hours in the morning ;p depending on your studying habits really. Some of my friends sleep early and wake up at 6 to study. I sleep at 1 or 2 because I opted to have that extra 1 hour of leisure after I study eg: movie, series, gaming, music. =)

onelove89,

an off topic question. How's the response towards those unis like Melbourne, ANU and UWA in regards to post graduate entry for med. Is it as competitive as before or easier with this new requirement? And those unis still on undergraduate entry level, has it made the situation much more competitive due to the reduction in the number of universities.

In Australia, undergraduate entry is much more competitive now. Even the domestic students are going for 5 years, instead of spending 3 years in a bachelors of science course, then go through GAMSAT, and keeping very high academic scores in the undergraduate course, to get a chance at 4 years in grad med school. At the moment, what I deduce from their med forums is that the uncertainty of making grad med school, has made this pathway less popular.
Already, there are many questions about what one will do with a Bio-Med degree, if they fail to get into medicine.
*
If the grad med schools maintained the same no of places available, wouldn't this be less competitive and considering the fact that how many will actually go for a med related degree before applying? And with competition building up, isnt it a better option to take A levels than oz pre-u to widen the choices

Looking at the scenario where locals aiming for med courses overseas face, IMU-PMS will still be a much sought after place. I just found out that for Manchester Uni, foreign internationals are just given 29 places a year in total whereas those transferring from IMU for Year 3 onwards will be allocated 13 places! But IMU has a "strange" way of allocated partner med schools, not all based on merit.
