QUOTE(darthbaboon @ Aug 31 2009, 08:49 AM) i can ask for you but don't expect super low price. the price this nikon sales quote me for my students is not as low as, say j-one.coz my uni has a lot of international students and them going to sungei wang means massacre in resident evil style, so i approached nikon for deals like this. it's mainly to help out the students (and myself coz it's bad enough to get cheated for paying higher price, and it's super bad if they got cheated in 'fake batteries' and grey imports) normally nikon do this offer for the first month of new sem begins. so i have 2 more weeks before they shut the deal. |

QUOTE(koptalker11 @ Aug 31 2009, 10:06 AM) to be honest it depends on what u wanna do la..AFS 70-200VR --- got AFS motor and VR AFS 80-200 --- got AFS motor (no new ones, can only get 2nd hand) AFD 80-200 two touch (Mark III) --- the latest AFD version but still in stock and cheaper too All three focuses fast but the fastest would be the 70200 VR but at a much higher price. Keep in mind the weight too. An AFD 80200 is more comfortable handheld than a 70200VR which is really a muscle builder...hehe For a 2nd hand AFD 80200 MK-III (RM 3K), u can get urself an all rounder NEW 18200VR (RM 2.5K) + prime lens NEW AFD 50mm f/1.4 (RM 1k) which totals for around RM6.5K = price of a new 70200VR This post has been edited by alpha_company: Aug 31 2009, 05:10 PM |

imo,
they normally call the current available AFD 80-200 as the two touch version. Mark III sounds so kenon-ish |

QUOTE(alpha_company @ Aug 31 2009, 04:33 PM) oh yeah..im not so sure about that.. the current is two touch and and the previous one is push pull right? As far as i know, there are 3 versions of AF-D and 1 version of AF-S for the 80-200 F/2.8.Mk 1 is the push pull. Mk 2 is the 2 touch. Mk 3 is the new 2 touch which is still available on the market brand new today. While the other one is the AF-S 80-200 F/2.8. Correct me if i'm wrong. |

Yes correct. There are 3 versions of AFD 80-200 f/2.8
MK 1 - Push pull - Do not have tripod collar "Basic lens operation remains as an one-touch sliding zoom" MK 2 - Also push pull - Do not have tripod collar "The AF Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED lens still retains a one-touch sliding zoom design " ![]() MK 3 - Two touch - Have tripod collar "change from one-touch sliding zoom to dual rings design" ![]() Info from mir.com.my This post has been edited by alpha_company: Sep 4 2009, 03:45 PM |

QUOTE(HiroBoroi @ Aug 31 2009, 05:49 PM) I hear that if VR losak - 600 ringgit Yeap, pretty much there. My money would be on an Mk 1 as it's the most affordable. But the thing is, the tripod collar does make a lot of a difference. Eventhough the Mk1 and Mk2 are 400g lighter than the Mk 3, but it's still pretty heavy at 1.2kg... |

QUOTE(HiroBoroi @ Aug 31 2009, 06:14 PM) The push pull has a lot of zoom creep Yeah, agreed about the zoom creep part.Plastic ring cracked Manual focus clutch breaks Almost all push pull lenses suffer this issue, except for the 70-210 F4-5.6 which i have seen multiple copies and all of them do not have such issues... Anyway, for people like us who could not afford the 70-200 Vr or VRII, i guess we'll just have to live with it. To buy a 70-200 Vr would have been the cost of a new D90 body+80-200 Mk1... Not to mention the vignetting suffered on the 70-200 Vr. This post has been edited by @meno: Aug 31 2009, 06:28 PM |

QUOTE(HiroBoroi @ Aug 31 2009, 05:49 PM) I hear that if VR losak - 600 ringgit waaahhh Added on August 31, 2009, 5:51 pm Yes I cant confirm the prices for the repairs but a shopkeeper told me that it's better to have the AFD 80200 rather than the AFS 80200, because he said that quite a number of people came to his shop to repair their AFS 80200 because the SWM motor breakdown/cant function. It makes sense that a lens without a motor or vr or other internal motorized parts would be much sturdier and can last a harder beating in harsh conditions. I cannot say that this is also a problem with the AFS-70200VR.. maybe it's much sturdier and better then the AFS-80200.
