QUOTE(limeuu @ May 19 2012, 06:07 PM) that is simply because selection is done (for the majority of people) BEFORE one even sits for the a2 exam....based on criteria other than academic performance.... once they have deemed you acceptable, then the academic criteria they want is an easy a*aa, which maybe translate to atar90......although i will bet the majority accepted will eventually be getting 3a*.....certainly that has been the case of people i know who got accepted in recent years..... Added on May 19, 2012, 6:09 pmi can suggest a very stress free medical application.....any of the ipts med school..... 4A* or 3A*. A few with 2A*. Yeah. Thanks for the suggestion.

QUOTE(eliselam @ May 19 2012, 09:34 PM) Hi, how is the preparation going along? Confirm the accomodation and flight? He called a few unis directly but I think only York-Hull and QUB have places for intl. It was really stressful for the whole family as he is a very good student. I think his PS and UKCAT failed him. Seeing his eg, I dare not apply for all prestigious unis, choose one so called high risk, 2 medium risk and 1 low risk. But the so called low risk rejected me after interview!!! So, I think there is really no safe unis for medicine, just play to your strength. The need for alternative plans is important for overseas medic education. Not Russia, please! When is the earliest to apply for visa? Flight confirmed before visa?

QUOTE(podrunner @ May 20 2012, 12:05 AM) Didn't realize it can be requested. I was under the impression that it is part of the process for international students, ie once offers become unconditional and applicant has accepted, CAS will be sent electronically, starting from June. Also requested unconditional confirmation in writing which they did and sent by courier. Accomodation request was also settled pretty fast. Quite happy with the way they responded.

QUOTE(podrunner @ May 20 2012, 10:28 AM) Was some fees payment required to accept the unconditional offer? I take it relative has already completed A levels? I guess we are so used to Malaysian style inefficiencies that when things happen the way they are supposed to happen, we feel "quite happy". 1k pounds for offer n 400 pounds for Accomodation as deposits/earnest.

Ethical consideration to stop plundering others? The many new hospitals coming up effectively create a 'new shortage'.

We can only speculate as any feedback will not pinpoint area of weakness as they would indicate only very competitive and better applicants.

It will be interesting to also know what happens to UK residents and Singaporeans medical students when they graduate from Sunway Monash. I know there are some in the second year.

Is it not their policy to ensure that existing undergraduates are "guaranteed" internships upon graduation and any change in policy should be highlighted before the next batch of first year students begins?
What happens in the past will presume to happen in the future unless notified accordingly.
In this respect, I think bolehland is better, internship is guaranteed though not in the way it use to be.

When one door is closing, other doors will open. We are battle hardened and will find ways to achieve our objectives.
In the immediate future, its will still be Sunway Monash and IMU.
Well, I wont know what will happen to UK in the near future as well. If oz and UK won't appreciate our contribution of subsidies, we just have to move on.
But what really irks me is that they move the goal posts while you are in mid-stream.

QUOTE(limeuu @ May 30 2012, 04:43 PM) i think we have to realise, by studying there, we are only buying an education.....and they have NEVER promised the right to internship after, nor right to work...... therefore, what is happening is NOT that they failed to keep their promise, since they promised nothing except an education....it's just that in the past, they have accepted foreigners to stay on and work.....and this may slowly be a closing door.....and we assume the open door comes with the education and get upset when it closes........ Yes, it was not promised but the assumption is there. If internationals do not get internships, the numbers will be reduced quite a lot. If only they had a 5 yr working forecast, before students move to the starting point, a lot of unnecessary worries could hv been avoided. Just imagine if Ptptn said close shop end of this year!
